Without a doubt the last bank I'd ever recommend to anyone. We are in the process of paying off the mortgages on two properties and the complete lack of interest in the customer experience is only to be out done by their foot dragging at every step.
We paid off one mortgage on the second and have yet to see the refund of the overage. Fundamentally Fremont Bank got a free month's use of the money.
When I called this afternoon I got the usual run around about the check being in the mail and that I just need to be patient. Funny, when they owe ME money, I have to be patient, but when you owe these sorry clodpates money it is another story.
The second issue was around paying off the mortgage on the other property. Went to the website, put in the request, agreed to pay the spurious $30 Statement fee and got NOTHING.
Three days later contacting the bank, another run around.
"You never submitted the request"
Here is the receipt!
"Oh, well our system was being updated".
Why is that my problem?
"You have to send us a fax"
I haven't used a fax machine since the end of the 20th Century.
And on and on and on.
Stay away from this "Family owned bank" and find a professional one.

TERRIBLE BANK! Don't waste your time. Strung me along for 3 months; paid application fee and appraisal..over $500! They later rejected my loan and said it was due to delinquent accounts and new credit which was totally false. I have excellent credit and no delinquent accounts or new credit. Sham!

After my original mortgage got sold over to Fremont Bank, they would intentionally mail out my monthly bills very late in the billing cycle (one or two days before the due date) so that I would end up paying a late penalty. When I called them to complain they would say they're sorry there was a delay processing the bills but could not waive the late fee. They did not provide any online payments for mortgage customers, not sure if they do now.
