Ancorum Credit Union’s mission is to help its members achieve financial well?being and to grow and serve members, staff, and volunteers. It began in 1956 as a credit union for Bath Iron Works employees and expanded over time, including multiple charter expansions to serve residents of twelve counties in Maine. In August 2025 the organization adopted the name Ancorum Credit Union to reflect its broader membership. They will wait until you have just under the amount needed to process a bill so they can charge their $30 fee. This could be a $30 courtesy fee or a $30 arbitrary fee. I asked them to simply reject transactions if I don't have enough and they removed the courtesy fee, which means they're charging me $30 without even paying whatever the bill was. They didn't process my bill for a week until I was a dollar short, then charged me a fee before I could transfer the money from another bank account, which was right after I made a purchase. I monitored them every morning to ensure there was no fee being taken out and that I had enough money for all my bills, yet they still maneuver things so that I end up paying them $90 a month. I would advise avoiding this credit union!

They charged me $37 to send a check to my landlord and to close my account, but the check never got sent to my landlord, and I didn't get a refund for it. They are not a good bank; they remove members for incidents that occur. I was deceived by a guy, and they said it was my fault, which it wasn't. I switched to a better bank, M&T Bank, which is much better than Five County. I would never use Five County again and advise anyone considering it to refrain, as they are not very nice at all. They are supposed to support their members, but they don't. They charge you $25 to be a member, which only leads to more fees, including charges for overdrafts, transfer fees, and new debit cards, which other banks do not do. With M&T Bank, if anyone tries to charge my account, they check with me first. They won't let it go through if the money isn't there, and they don't charge me a fee like Five County did. Five County Credit Union in Walmart in Scarborough is terrible. The manager knew me and was mean, and I was expelled, which is why I will never go back. Five County is the worst credit union I have ever been a part of, and I hope they go out of business. If I had a way to contact the CEO, I would express my grievances.

Unfortunately, I was scammed by someone, and then I was deceived again when they impersonated a different person. As a result, the bank closed my account, informing me that I can no longer hold a savings or checking account with them. I will never do business with them again. It's better to consider Opportunities Credit Union or other credit unions in the area.

This credit union is decent for small personal loans and other things small but big personal loans they are horrible! I have been with this credit union for years, paid my bills on time and needed a larger personal loan to consolidate bills and was denied. I have a decent credit score, money coming in but turned down because of really ...essentially saying no experience with bigger loans.... i think they are going by their ESG score that brandon has put out to banks or you get taken over by the government. These people remind me of Evergreen CU....yet another atrocious credit union that goes by the way of big government. Sad!!!! Will be closing my account soon.

When I want a credit union to act like a bank I'll do business with a bank instead. Lackluster at best, shitty service and now they have begun to strip away at your savings for service fees which basically makes them suck the green goo off a dead skunk's ass. Closed my account immediately when I found out. Fuck em. They wanted to be big dogs and screwed the pooch.

I’ve banked with many institutions in my years. By far they are the worst. They shut off everyone’s debit cards, because of sending out new ones. My son has been away for weeks and doesn’t have his new one. He didn’t receive any messages, email or mail. Now he can’t get gas to get home from work. The bank said there is nothing they can do. Awful banking procedures

Five County Credit Union is a great company to have a checking account with. Their service is fantastic and they go above and beyond if you're having trouble with anything. We recently switched to Five County Credit Union after years at a bigger bank, and dealing with Five County has been like a breath of fresh air.

We went to Five County Credit Union for the mortgage on our new house. We had an excellent experience there. The branch manager sat down with us to fill out the application and explain the mortgage process. She answered all of our questions with lots of details. She was with us every step of the way. She even came to the closing to make sure everything was all set on the financial end. Five County offered us the best terms for a mortgage of any company in the area, but what really made the company worth choosing was the excellent customer service. They went above and beyond to answer our questions and be there when we needed them.

The customer service at Five County Credit Union is phenomenal. Not only are they patient and accommodating, but are willing to go the extra mile to help solve your every need. They have numerous branches and host a very user-friendly online banking website. They are also a member of the fraternity of credit unions allowing banking solutions at establishments nationwide. I would highly recommend Five County Credit Union to all my friends and family for truly quality service.

I have a summer home on the east coast, so when I'm spending time on the east coast, whether it be during the summer, or otherwise, I use Five County Credit Union. I've rarely had any problems using them. Maybe a few customer service and disclosure issues, but for the most part they've been very good to me. Most of the time they're very easy to deal with and any process I have to go through is relatively painless. They're not as good as the credit union I use here at home, but they're definitely a very good place to do business with.

I just started with this credit union recently and I can say that I am very pleased with it so far. I applied online which was very straightforward and simple. It allowed me to fund the account right from the application page. After a couple of days I got a call from customer service and was told that I would need to go to a branch to finish opening my account. So I went to the nearest branch and the staff was very friendly and helpful when it came to opening my account. After it was open I was able to access my account online and I received my debit card in the mail. Anytime that I need help I get it very quickly and they are very kind and helpful. I like the ease of use when it comes to online management.

My wife and I have banked with Five County Credit Union for approximately ten years. The bank has gone through many changes over the years, some good, some not so good. The customer service at the bank is trying to catch up with the times. In doing so, there are many areas that need to be improved. My personal bank has been remodeled to accommodate for their size increase. I walked in the other day to talk to someone about a charge on my account I didn't recognized. I stood at the counter for five minutes before someone asked if they could help me. I have to say though, they took care of the charge, called the company and I was credited my money back on the spot. Over all compared to some of the places I have banked with Five County has been dependable and reliable.
