Perhaps the worst bank ever. I had a dispute about funds drawn from my account by the use of my debit card. I have never ever, ever, ever used my debit card. And even though the funds was returned, I am bewildered as to how the funds was withdrawn by the merchant. The letter says I am to speak to the merchant which I had nothing to do with. I no longer keep a debit card with this bank as I think it is a most unsafe instrument the bank offers. Beware!!!!
A few months ago my account overdrew, at that time I told the bank teller at the Butler Branch that I did not want this happening again and he told me that he would remove the overdraft protection. The other day I used Walmart pay and accidentally it took from my Woodforest account. I IMMEDIATELY went to customer service and had it put back on my Woodforest account. A few days later they said that there were 5 overdrafts. They said they'd remove them and after all was said and done now they're telling me I had 6. There shouldn't have been any. I've been a member for 15 years and have a sterling account. They don't seem to care. I'm glad they're not my main bank. They can go pound salt for the $32.00 that they say I owe. It's a matter of principle at this point. Do yourself a favor and bank elsewhere
Recently had fraudulent withdrawals from my AMEX and my woodforest bank account…. AMEX WAS ON TOP OF IT AND TOOK SWIFT ACTION…woodforest though…. Going on week two and my money is STILL tied up and the best part is I tried to call to report it but couldn’t reach ANYONE, messages don’t get returned and per the recording you have to go to a desktop or laptop to report your card lost / stolen so don’t be on vacation when THAT happens! Smh…I turned my card OFF in the mobile app but when I physically get to the bank they show my card was never turned off yet still active?!?! I LITERALLY SHOWED THEM MY CARD WAS TURNED OFF AND THEY STILL SHOW IT AS ACTIVE SO SOMEONE TAKES OVER $200 FROM MY ACCOUNT!!!! This was on a Monday when I went in to file my dispute paperwork and get a new debit card I get a call from the manager who did my paperwork from woodforest THAT FRIDAY….. OOPS WE SOMEHOW DIDN’T SEND THE FORM FOR YOUR DISPUTE OVER TO CORPORATE ? so I call the 800 numbers to try to get the ball rolling because I have a large deposit coming through but my accounts comprised so I had to stop that, my direct deposits are going through but I can’t use any of yet and I’m getting money orders for bills but the attempts to reach a live person are VOID and they’re nothing but automated recordings!!!! I can leave a message (but never get my calls returned) why bother?!?! I’ve had it! I’m fed up! I’m going to take my business elsewhere and I recommend YOU DO THE SAME! Already have my accounts set up elsewhere BUT STILL WAITING FOR MY MONEY BACK SO I CAN CLOSE MY WOODFOREST ACCOUNT OUT!!!
The worst bank I’ve ever seen. Horrible interest rates on every account; checking, savings, IRAs, all of them awful. The manager at my local one is beyond rude on top of being inept. The tellers are physically vulgar and unhelpful.
The most frustrating of all though is that the bank will cancel your card for normal purchases you make, but don’t see any problem with allowing unauthorised, faulty purchases when they let your account get breached. The security they have is terrible.
All around the worst banking service I’ve ever dealt with or heard of.
I can handle rude, I can handle stupid, I can handle uncooperative - just not all three at once. I deposited a certified check from a different bank about two miles down the road today, and it took them over 10 minutes to process the deposit. As was as if they were actively trying to find an excuse to refuse it. I've been doing business with this bank for 12 years, and they've gone through about a dozen branch managers in that time. None of the current employees has been there more than a year. I no longer know the name of a single person at this branch. Specific issues - if I make an overseas purchase, odds are they will shut down my debit card with no warning and without telling me. They do this three or four times a year, claiming it's for my security, but since they never ask me about the purchases or tell me they are shutting down the card, I don't see how this helps me. On the other hand, when a hacker did get my card number and made multiple identical $274 purchases, only stopping when they had maxed out the card, that did not even raise an eyebrow. I am actively looking for another bank.
THE WORST BANK EVER!! MY ACCOUNT WAS HACKED 3 DIFFERENT TIMES AND THEN WHEN I WENT TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS 300$ IN MY ACCOUNT , THEN WITHDREW THE MONEY GAVE IT TO ME THEN SAID THEY NEEDED IT BACK BC IT WAS A MISTAKE AND THEY TOOK IT FROM SOMEONE ELSES ACCOUNT.. HORRIBLE SERVICE AND THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVE NO CLIE WHAT THEY ARE DOING!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! DONT OPEN A ACCOUNT WITH THEM UNLESS YOU WANNA GET ROBBED!!
Woodforest has some of the most non-thinking, customer service reps. It doesn't get any worst than this. I went to enterprise, where a young lady's attention skills of a toddler double charged my debit card. Even though I handed her my credit card, to charge, something in her head said to double charge his card on file. Then play dumb and say it was a glitch, but I refresh the computer and charge the card I didn't want to charge again. Cool everyone makes mistakes, refunded your account. Call Woodforest bank to check on when the refund, hit! Come to find out, the fraud department decided to shut and close my card. No alert, no one called. They lied and said they texted, but never gave me what number they use. This is the same company that allowed someone to use a lost card, that was supposed to be close to purchasing auto parts. Their reaction is we are sorry, we don't know what to do!!! Granted I'm out of town, and that is my bank. A bank that will leave you handicapped, while you are out of town from nearest bank 235 miles. Should not be trusted or ever, be made your bank. I would never recommend anyone to ever get a Woodforest account. They need better employees, the common sense is not there.
