Recently, I decided to associate a basic savings account with my checking to keep emergency funds in (I have an online brokerage account elsewhere). I just wanted to keep an account that was liquid and allowed me fast access in case of an emergency (my car breaks down, etc...).
I started the application for the savings account online, but because I had recently made an address change, it needed to be completed over the phone. I called TD Bank's customer service line and was on the phone with a representative in minutes. Imagine that! I didn't have to wait for a half hour! The very friendly representative had me set up with FREE savings account in a matter of minutes that was associated with my FREE checking account. The requirements were very minimal and easily met my needs.
In a nutshell, TD Bank is one of the few financial institutions that still seem to cater to a person as an individual rather than as a number.
