Looking at this card, I see that it has many features that other secured credit cards share in its class: No credit check, reports to credit bureaus, requires deposits and the like. Things start to head south when I notice the $59 annual fee AND the $100 onetime fee. I've had experience with a Bank of America secured credit card and its conditions are much more lax compared to the Millennium’s. Things like a $39 annual fee with no mandatory one-time fee and 25 day grace period are what make the card much more sensible to those looking to rebuild their credit as compared to this. If you’re really looking for the best secured card, you should steer clear from these guys.

Reading the first part of the description, the New Millennium Bank Secured Platinum Visa starts to look like a great credit card. Your deposit earns 2% interest, you can get approved with minimal credit, and the interest rate is even below my current Bank of American Platinum World Points Credit Card (which is above 25% APY!). Then you get to the annual fee of $59, which actually wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the $99.95 one-time sign up fee. So now I'm out $458.95 (including the $300 deposit) and I have a credit card that doesn't have any grace period. Even worse, I get charged $20 for going over the limit! Not only does Bank of America's Platinum Plus Visa not charge me an "Overlimit Fee," but it gives me world points that I can exchange for cash, travel items, or even go shopping on their "World Points Mall," which is really a bunch of common websites where I can exchange my points for the items they sell. This card has no rewards program, no grace period, and too many fees. I can't get on board. There's a few perks but there are way better credit cards out there than this one. Nowadays, I think cards need to offer customers points programs to really stay competitive. I wonder if New Millennium offers any other credit cards that might be worth checking out…
