Now, years later, while trying to trade in the 2019 Jeep, I find out they never released the title to the state. I contacted them, and they're refusing to release it unless I pay repossession fees. Fees that were added in error. I told them I have a recorded conversation from the original incident where their agent clearly stated all fees would be waived. Their response? "We have no way for you to provide that recording, so we can't accept it."
This is beyond negligent.
I received a letter in the mail stating that I would be sent my "final bill" with numerous other charges once they sell the car at auction. I immediately called CCAP and said I received this letter, and you guys said that "$495 was my final bill" and no other charges would be assessed. They told me that that information was incorrect, and I would be billed additionally, but they don't know what the amount will be. I escalated to a supervisor who told me the same. I escalated again to their internal exec team. I was called and told that the employees did give me the wrong information, but the original contract stood as it stated I MAY be on the hook for early termination charges. I explained that it wasn't my issue that their employees gave me the wrong information and they provided me with a $0 balance. They attempted to blame me, Jeep, and the Honda dealership for this but refused to take any accountability other than "sorry, human errors happen". I was very clear that if I am sent a bill for more than $495, then I will absolutely retain an attorney. I have so far filed complaints with my state AG office, CFPB, BBB.
This is 100% illegal for CCAP (or any company) to do under numerous consumer protection laws. I will NEVER do business with this company or any affiliated companies. I can promise them that I can and will hold them accountable to the fullest extent if they continue this nonsense.
1-Star Review - Chrysler Capital: No Mercy During Hurricane Hardship - Repossessed Car Despite Payments & Communication
Warning to everyone: Avoid Chrysler Capital like the plague!
During hurricane-related financial hardship, I reached out to Chrysler Capital for assistance.
* I was out of work for 3 weeks due to the hurricane.
* Made payment arrangements and paid as much as possible ($653 on March 3rd).
* Kept them updated on my situation throughout.
Their response?
* No help or temporary payment deferment like other lenders (e.g., Mazda Financial - see below).
* Repossessed my car on March 25th at 5:14 AM without notice.
* Added insult: Email arrived 8 hours later saying, 'We want to help you stay in your car. Please call us. Your car may be repossessed.'
Too late. My car was already gone.
In stark contrast, my fiancé's lender, Mazda Financial, worked with her during the same hardship:
* Deferred 2 payments to the end of her loan.
* Showed empathy and understanding.
Chrysler Capital's actions were ruthless and devastating:
* Lost my job due to no transportation.
* Financial hardship worsened.
Beware: If you fall slightly behind on payments, Chrysler Capital will repossess your car without notice or mercy.
1 star - Will never recommend or use Chrysler Capital again.
