I have been banking with BB&T since before with Susquehanna Bank. I have never been very happy with BB&T, especially since no one in my local branch with whom I had a relationship is still there. I had opened a savings account 2 yrs ago for the specific purpose of transferring money into it from my Vanguard account. Money never stayed in the account and it was almost always at a zero balance. This purpose was explained to the banking person who opened it. For almost 2 yrs there was never an issue. 10 days ago, I transferred money from Vanguard. On Tuesday, I checked my BB&T accounts on-line and the account I set up to accept the money from Vanguard was gone. Upon calling my local branch, I was told it had a $0 balance in it for 2 mths and at the discretion of the bank, it was closed. I was furious. I had never been contacted. I had never been told I needed to keep any amount of money in the account or I would have. Now, what is really eregious is that the money has still not been rejected by BB&T and returned to Vanguard. It will take up to 2 weeks to be returned to Vanguard!!! So, they can sit on my money and make interest. I was not able to use the money for the purpose for which I originally transferred it. And, I am not able to make money on it in my Vanguard account. I would be very careful if deciding to bank with BB&T to find out what exactly you are getting into.
I used to bank with BB&T for years, but one day I lost my job and my deposits stopped coming in. Once I had paid my bills, I had only a few dollars left in my account, which BB&T promptly took for "fees" because I wasn't depositing at least $200/ month, and then closed my account without warning. When I went in to ask about why my account was closed, the receptionist took my atm card and cut it into pieces. I exchanged swears and left very upset.
I opened this account a few years ago when my old bank started requiring an automatic deposit to avoid a monthly fee. I am a stay at home mom and this was my personal account. I just use it for money I make selling items so there isn't a whole lot of cash flow. I am so glad that I was able to find a bank willing to let me just have a small balance account and not charge me a monthly fee! I do wish that the interest rate was a little higher so that is the only reason that I gave it four stars and not five.
I like using the BB&T savings account, I currently have 3 accounts as part of their eSavings, I use them for different things. The website is well laid out and everything is easy to find and use. They have check images so you can see who the check was from/to, they have pending payments, auto payments to utilities, and recurring payments that you can set up to pay other types of accounts. I have used PNC, Everbank, and TD, I think that BB&T is on par with the better designed sites. One complaint that I have is that they charge you for making an external transfer to another bank. I wish they would give a little more in interest.
I opened up a savings account after I moved away from home. BB&T Savings was always a household name with my family. The customer service is excellent. Always there when you need them and very friendly. The process was so simple. No hassel at all. Made it easier to feel more independent being out on my own and able to save for what ever things I needed. I was able to work part time and go to college. Having the secure savings account with BB&T Branch made me feel my money was safe & secure. I would recommend anyone wanting to start their savings, trust it with BB&T..I am a happy customer after all these years..Thank you!
After many years of being a customer with Branch Banking and Trust as a checking customer, I decided to open a savings account with the bank. At first it was a great experience and they made it very easy to do money transfers, however you can only make so many transfers per month before you have to pay fees for each one. This was the turning point, not only can you only touch your money so many times per month, but you also have to keep a minimum balance or they start charging fees. My savings account ended up costing me more than I had saved. Not my best banking experience for sure.
BB&T has a very convenient and easy esavings account option. I have had this for about three years. I originally opened this account because of the ability to open completely online, and the fact that there are many local branches should I need to go in person. My only complaint is the LOW interest rate. However, they never charge maintenance fees, and provide great customer service at every branch I have ever gone to. Also, the online features are easy to use and convenient.
I opened a savings account online after setting up a checking account. The process was very intuitive and I've had no issues since. Also, BB&T's customer service is top notch. In addition to the staff at my local branches being very knowledgeable when I have stopped by in person, they also call periodically just to see if I have any questions or issues with my accounts. Additionally, the process of transferring and depositing money in person and online is vastly superior to that of my prior bank. Also, there were no fees with this account since I was a prior account holder, which is always a bonus.
Had this savings account for about a year now and I love it. So easy to communicate with the bank via online. Super easy to transfer money, the bank makes you want to save! I have not one complaint I will be a BB&T customer for years to come! I know that this company with grow and flourish.
Like most banks these days, the interest rates are fantastic, but the service is. We've had accounts with BB&T for years and recently opened a savings account for my 7yo daughter. The process was easy and the employee was very enthusiastic with my daughter. She explained how everything worked and congratulated my girl on her new account. It was a very pleasant experience. We will continue our relationship with BB&T for the foreseeable future.
You can make 6 withdrawals per month without being charged a fee. After that you will be charged a $3 fee/ withdrawal.
