No credit card needed
I was recommended by a lot of my family to use a credit card with Chase. I have a pretty small outstanding debt on my other card which I needed to transfer balance on, and I applied for this card. Although you need to have good credit, I dont think that this is a big deal. What I liked the most about this card is that there was no fee, there's no annual fee (which my Amex has) and I loved the 0% Apr for 15th months. My debt was pretty small so this card really did help me in paying it off. Considering that I have also been a victim of ID theft, the smart chip made me feel even safer. One of my older cards, from which I didnt the Balance Transfer, didnt have a chip and that was the card that was attacked. Just like most cards, there is a late fee and I was late once because I was out of the country and honestly forgot to have someone access my account to pay it. I sorted it out with them and I got no trouble at all. They even waived the fee. I did start with a decent limit on the card but was able to increase it. I wasnt really interested in any rewards or anything that this card had to offer in terms of perks, but my main thing was about the balance transfer which worked out perfect. All in all, its a decent card.
I have used Chase for about two years now. It was easy to open and I was able to waive fees. The main thing I was drawn to was the fact that with the savings account you're able to make good interest on it. The website was very good with keeping track of your savings. There was no hassle and if I needed to tap into the savings to pay bills and what I noticed was that there was no limit in the amount you needed (from what I was told at the actual bank) to keep in the account to keep it active. I also was told (and I saw it first hand) that there was no penalty to close the account. They are one of the most secure accounts that I have had. From what I heard from other customers, they had fees to pay once they transferred a certain amount to checking but I never had to face any of that. All in all I think its an awesome savings account and I think its great to have for those people that have just started working. Saving early will always come in handy!
I dont think the Walmart Prepaid Card is that great of a deal. First off, I mean you have to make sure that the places youre going to use the card accepts Debit MasterCard. Even though the inactivity fee and cancellation fee seem pretty appealing, I dont like the fact that they charge you 2$ from the ATM. I mean I would keep a Debit card handy for emergencies. I would compare this to my Chase Debit card that I have at the moment, which doesnt charge fees like this one does. Yes, I do understand that because the card is not affiliated with any bank, there are going to be ATM fees, but again, instead of that hassle I would then stick to using cash, because a Debit Card, a Prepaid one, is technically cash. If I want to block off cash and not touch it at all even with the temptation to use it, I would put it on this card and then forget about it and it works out, because there's no inactivity fee. But if I need cash because they dont accept debit Mastercard, I need to find an ATM and withdraw money and lose 2$. I would rather use a credit card if I didnt have the cash or just use cash in general. I think it's a great deal for some people to use, namely those that might have bad credit, but then in that case, they would be sticking to cash anyway. I really dont see the use of this card. With the Chase Debit card I dont have any fees to worry about. So either I would get affiliated with a bank and open an account, or just stick to cash, I dont think the Walmart Prepaid Card is a good idea at all.
I have had this account with chase for years, but I was drawn to it because my parents have always used this Bank and loved it. I started out with this account about 5 years ago when I started with my part time job. I had to put my mother's name on my account (as was told to me by the representative) so that I could waive a lot of the fees. That was the main thing that drew me to this bank. They were willing to help me save money because with a part time job, they knew I wouldnt be earning that much. They tried to minimize all of my fees either with maintaining the account and or with other monthly fees. They have an awesome app so that Im able to check my checking account on the go and its totally secure. I have had no problems at all and I make sure to recommend this checking account to anyone.
This is an awesome store credit card to start out with especially if you want to build credit. I have had this card for 4-5 years and I love the perks you get with it. I did have a small problem with billing because I didn't receive a bill but I had a small balance on it of under 10$. I called them and they solved the matter in no time and I was able to get a new card as soon as possible so that there wouldn't be any future problems. Though they assured me that if anything like that happened again, they would take care of it. Now considering its a store card, they have late fees and interest rates that arent too friendly if you miss a payment or default, but because of billing problem, they waived the fees because I wasnt at fault. Now in terms of the perks, I always get 10$ off of a 10 dollar purchase coupons a lot. I also use the card that the Sephora that is located inside the store so it's like I get double the perks. Love this card and I would recommend it to anyone!
I have had this card for a year. I love this card because the store carries clothes I would need at work. You can even check in with the card, even if you dont buy anything and you get points which work towards a discount---usually 10$ off a purchase. I like the fact that its about 15 points for every dollar, so your points do tend to add up pretty fast. You can cash in these points at any time and another thing I do like--out of personal experience is that if you pay late once, I was able to talk to them to reduce or eliminate the late fee, because it was a first offense. The customer service with the card is great as well. I love how you get Birthday perks every year, and as far as Im concerned, not all cards do this. They have specific coupons for card members either by mail and sometimes in stores as well. Even if you're someone that doesnt shop too much at the store, I think this card is a great thing to have because its not necessary that you buy something to get points. I dont think the lack of cash advance is a problem because it is a store card and I feel that people arent too inclined to use that option with a store card per say. Overall, I really do recommend this card to anyone that has any interest in clothes at all.
