i find this to be a pretty low interest rate for a savings account however the convenience that it provides me to put money aside from my paycheck automatically every month is just great; also, CDs restrict me of when i can use the money, so i always like to have some at hand for emergencies, as soon as my savings hits a certain amount, i will be opening one with some of the cash. it is a pretty convenient product to have if you want to organize your personal finances if you already bank with U.S. bank. i give it a four star rating because the interest could be higher.…read more
I am fairly new to U.S. Bank as far as savings and checking, but so far, so good! The customer service department was wonderful in helping me get set up, and I like that there is no required minimum in case I have an emergency or want to go on vacation and use much of what is in there. It is also very easy to transfer money from one account to another! My reason for giving four stars instead of five is only because there isn't a location close to me. This doesn't bother me too much, though, as they make it easy to do everything online.…read more
I gave US Bank four stars because although they had a tough time dealing with my issue and coming to a fair resolution, the customer service they provided through the whole thing was absolutely phenomenal! I am not at liberty to discuss my issue, but I will say that US Bank handled it with the utmost care and consideration. They are known for being the second chance bank and that is why I went to them, for my second chance. I still have a savings account with them and I would still rate their customer service at five stars every time I go there!…read more
I love my US bank. My saving account is free no min. There is no fee to transfer from my savings account to my checking account which is great. My old bank use to charge me a $1 to transfer money. I love that there is no min so when I transfer all my money from savings to go on vacations I don't get penalties. Also the transfer is instant from my savings to my checking or checking to savings. I Have access to it online or on my phone thru there app. There phone app is also very secure and i feel comfortable using it on my phone. I have never had a problem with the account.…read more
I have had a US Bank checking account for many years and recently decided to open up a Standard Savings Account. Opening up the account was very easy – I logged into my online account, applied and was approved very quickly. It seemed very easy and hassle free because I could transfer funds with a click of a mouse. The following month however I saw that there was a monthly free. I called and talked with customer service and they said that you had to have monthly deposits to avoid the fee. I do not recall seeing this information when I signed up, otherwise I would not have opened the account. I closed the account and would not recommend this account to anyone.…read more
I recently discontinued my savings account with US Bank because I was dissatisfied. It wasn't made clear to me during the account opening process that I had to maintain a minimum of a $300 balance to waive the $4 monthly fee. As a result, I ended up paying several of these fees before I realized, as I had to take money out of my savings account for moving fees. This wouldn't be a big deal if their fee system had been made clear to me while opening the account, but it wasn't. Additionally, the interest rate they offer of .01% annually is pretty lousy compared to the alternatives out there. Since opening a savings account with a credit union instead, I've been making far more in interest. While US Bank has been fine for my Checking Account needs, I don't recommend investing in a Savings Account with them.…read more
We have a savings account with US bank because it is convenient for us and there is no monthly required balance. I am very satisfied with the fact that there are no monthly fees and it is free to withdraw or transfer money when we need. My biggest problem with this account though is the fact that no matter how much money we have in the account, the interest incurred is minimal. I think the most we've made is like 2 cents so far. Otherwise another pro to this account is the fact that I can use it to prevent over drawing my checking account. If for example, I over draw my checking by 2 dollars, instead of charging me the full overdraft fee, US bank will instead just automatically transfer money from my savings to checking in order to maintain a positive balance in my checking.…read more
Although I really like this bank, there are some downfalls to it. The customer service is good at explaining the rewards of my account as well as some things I need to look out for, like too many withdraws. However, the interest rate is pretty poor in my opinion. It is so low that I hardly see any interest being deposited into my account, which has prompted me to look at other options for saving my money.…read more
US Bank has very good tellers. They helped me get the right kind of savings account setup, and even has help for students like me! They have always been nice when I have been in there, and have never given me wrong information. I also know quite a few people that have a savings account with them and are very happy with it.
