Bethpage Federal Credit Union Checking Accounts

Worst Customer Service.
Every time I have to deal with BFCU, they make you jump through unnecessary "hoops". They keep asking for more and more verification information. The more you provide, the more they ask for. I've gotten on to US Navy bases with less hassle. To get a phone number changed was ridiculous. And when it was finally approved, it had to be confirmed by their "system". I have been a customer since 1984 when it was the Grumman Credit Union. I will not be forced to leave based on the incompetence of the BFCU management. You need to streamline your customer service to actual serve your customers.

Never mind giving a zero, If I could it would be rated minus 5. All talk of no Covid contact and the ATM and online banking and "not in person" deposits held for days??? Speed deposit???? and touch all the materials dozens of others touched??? And we get banking from the 1970's, Come on your killing NY governors people in case he didn't kill enough of them. Last week debit card wasn't working called and waited from 11:18 Am until 1:56 Pm for a responsible person who could say something more than "that is handled by a different department" or "We apologize for the delay but due to the corona virus our staff is limited" Then a managers response was,"we can't tell you why it was declined....contact the vendor". The only thing limited at BFCU is member customer service, in fact it is non existent. Wow this bank is poor! In any other state they would be out of business!

Interest rates are good, but that is literally the only positive to Bethpage. Because of bank hours If you have a full time job you can not go into the branches as they will only be open when you are at work. This is not typically a problem for me with other banks because I do most of my banking online or at ATMs. So whats the difference with Bethpage? They don't have a SINGLE consistently functional ATM on long island. Their ATMs haven't been able to take checks for over 6 months. I have been to 4 branches, each multiple times, ant they always either take the checks without depositing them and refuse to spit them back out, or simply successfully read the checks and identify the amount but refuse to deposit it. I have tried to contact Bethpage about these issues but have been ignored. I NEVER have these problems at Bank of America or Citi, but CONSISTENTLY face such issues with Bethpage. To make matter worse, Bethpage doesn't have any sort of money transferring service like Zelle, so I can't even transfer money in from one of my other accounts. What is the point of an account with a high interest rate if you cannot put money into it? And frankly it isn’t anywhere near the highest interest rate on the market so its not even worth the trouble.

Worst customer service. Argumentative customer support. Make sure you get in writing that they are closing your account, because they will reopen it after 6 months if you have any accounts (spotify or a magazine subscription) that charge electronically. Dont just assume that they did what they said they would do or operate how a normal financial institution operates. Shysters...

Worst experience I ever had. Was a victim of fraud. Was only notified after my account was cleaned out of 3,000.00 to be told I owed over draft fees. Accused my husband of fraud. Why was i not notified before 5 checks bounced and a zero balance of a account that just had deposits for 2 yrs no withdrawals ???. After filing police report. Bank still very uncooperative. Dont have to pay over draft fees but never got my money back . BEWARE>>>>>

I opened an account at Bethpage Federal Credit Union last year after moving to my new place in Long Island. My landlord needed me to transfer rent and it was only through Bethpage so I was forced to open this account. I was reluctant at first, but I quickly realized that this credit union actually cared about customers. One time I accidentally transferred rent to the wrong account (my landlord wrote the number incorrectly). I went to the credit union the next day and they quickly reversed the transfer and I did not lose any money. It was a lot of paperwork and time but I could not have asked for a more positive experience. It is important to note that this is at the Port Jefferson Station branch (as I do not know if the quality of this customer service applies to any other branches). My only qualm with Bethpage Federal Credit Union is that there are not a lot of locations as opposed to other banks or even another credit union such as TFCU. Other than that, this is a great credit union to have.

I absolutely love Bethpage Federal Credit Union. They are some of the best in the business when it comes to banking. The staff is always so kind to me when I walk in, It just feels like family. I was looking into some other credit unions around Long Island but I think Bethpage Federal Credit Union was the perfect fit for me. I have a branch right by me and the staff there is absolutely delightful. Also they have some of the best interest rates around Long Island. I checked all the credit unions and banks around me and far and away they have the best. If there is anything I could say to help you make your choice in a banking institution I would say to not limit your options but to keep Bethpage Federal Credit Union in the back of your mind.

Signed up with Bethpage after Chase started to charge me "account maintenance fees,” which is to say they started to charge me for their trouble in holding my money to lend out to others. Madness.
Switching over to Bethpage was pretty quick and they gave me a $50 sign up bonus. And no maintenance fees! Also, the staff with whom I have dealt has been without fail very friendly and competent. It's a nice place to do business really.
Indeed, I liked them so much that I then opened up another two Business Checking accounts for my businesses there. Same level of friendly service and no fees. Plus I got a $100 sign up bonus (each account) and .75% interest on all checking account balances.
In short, I can't really see how they can be beaten, for checking accounts at least. It really is better than a bank.

Bethpage Federal Credit Union is the most friendly, easy to use, and pro-customer bank I have ever used. The application for a checking and savings account is easy, and you receive your debit card the day you open your account. It is easy to deposit money, whether it be through their app and taking a photo of your check, or going to the bank and making the deposit with a teller. Their app for all platforms and their website provides an easy way to track all of your accounts with the bank. Their customer service over the phone is extremely helpful and you usually can talk to a person within minutes. Their hours are the ones that a typical bank would have and are open late on Fridays. Overall, I am extremely happy with Bethpage Federal Credit Union and plan to have accounts there for the long term.

Bethpage Credit Union is one of the best unions that I have been a part of thus far. I have had an account with them ever since my parents transferred over from Nassau Federal Credit Union when I was a teenager. Their rates are some of the best on Long Island in regard to interest rates and loan rates. I also have had to do international banking with them. It went incredibly smooth and whenever I had a problem with my account they made sure to take care of my issues promptly and with consideration to my needs. I would suggest to anyone who needs a new bank to go give Bethpage Credit Union a try.
