I rarely post reviews. But this bank has gotten so bad it deserves one. It used to be a wonderful, locally-owned bank back in the day before they started mass acquiring banks. Heartland has taken it over, and man, has it gone downhill. The mobile app sucks, and as one review said, the worst online service possible, the phone just rings, emails aren't responded to, crappy management, bank managers who act on vendettas if you complain about their service, mistakes in deposits, failure to take responsibility for their own mistakes, and in some cases, even lies. They offer nothing special except bad service. Chase Bank is better than this bank, which says a lot. Also, take a look at who's on the board. Can you say MAGA?

Citywide Banks was great until 2017 when Heartland Financial bought them. Took forever to get online access but took a minute to remove it after account closed, no help getting the last statement.

I opened a checking account and moved direct deposit over to receive a bonus they were promoting with a direct mail piece.
Issues I ran into:
1. They sent the wrong account number for direct deposit so when payday came the funds did not come into my account
2. Never received a debit card for the account
3. The fine print on the promotion said no service fee would be applied if certain conditions were met. I met all conditions but they still automatically charged a $10 fee every month
4. Bank took the bonus back when I requested to close the account and transfer money out even though I met all requirements
5. The account had a monthly transfer limit to external accounts which prevented me from moving funds easily
Overall, Citywide does not follow through on their promotional promises, abuses the customer and their money, and has a poor product and service strategy.

Citywide bank is one of the best banks around, plain and simple. They have the best employees because they all treated me like I was a human, and not just another customer. I dont have the best of credit So I was worried about applying for a new checking account, but the agents and reps there worked with me and got me the checking account I needed. Not only that, but no more useless fees! Its so annoying have to pay fees for something that should be free, which is why I'm happy city wide bank is around to serve me!
