Wouldn’t recommend this bank If there was a Neg star ..I’d give it 2 neg
My payroll check was charged back because they could not read authorized signature I received no messages, no mailings, no alerts Called proactively, and assure me that all was cleared up. Then later that day I went to use my mobile App ... found out my mobile access was suspended. So now I can’t even manage my acct Not even my fault. Communication is very poor. So I’ll be moving my hard earned money somewhere else. ?

I have just opened a Woodforest banking account maybe two months ago and at first everything was going good I could transfer money from my savings to checking and vis versa and today I view my online statements of my savings account and there's fifteen yes I said 15 2.00$ charges all from yesterday the 25 of Aug 2019 all for "excessive withdrawals" I used my card two time yesterday and the atm once.. I'm horrified by this I'm a blue collar man and only make 700 a week I can't afford to give money away so I have withdrawn my money from this account and my checking and I will continue to withdrawle all my money on direct deposit days.. I will not have my money stolen from me under false pretenses. I work hard for every dollar I earn and I only trust me now I'll save my money and I will insure my own money.. sorry everyone's being scammed.. smh

My experience has not been great at all. I closed out a CD that I had jointly with my son so if anything happened to me. I attempted to close the account but they would not allow me to close it without my son. I got my son the go with me to close it out when he returned home because he is in the service. The next month they took the same amount out of my checking account that I was paying on the loan I had on my CD. This happened for several months before I noticed it until they took my whole social security check because I also had a checking account. When I inquired about it they claimed it was to pay the loan of against the CD. I was told that my son who was out of town came back the next day and borrowed money against a closed account. When I told them he was out of town they claimed he did it a month later. I have been trying to get this removed form my credit report for 3 years and get the money back that they took from me.

So far so good. I gave 4 Stars because of the lack of no charge ATMs in my area and their horrible call center customer service. Hope that you never have to deal with that, and that most of your issues can be handles within a branch. The alleged "supervisor" that I spoke sounded ignorant as a box of rocks and was only a supervisor so that some sort of quota could be reached.
You do know that all walmarts have ATMs that won't charge you... and you can always get cash at a checkout lane.

I generally like Woodforest National Bank. I have both the checking and savings account and, like with most banks, I think that it's best to have both products. Customer service at Woodforest is great in the actual branch but over the phone... Not so much. Woodforest is also good for doing a lot of promotions so anyone that may be looking for a new or additional bank, this is a good pick. They usually give cash or other promo rewards for opening an account. Transferring between the Woodforest checking and savings account is instantaneous. I think they could improve by offering more online tools to track your savings and achieve savings goals.
I opened a savings account with Woodforest last summer when I opened a checking account there. I declined a savings account at first but they offered me $20 to open one. They put that money in the account just for opening it. I've never used it and it still shows $20 so I haven't been charged any fees and haven't recieved any interest on it. I was told that I had to keep it open for six months to keep the $20 so I could close it now and take the $20 but I'm thinking I'll start saving and tie it to my checking account for overdraft protection. Woodforest has been a great bank overall.
This is not bad as far as savings accounts go. Woodforest National Bank is very low fee which is nice if you don't have a lot of money but you want to have an emergency safety net. You will not make any money with this account, that is for sure though. I earn a maximum of 50 cents every quarter, so every three months, and I have a fairly large chunk of change in the account. That being said the account costs me no money, I find it very easy to stay above the fee minimum even when I had a car emergency and had to withdraw a large sum. The account charges me 2 dollars a withdraw after the three withdraws in an month. I have maybe paid the 2 dollars once.
My favorite part of this account is that it is linked to my checking account and I can do a transfer from my iPhone at the line in the grocery store if I need more money for my transaction. It's almost an immediate transfer.
I've had a regular checking account with Woodforest for a few years and recently opened a savings account with them. The application process was very smooth and I haven't had any problems with my account yet. The minimum balance is very manageable and is a great incentive for me to save at least a little bit of money out of my check each month. The interest rate is mediocre but definitely not the worst out there and is more than adequate for a low balance savings account such as mine. The only reason this is rated 4 stars instead of 5 is because there aren't any good locations near me and going into Walmart to bank is a little bit of a hassle. Luckily I don't have to go in too often for my savings account!
We just opened this savings account with Woodforest National Bank and so far I would have to say that we love it. Since it was a joint savings account that we opened they automatically deposited $50 into our account. It is ours to do with it what we want. If we close the account in a month we still get to keep the $50.00. I have been banking with them for almost 3 years and I really love them compared to other banks that I have used. We also opened up an account for each of our daughters. The service is always great and the few issues we have had they have fixed right away.
I have a savings account through Woodforest bank, and while it's not bad, it's definitely not the best. Sometimes their customer service agents don't seem to really know what they're talking about, and I had a little difficulty understanding some of the disclosures since the person who explained all my account information to me didn't really explain it in a way that was easy to understand. Eventually, though, I managed to find a person who could explain things to me in clearer terms, so now it isn't so bad. The rates aren't bad at all and it's great that I can access my account any time I go to a Walmart to do some shopping, since most of them have Woodforest banks in the front end of the store. Overall, I can say that Woodforest Bank is an alright bank, especially if you're looking for a convenient location.