I've had this account for 4 years. Nothing really stands out about it except for the annoying fee for what they deem less than their required amount (to mehttp://wallethub.com/d/us-bank-savings-account-1000740b/?r=1#rating2, I'm trying to save, charging me a fee to try to save takes away from the whole purpose of the account). I do like the ease in transferring money from my checking to savings. Phone app works well. Pretty standard, nothing fantastic or standout about the account…read more
I have a savings account at US bank. They are a great bank, and always give me good service when I go into the branch. A teller recommended that I set up a savings account one day, so I took her advice. I sat down with a banker and it was open in about five minutes. I got an auto savings plan, which helps me set aside money. In a year, I was able to save five hundred dollars! I was so happy and now have an emergency fund. I highly recommend US Bank to anyone looking to save money.…read more
I have been using this account as my basic day to day savings account, and it is pretty standard. There are no outstanding features, though the ease and immediacy of transfers between accounts through the online portal and/or the phone app are nice. I "match" myself in savings to my dining out expenses, so it is nice when I cash out at a restaurant or bar to be able to quickly pull up my phone and push some money over to savings.…read more
I've been a customer of U.S. Bank for over ten years, and they've always provided great service. I have a checking account, and savings account, and several credit cards through U.S. Bank and I've never had a problem with any of these services. Their customer service is outstanding, and these wide varieties of options like the savings, checking, and credit card accounts make it easy to take care of all my financial needs in one convenient place.…read more
Signing up for this savings account was very, very simple. I just went into the bank and asked for one. They were very helpful to me even though I am young and probably silly to them. The interest rate is very low, but the account is free so I'm not complaining. The best part of this account is that I can easily transfer between it and my checking, even using a mobile app. Also, there is no minimum deposit or anything like that. This is by far the simplest, easiest way to have a savings account, in my opinion.…read more
I have had a savings account with US Bank for two years. I have this account linked to my checking account in the event I accidentally overdraw that account. This feature has proven invaluable to me. I appreciate that the bank took the time to explain to me how this worked and how it could save me money!
You won't go wrong with US Bank. It's a bank account. You won't get rich keeping your money in their savings accounts, but you shouldn't be investing using a savings account anyways. There are higher rates of return elsewhere. You should get an account with US Bank to keep your money FDIC insured and to take advantage of their free ATMs everywhere. That's why I am still there.
Over the past few years, they've slipped fees in my account secretly. But once I see them on their solid online site, I call up and always get them removed. It's a once a year hassle so that's why they get 4 stars instead of 5.
Overall, their free ATMs and solid online baking outweighs their occasional secret fees.…read more
I co-signed for a savings account for my cousin. He was under 18 and working at a grocery store that would only pay through direct deposit. So, I signed up with him for a savings account so he could simply withdraw his check every two weeks. All of the sudden, we get a statement and he's been charged hundreds in fees. We made it very clear to the clerk when signing up what we needed the account for. They never mentioned anything about how we could only have a certain number of withdrawals a month or we'd be charged hundreds of dollars. BEWARE BEWARE. We closed the account ASAP.…read more
I banked with US Bank for a short time when I was a college student. I still had the bank account from my home bank but had moved to a bigger city so I wanted to try a more local bank. I opened a checking and savings account. I didn’t understand clearly the rules of the savings and checking accounts and ended up accruing all kinds of fees which made me overdraft in my checking account. I ended up owing US Bank a lot of money simply because of fees that I did not know about. It may have been because I was so young and did not understand banking like I do now but I was not happy. The application process for an account was very easy and I even got a bonus for signing up.…read more
The person I spoke to to set up my account was nice and a pleasure to talk to, I have no complaints about that part of U.S. Bank. I chose them because they had a branch very close to my house. It soon seemed to always be closed, though. It was weeks until I realized they'd closed! Their website still claims they have a location there, years later. I now have to drive out of my way to do business there.
Their online banking system needs serious work. It doesn't even tell you what kind of account you have anywhere, or what kind of limits and penalties you're subject to. That shouldn't be a huge issue, except that they discontinued the type of account I had without saying anything. I get as many credit card offers in the mail from them as statements. They also call about twice a year to offer me a credit card. When your bank calls, you make sure to pay attention, right? What they do is force you to interrupt them or be rude to turn down the offer. Very unprofessional.…read more
I needed to start a savings account so I did a little shopping around online for my best option. I was disappointed to realize that interest rates are super low everywhere you go (giving me almost no incentive to even start a savings account). I was happy to find this bank because I came across their "Goal Savings" account. It allowed me to avoid any monthly maintenance fees, and also gave me the opportunity to save more easily (automatic transfers from a checking account). But the best part about the account for me was the $50 incentive they offer after you reach $1000, and then another $50 after maintaining $1000 for a full year. a $100 return on a $1000 was a great opportunity (especially considering savings account rates are only 0.20 on average, if that!). I had to open a checking as well in order to qualify for this deal but it was worth it. The checking account has been easy and simple to maintain (no fees). I can't speak for the in branch staff because I opened the accounts online and have done everything else either over the phone or by mail. But I can say the whole online process was super easy and the telephone bankers have been helpful.…read more
