I have had a State Employee's Credit Union account for over ten years and have never had any issues with the account or NC SECU over this span of time. My balance information and interest rate were easily accessible via their online website and their customer service team was readily available to answer any questions I had. Their branch offices and the Cash Point ATMS are generally convenient to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area, so while not a major bank you don't have to drive too far out of the way to gain access to your account. I also do enjoy the benefits of having my savings account with a state provider to avoid the frustrations of dealing with a major corporate bank and their poor customer service. If you have the ability to open a savings account with NC SECU, I would strongly recommend you do so.…show more
I have had this savings account for over 10 years. I'm happy with how secure the online services are; but I wish the growth rate was a little higher. However, for a bank with no frills, this savings account gets the job done. I have not had any problems; but if I had, I feel confident the staff would find a solution in a timely manner. One of my favorite aspects of the savings account is the range of features that are available online. I can easily transfer money to my checking or to my credit card from my savings account. I can even receive text alerts when my savings account is nearing a certain balance.…show more
I've been using SECU for several years, since I was a child, and now they handle all my banking needs. I started however with a simple savings account at an interest rate is 0.75%, quite competitive compared to other banks, with a minimum deposit of only $25.00. and zero service charges. I can even easily access the funds through Cash Points ATM worrying about a charge. The service is also friendly, the branches are quite numerous, and I've never had a problem that wasn't resolved immediately.
Overall I can say I'm a very content SECU member, something quite a few of my friends can't say about their banks!…show more
I've had both checking and savings with this bank for around 9 years. I love how secure their online services are. I have had some rude staff members, but I don't let that 10% affect how I feel about the other 90. Even though we live out of state now, they find ways to help us when we need it. Over all, I would recommend this bank to state employees and their family members.
SECU has been a great credit union over the past few years. I love their friendly service and staff. One of the most beneficial elements of the credit union is the fact that I can take my spare change in to their FAT CAT machine which allows me to put the change directly into my savings account. I do not use the checking services at this bank because the ATM machines are very old, and I like the ability to easily deposit cash and checks at the ATM. If they added a new ATM infrastructure I would make them my primary bank. I also feel that this bank has my best interests in mind, and they are very community based, which is so refreshing when considering the impact big banks have on our society and culture.…show more
