These people are dishonest and incompetent. I am the joint owner of an account that my parents set up 25 years ago. My father passed away 3 years ago, and despite sending the death certificate via USPS registered mail, FedEx, and email, they still have not removed him from the account. They've cut off my access to the account, and after hundreds of phone calls over three years, I still cannot access it to manage my mother's finances. They refuse to recognize the Power of Attorney because they want a new one. The problem? He is deceased, and she is in a nursing home 400 miles away with end-stage dementia and is non-communicative. Now, they are deducting her pension from the account, and no one there can explain why. I was on hold for 1.5 hours this morning, and before I could even finish providing the information, the customer service representative hung up on me. I am going to have to reach out to the Florida Attorney General and anyone else in state government who deals with banks and seniors, because taking her pension (when she has no loans or credit cards with them) is theft.

They denied me the $300 bonus because they did not accept my Mercari ACH deposit as payroll, though they are my employer. I mean it's 1099, but still. More than 20 other banks have rightfully acknowledged my Mercari deposit as payroll, so this is a disappointing first.

Horrible attitudes from all employees at the Bellview, FL branch except Justin Berry. I would recommend any other banking institution but this one. It's like a prison in the lobby - no live people, only screens.

Horrible! I had a small CD mature and called to have the funds transferred to my regular bank, which was linked and showing on the FCU account. They refused, saying that External Transfers were "turned off." A supervisor said she would turn it on, but it would take 10-15 minutes, so I could log on a little later and make the transfer. Fifteen minutes later, my preferred account was not available for transfers and I could not add it. I contacted FCU by chat, convinced that I needed to capture their comments in writing. That representative insisted that she could not "turn on" external transfers on the account until the receiving account was deleted then added back. I was on the computer with this fourth employee for 1.5 hours, asking for the law or banking regulation that allowed them to stop external transfers, all the while making copies of the conversation. She maintained that I was preventing the transfer because I was not cooperating with their policies. I was finally able to link the accounts through micro-deposits from the bank I want to transfer to and schedule that they take the money from the FCU account. We will see if they "allow" the transfer into my bank. If not, I will be forced to get the Florida State's Attorney involved. What a pain!

Worst credit union in Florida. Went today to start an account with them and to deposit thousands of dollars into the account. How unprofessional they are in Ocala, Florida. Telling me bank managers are not in, and when she arrives, she will look at my application. Laughing at the lack of a return phone call, text, or email; they're a joke. Went to Mid Florida and opened an account—Florida Credit Union, you all seriously fall short.

By far the worst credit union I have ever dealt with. First, I love credit unions versus banks. I normally would have gone with my credit union, but they offered a slightly lower rate for my new vehicle. It all started because I was making my car payments ahead of the 30-day due date. Then I received a late notice. I was upset because I normally pay well ahead of time, and upon calling them, they said I'm not allowed to pay earlier than 30 days. I wish this would have been communicated in the contract or in person. So after 5 calls, we finally got it corrected, or so I thought, until I received a late fee for $37.36. I'll give the staff credit for being very courteous, but the end result is lacking. Besides the request to have a supervisor call me back, and me having to call three times to get my loan payment coupons, the time that I've wasted being on the phone and continuing to call back is ridiculous. I will be changing credit unions shortly and will either go to Bay Gulf Credit Union or Florida West Coast Credit Union. Both of these credit unions I've had positive interactions with.

So FLCU agreed to help me with a $50k loan to purchase property in March of 2020, however they said I would need to put $27k down, so essentially they only loaned me $23k. From May 2020, I began paying $440 in mortgage payments. Now I understand the principal versus interest, and since I put so much down there was no PMI. So in October 2023, I had a very bad split with someone I had been with for 15 years. This turned out so disastrously it cost me my job, and I went into a deep depression. So by January 2024, I couldn't make my mortgage payment and my head was in a dark place. Then they began their foreclosure process. At this point, I had paid $27k down, and $18920 in mortgage payments (again, I understand most of that counted as their interest, not actual principal). They essentially, at this point, recovered $47920 of the $50k they loaned me in just under 4 years. But I agreed to pay them a lot more than that, and I get that. The point is, with over $4080 of actual money they had loaned me, they sold my house for $44k. This was after they had agreed to let me fix the house, which had a ton of equity already, and I wasn't notified until they sent me a certificate of sale. They severely impacted my life because they prioritized their financial gain over human concern. I was going to sell the house for $125k and of course, they would have been paid off in full in just 2 more months, but they were impatient. And they lied to me. They said they would let me fix it and sell it, and went through with the process anyway. It makes me distressed, I can't even think straight. And again, I'm not saying I only owed $4080, I'm saying that's actually all they had invested in this to that day. Of course, they were making $35k for loaning me $23k. How disheartening this is, and what kind of judge sides with this type of behavior! It's sheer avarice! I'm not saying that I shouldn't have to pay the $35k on top of the $23k I actually borrowed, of course, if I agreed I should, and was planning on it, actually I wouldn't have had a choice. What I am saying is that, while at this point technically they only had $4080 actually invested, they could have been more patient and honored the agreement we made. I'm still in shock, distraught, numb, empty, defeated, weak, angry, and coming to peace with the realization that I don't want to go through this again. I refuse to work myself to the point where I lose my family anyway, and then fall prey to such avarice. There was not one single thing I experienced in my forty years here. I'd rather skip the next 40. THANK YOU FLCU.

