I opened up my Digital Federal Credit Union savings account as I was moving away from Citibank. So far, I'm very pleased with my DCU Savings Account. Unlike most of the other banks/credit unions that I've been a member of, the DCU Savings Account doesn't charge any fees, or have any minimums, required to keep the account open. The interest rate on the DCU Savings Account is actually one of the best in the industry as of the date of this review, 3%. The only issue that I really have with this savings account is that the interest rate is tiered. Upon depositing more than $500, the interest rate drops to around the national average of 0.10% for any amount beyond $500.
I just opened a saving account here and I am pretty happy. They have a pretty high interest rate. i recommend them. I chose them because of their connivence and high percentage rate. The customer service is excellent and is defiantly worth getting. They give 3.5% annual interest on the first 500 dollars. This is a lot better than Eastern bank, Salem Five, and TD bank. I think Eastern Bank is like 0.5 %.
My overall experience with DCU has been very nice. I opened my checkings and savings account with DCU 3 years ago . The best thing is that you can keep the account active with no minimum balance . It helps immensely in tough financial situations . It gives me the strength to maintain a bank account on my name which I can use for my personal matters . I almost had no hopes of opening an account for myself , then somebody told me that with DCU , its very easy and fast . I tried immediately and since then its my trusted bet.
I've had my saving account with DCU for about 4 years now and have never had a single complaint. Just like their checking account - everything is very clear and disclosed to the credit union member. There are no catches, no awkward and unexpected fees whatsoever; and especially no minimum balances!! You earn pretty competitive interest on your balance as well. DCU is definitely the way to bank if you're in New England.
