SCAMMERS. Called several times to cancel my policy. Always was told "yes sir, it is cancelled." Always lied to. Spent many hours on the phone with them. Useless. Now it's costing me $600 on my taxes. Stay far away.

I have had Medica for over a year now, and it has been the worst experience I have ever had with a health insurance company. I am currently paying $700 a month for medical insurance as a 25-year-old with no dependents, and the providers that accept this insurance are below subpar. The website that shows which providers you can use is incorrect as well - so before you find anyone that takes the provider, you'll spend hours on the phone with people that do not service you. It has been the worst possible experience ever, and I wouldn't recommend this provider to anyone. I paid far less when I was with BCBS, and they had their business far more in order.

I have had Medica Medicare Supplement insurance for many years. I moved to Florida, faxed in my disenrollment information, but they continue to electronically deduct monthly payments from my bank account. I've asked for a supervisor to call me, to no avail. I have now moved all my funds out of the bank to stop them from charging me. Terrible company. Like the Eagles song "Hotel California", you can check in, but you can never check out. Avoid.

Horrible, I just canceled them. Since I have had them, I can't go to the dentist because it's not covered. I can't refill my mental illness meds because it's not covered, and I can't get an eye exam, lenses, and frames because it's not covered. I can't even go to the doctor's office because, for some odd reason, I now have to pay a $20 co-pay. And they are deducting unauthorized monthly charges of $185, and I have had to pay out-of-pocket costs of $856 so far. I requested an unlimited loaded bus card so I can get to and from my appointments, and they had the nerve to send me a bus card with no balance on it. The bus driver wouldn't let me on the bus. Is there a way that I can get all my money back from them, especially since I didn't sign anything stating that they could deduct anything from my disability check?

What a horrible insurance. I have not yet been able to create my online portal, and my son's pediatrician submitted a prescription for an EpiPen (life-threatening allergies) and Medica rejected it. How does that happen?

I have had Medica Minnesota for about 9 years. I never had any problems until now. I have an autoimmune disease and was taking medication for it for a year. My doctor sent another prescription, which was denied; we both filed appeals, and it was overturned. That was 3 months ago. I have not had my medication for four months. I have called and been disconnected with no return call. I sent an email, which says they will respond in 24 hours. No one has contacted me yet. This is unacceptable. I will be informing my employer and contacting the independent review board to find out what I can do.

The app is broken; it doesn't show virtual care options. I tried to call for help with the app, but you have to have multiple accounts with Medica to see which providers you can choose. It's overcomplicated, with not enough support, indicative of a broken system in general. The people working within their bureaucracy seem not to care, clearly reflecting poorly on the insurance company.

My wife accidentally threw away a 90-day supply of sertraline. Medica would not cover a replacement, and I was left to either pay $400 out of pocket or go off the medication cold turkey. To the shock of my doctor and my pharmacy, Medica did nothing to help me. No override, nothing. I was told by Medica that I had already received two overrides within the past year and couldn't have another one for 180 days. There's a big problem with that statement; I have only been insured with them for six months, and I didn't know what an override was until they told me I wasn't eligible. I filed a grievance and never received a response. I called to follow up on the grievance and was disconnected three times after being placed on hold for 30 minutes each time. After almost two hours, I spoke with someone who just repeated the same points I filed the grievance about. They do not care about your health, only profits. If I could give them zero stars, I would.

Errors, horrific customer service. Medica went and canceled my new insurance coverage. Yes, I paid the premium for January 2025 and they canceled the coverage. Then, the customer service representative lied on the phone about it. I called on January 2, 2025, and she told me that Healthcare.gov had canceled my coverage. An outright lie was spoken to me on the phone. Horrific customer service. Do yourself a favor and select any healthcare company other than Medica.

Awful experience from start to finish. From their policies to their support, this company falls short in every way. The lead support person was shockingly rude, and the only 'help' offered was the option to file a grievance. No one seems knowledgeable or willing to assist with anything. The insurance itself covers almost nothing—we paid thousands only to receive zero coverage, poor customer service, and we never even received our insurance cards in the mail. An absolute disappointment and by far the worst insurance I've ever purchased.

No complaints. After an ER visit and the prostate surgery that followed, all of my out-of-pocket expenses were exactly as expected. No surprises—just like an insurance company should be.

Terrible company. I called to find out who the care coordinator is for a special needs foster who lives with me and needs medical care. This person should have been at her annual team meeting and was not. Erica - the person who took the call in MN - would not pass my name onto the care coordinator so she could call me and tell me what she needs from me, so we can get this special needs person medical help. She didn't lift a finger to do one thing in a 10-minute call to put some care in place for this person who has a plan with Medica. The customer service here is non-existent. I also had pressed the button to take a survey. There, of course, was no survey offered at the end of the call. They don't want to know how bad it is.

Calls are pitiful. Cannot get answers to questions. Have trouble understanding the reps who are answering the phones. Think they are out of the country. This insurance company has some serious issues. Why are brokers putting people into this coverage?

We do not receive ERAs in time for payments. When you call, you speak with offshore staff who cannot assist. Over an hour of wasted time each time.
