DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH KEYBANK. THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY AND NOT RETURN IT. I OPENED AN ACCOUNT AND IMMEDIATELY TRIED TO CLOSE IT AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ME $25. I THEN TRIED TO CLOSE IT AGAIN LATER ONLY TO BE LOCKED OUT OF MY ACCOUNT. THEY ARE THIEVES. THE FEES ARE OUTRAGEOUS.
This bank running a scam to offer up to $400 if open a new account. Be aware for 12 months you will not be able to close this account without fee and also they charge different monthly fees from this account as well.
Had accounts of fraud occur on two different Key Bank cards. There is definitely a malfunction in their chip technology. The first time it happened, the fraud dept. refused to get ATM security footage and instead accused my boyfriend of stealing the money from me. The second time, they were suspicious of me because I was in the same city where the fraud occurred. I only ended up getting half of my money back. I immediately withdrew my money and closed my accounts.
Key Bank has the worst customer service and they are incompetent. I have been trying to roll over an IRA now for 2 years but Key Bank continues to not accept the forms that have been completed. Unreal. The last time, I verified the information on the form with a Customer Service Rep, who told me it was fine, only to get a letter from Key Bank to tell me to resubmit it. They still don't even have my name properly on my account.
My bank First Niagara was bought by Keybank last October. Instead of mailing me info on this banks policy's and fees and doing the right thing by having me sign a policy agreement I found out last Friday that this bank just helped themselves to $25 of MY money because I did not use their atm. This should have been clear at the time they became Keybank. Instead they get rich off of customers who have no clue about these fees. And this has been going on since October, I just found out. They're crooks. Be very careful with them.
When I originally signed up with Keybank, I was told my accounts would be free because of my employer. Later that month there was a fee in my account. When I called, the rep was rude to me, yelled at me and told me "you knew what you were signing up for, so why did you do it in the first place." This absolutely ticked me off. I have since then gone out of my way to ensure my friends and family are not treated the same way. I will NEVER return to Keybank again.
I've had a KeyBank savings since I was young and I've never had a true problem. Although, I'm not a fan of the customer service I have received in the past, and I'm sure it might have been different if I had called again to see if I had someone new answer the phone call, the woman who had answered the phone had the worst attitude towards me. Now, if this wouldn't have happened, I would be extremely pleased with this bank. I also love the fact that they send in your statement when needed. I would recommend opening a savings for your children here though, since they have a little program for them which was actually a huge plus when I was a child. Overall, KeyBank is a wonderful bank!
I opened a Key Bank account a few years ago when they offered an incentive promotion. Just for opening a savings account, I received a free iPod. I only had to deposit a minimum of $50 into the account to be eligible. I did so and continued to use this account as a savings account for a number of years. Since I moved away from the town where it was located, I decided to close the account. I did have some issues with officially closing the account. I tried to do it via phone, but was told I had to come in person, then came in person and thought it was all taken care of, but began receiving statements again a few months later in the mail. After another in person visit, they finally closed the account, but were not satisfied with my reason of moving away from the town as a reason to close the account. This discouraged me a bit from trying to ever open another account there in the future.
I have had a savings account with KeyBank for over 20 years. My mom started it for me as a kid and I just kept it going. I have never encountered any problems with them. The tellers have always been so nice and helpful if I had a question. I have considered changing my checking account to them too, but I get a nice little incentive for keeping it at my current bank. I would recommend KeyBank to anyone who wanted to start a savings account for themselves or their children. They are reliable, honest and do everything they can to keep their customers happy. At least in my experience!
That depends on the type of the account. If it was a joint account then the spouse becomes the sole owner of the account. If it’s a payable-on-death account, then the payable-on-death beneficiary will become the owner of the account. If we’re talking about a trust account, then the funds in the account will be transferred to the trustee. If the account has a single owner then the account will have to go through probate before the funds are transferred. Probate laws differ by state and you will have reach out to the bank for more details regarding the type of the account the deceased held. Please call customer service at 800-539-2968 for more details.
Please note the KeyBank does not offer savings accounts specifically designed for seniors. You can find the savings accounts and rates offered by KeyBank here: https://www.key.com/personal/savings/savings-accounts.jsp#compare-accounts/.
