I had opened a Money Market Certificate a few years back. I earned an average of $50 a month. When the Certificate matured, I didn't receive the money that I had earned.
I called and talked to a Sales Associate, who was impolite, and she contacted her Manager to explain the situation. Apparently, I used money from the certificate, so that canceled all future earnings. The manager said that I should have been notified, but I wasn't.
The account still showed that I was earning an average of $50 a month. The Manager said that there was nothing that they could do, and the funds could not be reversed.
Unfortunately, he was very impolite in explaining this to me. Due to this unpleasant situation, I will be closing my account after 40 years.
Seriously!
I have had the correct app the entire time and even checked my Apple App Store on my device. It reads no updates. Could anybody at Global Credit Union have this issue corrected, please? It makes me nervous. Thank you, and have a nice day!
Just recently, my account was hacked. The bank immediately contacted me when they noticed the unusual activity and didn't hesitate to take action to resolve the problem at hand. This was unlike Wells Fargo Bank, whom I used to bank with; they allowed all the money in my account to be withdrawn and would not compensate me for the loss. Global Credit Union blocked the transaction and reached out to me by phone, text, and email. I truly appreciate that. The representative reviewed all the faulty attempts to retrieve money from my account and immediately terminated my old card and mailed out a new one. Right on, Global Credit Union. You are alright with me. You are definitely a keeper. I am going to stand by you until the wheels come off! Keep up the great work.
Oh yes, I have a request. Can we get you to partner with Zelle because the app doesn't work? I always have issues with it. That would put the icing on the cake for me. Thanks again, GCU!
Back in December 2022, I decided to close my secured credit card account, for which I had deposited $500. I went to the bank in person and requested to close the account and receive my $500 back. However, they refused to return my money immediately, claiming it would take three days to process. When I asked why it couldn't be done right away, the employee simply said it wasn't possible and required additional time.
To make matters worse, the employee also closed my checking account, charging a penalty because I had only maintained $1,500 instead of depositing more money as per their policy. Essentially, they penalized me for them using my money for years, without offering any compensation in return.
Now, more than two years later, I still have not received my $500 from the credit card. I've called and written to them multiple times, only to be told the check was sent to me. When I informed them I never received any check, they provided no resolution. My attorney even contacted them, demanding they return my money with interest for the time they held it, but the bank still failed to respond appropriately. When I requested a copy of the check they supposedly sent, they ignored me.
It's unimaginable that a bank could treat its customers so poorly. If you value your money and peace of mind, steer clear of this institution at all costs!
I deposited a large check and there was no attempt to communicate with me about the release of the check hold, outside of my own communication with the 800 number. If I hadn't followed up, it was very clear that no one from the branch where I deposited would be reaching out to me.
As soon as it clears on Monday, I will be moving the majority of the funds elsewhere, and Global, formerly Arrowhead and Alaska, will not be my primary banking institution anymore.
We're breaking up, and you deserve it.