This bank used to be great; as of November 2024, they are pitiful. They placed a restriction on my account, so I cannot log in to see what the issue is. I recently closed my checking with them but still have three other accounts. Upon using "chat," I was told I had to call. After holding for more than 20 minutes, I was told no help was available, the department who locked my account wasn't there, that my account was "dormant" after regular use, and a request would be placed to have someone call me on Monday, 11/4. No one called. I tried calling Monday at 4:10 pm and was on hold for more than 33 minutes without a response. I hung up and tried a different number (there are several available!), where I was on hold for 5 minutes. During this hold, I was given an option to leave a "call back request without losing my place in line," which I did. I received a callback at 5:21 pm; however, the person disconnected the moment I answered. I tried calling back and gave up after 19 more minutes on hold.
On 11/5, I tried again to call with the same result: extended wait on hold, requested callback, the bank person hangs up as soon as I answer. On 11/6, I tried again, this time leaving my work desk phone as the callback number. I got the exact same result; the bank person disconnected as soon as I answered. Such a waste of time, a major aggravation, and now I'm forced to go into the bank when I set everything else up online specifically because the only branch near me is very inconvenient. I've had this account for more than five years, and this is how I'm treated? I think it's reasonable to at least be able to discuss an issue the bank created on the phone, as well as have the barest minimum of customer service available.

Place has done nothing for me in six years. Denied home loan, got one from another bank and haven't missed or been late on a payment ever. Applied for an auto loan, denied; got it through another bank and again, 3 years later, no late or missed payments. Credit score is 740 and just got denied for a home equity loan. Time to take my money and business elsewhere.

I've been banking here for six years. I have an auto loan, a credit card, and a personal loan, all in good standing. I went into a branch to cash my check and was told there would be a five business day hold on the check. It was a government-issued check; there's no reason to place a hold on it, but okay. It has been seven business days, and still, my money is on hold. I just want access to MY MONEY. I used to love this bank, but after this experience, I'll definitely be seeking another banking institution.

Third-rate institution. Plan on being hacked a minimum of every 90 days. Then, you can expect to be treated like the criminal when calling in. I have two accounts with them, and both have been hacked repeatedly. After being hacked, I received a new debit card (two weeks later), which I had never used. After my second account was hacked, I attempted to use my alternative debit card only to have it declined. Upon calling the MidFlorida help desk, I was advised they didn't recognize the card. They sent me the card Unbelievable. Stay away!

I have been with Florida Credit Union for over 7 years and have a car loan that's almost paid off. Recently, I have had financial difficulties like many of you and was unable to pay on a $2,500 credit card that I didn't even ask for or request. Florida Credit Union gave it to me at the time I acquired the car loan. They have blocked my access in every way possible, so I can't pay my car loan and have tampered with my account info so I can't pay from another institution. I have called twice and I'm placed on hold and transferred to a collection agency for the $2,500 credit card, in which I told the collector I can't start making payments at this time. This system is so broken, and not everyone is as fortunate as others, and this shouldn't even be allowed. I have never been late with the car payment; however, Florida Credit Union is making it extremely difficult to continue on that path. This is why I don't believe in our system because this is unacceptable and unethical. One of my associates, who works for a bank, is looking into this further for me. Please be careful when dealing with this establishment. I don't want to hear any disingenuous response from them because I’m so disappointed and disgusted with the CEO that allows this. I will come back and do a follow-up if they don't block me from this site as well.

I wish I had looked at these reviews first. Everything listed in the negative is true. You will wait on hold for 20 minutes or more, and the reps are always on the defensive. They did a hard pull on my credit rating (for a checking account), which has never happened before in my 50 years of banking in three states. I closed my account when I realized how slow they were to credit my account. Now I've been waiting three weeks to receive my money after they took a $25 fee for an unknown reason. They keep blaming it on the US mail, but other correspondence from them has reached me in two days. Very questionable operating procedures. If my check does not arrive in the next three days, I am considering reporting to the NCUA.

Absolute worst Credit Union. They do not report to all bureaus for credit reporting, so don't count on your loan impacting your score or reflecting on your credit. Their customer service department is not trained properly in knowing processes. It takes escalating to a supervisor in every situation or issue that you have for basic information. Their process of product cancellations is ridiculous, and you have to hunt down any information to get a refund that you have paid for. Absolute waste of a "bank." Please do yourself a favor and never do any banking with this business.

Terrible experience. I monitor my accounts regularly and sometimes I notice the balance changing in the middle of the night. I recently completed a mobile app deposit, which is supposed to be convenient for the customer. However, instead of a reasonable three-day pending hold, my funds are being held for an additional week. This is not helpful for a household that needs access to their income. Then the bank has the audacity to charge me an overdraft fee for bills when the funds were supposed to be available on time. The lack of empathy is appalling, and the bank's communication skills are non-existent. I would not recommend this service at all.
