Accidentally chose HAPO as my checkout when using PayPal, and it auto retried the transaction multiple times and HAPO charged $28 each attempt since it would overdraw. Called them and their was nothing they could do. Simple mistake cost me. Never had a problem getting help from other banks I use for simple mistakes.

Just really not a fan anymore. Paid off an entire loan through them about 5 months after I got it, the newest loan just leaves a lot to be desired. I've been given information multiple times now and then I get a call back a couple hours later and all the information that was previously provided, that I verified, is no longer accurate. Frustrating to say the least.

Never had so much problem working with any bank. lot of trouble in getting the insurance updated. Got car loan in Nov and had my insurance till Dec 31st missed to update the line holder name, i changed my insurance on Jan 1st and the line holder name added. Bank reached out to me for insurance information which i provided both. in the month of march they sent a letter saying if don't get the line holder name added to my past insurance they change me the money for that period. I spoke to multiple of ppl in and of no use. because of not having the line holder name these guys charged me $875. for 45 days insurance which is insane.. I've never do business with this bank any more.

Never had so much trouble paying a loan. To pay you must transfer funds from an external account into the savings account, which takes 3-4 days and then transfer into the loan. It should not be that hard just to make a payment. I will NEVER use again.

Not only is their website absolutely atrocious, but this bank has completely ruined my credit after I was dinged for not paying a bill that they never informed me of. I awoke to find that my credit score dropped 110 points. Thanks Hapo. Go to a different credit union that cares about their customers.

Never been treated so poorly by a credit union will be taking my business elsewhere. Rude staff that just say "thats how it is" instead of working with me. Charged ne 1300 for a month of insurance when USAA app errored.

customer service is good. However, the credit union itself is a hassle. When I sent a check to pay off my loan they tell me i will need to have $5 in my account. So I owed $5. There is no other way to pay that off like use credit card. I can only mail them a check for $5 or wire them. What? now is 1950? ridiculous bank.

Overall I’ve been happy with HAPO. The reason for the 2 stars is because I am not able to access my cash/direct deposit until 9am when the bank opens. I used to be able to have access to my direct deposit on Thursday’s. Now they don’t deposit until Friday’s. There should be a way customers are given access to their funds at 12:01am. Why do we need to wait until 9am? I’m sure for a lot of people this is an inconvenience. I know it is for me most times. Is there a reason for this?

I was previously satisfied with HAPO because they got me a great rate on my car loan; the only problem I had with them was mussing up an address change. But as of May 2015, they do not let you pay your loan bill without tacking on an additional $12 (online) or $20 (by phone) JUST TO PAY THE BILL. That's an outrageous additional monthly charge on top of the finance/interest they were already charging. If they need money to maintain their system, it should be more like $2-4 or folded into finance charges. I am paying off my loan and closing my account with them as soon as possible, and will never use HAPO again unless they reverse this decision.
