Primis Checking Accounts

The interest rate for the Primis Premium Checking is awesome. I love knowing that I can leave more money in my HYCA than is needed for all my autopay bills and know I'm earning good interest (not 0.05%) on the extra money. I love the Perks Checking too! 50 cents earned every swipe! No fees. No hoops. ATM fee reimbursement. Great customer service.

Great rates but not supported by Plaid. If you want to set up transfers with other financial institutions, gyms, etc., and they rely on Plaid as their platform, you won't be able to. Plaid doesn't recognize Primis's routing number. As a result, I am closing my checking account and will seek out a credit union/bank that is supported. Primis recognizes there is an issue and can only provide a template email. This doesn't work as companies rely on platforms like Plaid since they are electronic and don't rely on the human element. It's a big inconvenience if you rely on financial dealings with other companies.

Terrible customer service. Can't connect accounts to services like Mint, YNAB, or Rocket Money. Many banks don't even seem to register their routing numbers. Super sketchy.

Stock is tanking and apparently they've had employees committing fraud for over a decade. What more do you need to know?

Although Primis is giving an excellent rate they having significant routing number issues that many institutions do not recognize. It is not allowing me to have just one checking account since 1/3 of the time I’m still having to use my old account.

So far the Checking and Savings are wonderful accounts to have. The personal checking pays .50 cents for each purchase you make. It the small print it states if it is abused, then your account could be closed. I did reach out and ask what is considered abuse and the response was something like if you making multiple purchase in small amounts trying to make a profit, then that would be abuse.
The online Personal Checking and Savings accounts are very good.
The only thing so far I do not like is when I attempted to reach a rep for something and the wait time changed from 20 minutes to a hour and half wait.
All other companies I ever dealt with in the last 40 years, the wait times never ever increased. So I hung up and emailed and got a response a week later. So if in a dire need to speak to a rep, not sure if that would happen in a timely manner.
Imagine because their offer is so great, many are opening accounts, but without proper customer service, a business can fail.

Was easy to open account. Linked several external bank accounts within minutes. Funding went smoothly as well. Complimentary checkbooks arrived as expected.

Reverse linkage completed as well, except for Citizens Access. In other words, Primis initiated ACH to Citizens is set up, but Citizens has a problem to link to Primis. All other banks recognize linkage so I can initiate ACH transfer from either side. All banks are recognized by Primis, so with Citizens having a problem, I would have to initiate an ACH transfer from the Primis portal only to transfer funds to my Citizens account.

It has been over two weeks and Citizens still hasn't fixed the bug at their end! Shame on Citizens Access; not what you would expect from an FDIC bank. Similar problems are common in "third world" banking systems. Seriously!

So far I am receiving the correct interest rate I signed up for. What I have learned in the short time I've had these accounts: Don't expect any help, or answers to questions from this bank. I received a response to my email 11 days after sending it, which by then their answer was irrelevant. When you call you cannot get through. I have tried several times at different times of the day, with the same response. The quoted hold times are erroneous. The system automatically transferred my call to customer service when there was a problem activating my husbands debit card. I started on the call with a projected hold time of 20 minutes. The message had repeated that I had reached 14 minutes finally (it goes through the same cycle of messages while on hold). The next time the message repeated it said I was now at over 42 minutes of projected hold time. WTH?!? Did they all go to lunch and just leave the calls sitting in queue?!? Worst (non-existent) customer service ever experienced!!!

Horrible bank! Do not bank with them! They bought Sona bank, who was a decent bank, and started charging me fees that were not part of my original agreement with the bank. Phone customer service went down the drain and they would say that it is policy, when it wasn't the policy that I signed. A horrible company took over a decent local bank. Boycotting!

Worst bank in VA. They will unlawfully hold your money and make every excuse in the book to not give it back. I made 2 deposits 12 days ago and they said there closing my account because of the proximity of where I live to the bank. They currently have over $2,700 and made no effort to give it back to me. It’s been so bad I had to contact the federal reserve to put a complaint in. Don’t bank here!!
