They send you a letter stating you are pre-approved for x amount When you apply you are then declined. Why send you a pre-approved letter if in fact you are not pre approved. This is place is a joke. I am working to build credit and by applying with high hopes you just knocked my score down. Shame on YOU.
This card is great as it offers you rewards on certain purchases and also helps to rebuild your credit and with my monthly payments over the minimal I just paid off this account in June 2022!
DO NOT GET A CARD FROM THIS COMPANY. If you fall behind on payments they don’t have any programs to assist. I got covid and was hospitalized. This caused me to lose my job. I explained this to them and they told me there were NO options available. They couldn’t even waive the late fee.
Opened my acct tried to use it declined!Blocked card saying fraud use???even after I sent them proof of my identity!!They are game players!Card is useless,they keep saying someone will call my home phone months later crickets!Worse customer service in the world!I threw it away,they can shove thier card!
I have sent multiple payments through my bank's bill pay system to Mercury. Each time my bank shows the check will be received by the company in 4-5 business days. Mercury then tells me no payment was received more than 10 days later. This delay in recording payments has resulted in several interest charges on the amount of the payment since it is shown as no payment. When I call customer service I go through the whole issue with an agent who "researches" it only to get disconnected and routed back to the beginning with another agent who has no knowledge of the prior calls. This credit card purposefully does not accept electronic payments from banks which forces the bank to issue a paper check, which allows Mercury to take whatever time they want to "process" the payment. Since all my bills are paid through my bank's bill pay service and this is the only vendor I have ever had this issue with, I'm confident the fault lies with Mercury and it is a scam to take advantage of people who are trying to rebuild their credit and cannot get another card. I won't be keeping/using this card any longer than I have to. This should be illegal. If you can qualify for any other card you'd be better off going that route.
Basic card with no issues as long as you pay you bill on time or ahead of time. Since pandemic they've been a little slow on crediting your payment but still an okay card at worst.
Received a pre-approved letter in the mail twice in the last 6 months. Went to the website--entered in my reservation codes both times and info--answered security questions correctly--then both times the online application wanted my bank info (routing and account number) it said to verify my identity. I called customer service about why each time and both times they told me that my social security number entered on the website was incorrect. I double checked my info twice each time I applied. Total scam. No way I'm handing out my checking account info online after being lied to about my card application for something I was pre-approved for.
I just opened this account less than a year ago, and they increased my credit limit substantially since then which was great. Then I had an emergency vehicle repair come up that resulted in my being unable to pay off statement balance in full as I always have before. I see every 23 days that go by where I’ve only paid the minimum payment each month (on time or before due date) Mercury is charging me $30+ in interest per every 23 days. Since my minimum payment amount is only $34, how does that make any sense? Mercury are a bunch of crooks. I have other cards like Discover, Capital one and Citi bank and none of them charge high interest and not like this. I also have Kohls, Target, Home Depot, childrens place and some others like Fortiva and Aspire and none charge me interest like that. I will be closing this account next week when I pay off the balance. Mercury is an absolute joke. Do NOT go with them! They’re corrupt and want to milk you for every nickel and dime!
I have no issues with my card. I pay more then I have to and pay that twice a month. Credit cards can be your friend and enemy. It’s really up to you…..
