Taking Advantage of the Elderly
On January 13, 2024, Leticia Calvillo failed to disclose the promotional balance transfer fee or the interest rate for using a cashier's check to pay off a higher credit card balance sent by mail. She also did not explain the options to my 67-year-old husband.
It took more than four days for the other credit card institution to receive the cashier's check. As a result, we were charged by both institutions at the same time for the $14,000 balance.
None of this information was explained to my husband.
So today, January 24, 2024,
I spoke to the assistant manager, Scarlett Lozano,
who confidently stated that they had not made any mistakes and that there was nothing she could do about it.
She said it would be okay to file a complaint with the corporate office or the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
