My Roth IRA account has been restricted since 2019. Throughout the year, I have been attempting to either lift the restriction or transfer my funds. It is absurd that this issue remains unresolved. It is worth filing a complaint with FINRA, transferring my accounts elsewhere, and sharing information about this prolonged issue so that others can be informed.

I was with E-Trade for about a dozen years before Morgan Stanley's management bought it. It has just gone downhill since then on that website. The ease of use of the site has been degraded. The accuracy of the numbers sometimes is erratic. I've sent them screenshots of the chaotic numbers on the portfolio page. I never heard back from them. They're raising the barrier between us and getting connected to customer service with longer automated message or robot hurdles we have to overcome. E-Trade used to be perfect. I never had a complaint about that company on this website. Morgan Stanley is going to maximize their profits and skimp on the customer service. Beware, beware, beware!

Worst company ever since the merger of E-Trade and Morgan Stanley. Do not open an account with this firm; they are terrible.

I have Schwab, Fidelity, Robinhood, and E-Trade. E-Trade customer service is by far the worst. Poor customer service should never exist in a brokerage.

I have been an E*Trade customer since shortly after its inception in 1995 (over 25 years). The "service" and "dedication" to its customers has declined, and took a complete nosedive over the last 2 years. Yesterday I discovered that several charges were attempted on my credit card (unsuccessfully, luckily). They do nothing besides cancel your card and issue you a new one. They refuse to investigate the criminal who stole my credit card information online, and it likely happened when I ordered doordash on Papa John's website. I discovered the security in their infrastructure is practically zero. But E*Trade / Morgan Shartley is now too lazy to investigate this and catch these filthy criminals. I'm closing my accounts and moving them to Ameritrade. Anything is better than this trash heap.

I greatly regret moving assets from Vanguard to E*Trade. While they offer similar products, I was attracted to Etrade because they offer 24/7 support. It turns out their support is so bad you are better with no support options. From my experience, they would regularly lose communication and never, ever respond. They failed at transferring some of my assets and gave me such a runaround blaming everyone else. At the end of the day, my decision to move to Etrade for better support was a failure and I have since pulled all assets. Etrade is horribly run.

A half star would be more appropriate, but the option doesn't exist. E-Trade was a great option to house payroll deposits so funds are always available for that "hot stock" you overheard at the "water-cooler" during a stolen coffee break. Sadly, those times ended around December 2021 when the Morgan Stanley thing happened. Since then, I am always on the phone with customer service. Funds availability in a crapshoot. My card is constantly being declined due to errors by the bank. I'm fortunate enough to have other banking options, but I imagine that these errors have caused TREMENDOUS grievances to people in less fortunate situations. I'll be finding another option for my trading fix. E-Trade is not worth the headache. Buyer Beware

Don't use etrade checking. 18yr old opened checking account with valid IDs. Received checks from family members and neighbors for graduation, deposited using etrade's app. Etrade restricted the account, cannot use debit card, demands the IDs of the 3 people who wrote checks to take deposits. We refused of course told them just to refuse the deposits then, they wont. Account is locked and they wont close. After 3 days of calling to get a supervisor, still nobody available, claim to be so understaffed there's no supervisors. What it is, it's not a checking account if you can just deposit a check someone gives you. Of course 3 days to clear, of course checks need to be endorsed, etc. She has since opened a Chase Checking account, works as you'd expect.
Etrade must be very messed up, and when you're stuck nobody can help.

This is one of the highly ridiculous investment companies in the US. Customer service literally unreachable any time during the business or none business hours. The voice message states that hold time is more than 2 hours. Means ever. The trades been canceled due to the application and descriptions errors. Software platform is slow, badly designed and has way many issues. One star is too much for E-TRADE, should be none

Etrade is literal garbage!!! I wish there was an option for less than one star never in my life have I ever had to jump through so many hoops to get access to my own money. And the algorithms they have in place to deal with issues are TRASH. I have my phone number registered on my account and i've tried a thousand times to verify my external account but, to go further I have to enter my phone number for "security measures" but it will not except my phone number! I thought maybe I can get a new debit card and just frontload purchases on the account until it was drained. But, when i tried to order a debit card it had my old address on it and would not let me change it. My old address is forever locked in. My money is in Limbo now. DO NOT EVER USE ETRADE!

2022 now and they still have not fixed the problem with your card getting locked on purchases you need because E*TRADE decided you can’t buy it. Now they have even blacklisted Using the card to transfer funds to a different exchange. I told the rep how horribly unamerican this is.

This bank is trash, been trying to use my debit card....Constantly declined even though I have plenty of funds in bank. Try to call customer service you say, good luck with that, you can never get anyone on the phone, and in the rare instance you do get someone on the phone, they'll either hang up on you, or act clueless as to what's going on. This is ridiculous, it's my money, let me use it, or at least have someone explain to me what's wrong with my account.

Debit cards never work. I will never trust this company to manage money again. After getting the debit card the pin has never worked and NO ONE responds when you call customer service. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I've had an Etrade checking account for over a decade. Transfers and mobile check deposits into the account take 3-5X longer than with my other online bank accounts. I think they just like to hold onto the money for the longest possible legal time, since it props up their financials and gives them more money to earn interest on.
