This bank treated me like a criminal for trying to cash a legitimate payroll check. I drove over 40 minutes to the Cadence Bank branch on 10/31/25 to cash a corporate check from a well-known local business. I provided two forms of ID and stayed polite the entire time— but the teller implied the check could be stolen and wasted over 30 minutes repeatedly calling after hours while glaring at me as if I had done something wrong.
The manager stormed out with zero professionalism—no greeting, no apology—and said they wouldn't cash the check unless the account holder called them within nine minutes before closing. Completely ridiculous and humiliating.
After leaving, I looked up the bank... Turns out Cadence has a history of corruption:
Caught redlining by the Department of Justice
Charging illegal fees (ATM and overdraft even when funds existed)
Multiple class-action lawsuits
Rebranding to hide their past instead of fixing it
If this is how they treat non-clients with a valid check... imagine how they treat their own customers. Avoid this place at all costs, do not give them your business.

After twenty years of banking with Cadence, they abruptly terminated my relationship because I sent and received funds through Coinbase, a regulated U.S. crypto exchange registered with the SEC and FinCEN. There was nothing illegal, no fraud, no suspicious activity, just normal financial transactions that any modern institution should understand. They just didn't like how I was engage in cryptocurrency trading.
Cadence actually told me they “do not engage in crypto activities,” as if simply moving money to or from a licensed exchange somehow violates their moral code. That’s not policy, that’s ignorance. The rest of the financial world, including Congress and major banks, is working toward responsible crypto adoption and regulation. Meanwhile, Cadence acts like the internet just arrived last week.
After twenty years of trust, I was treated like a liability for participating in an industry that’s shaping the future of finance. This bank is a complete joke, stuck in the past, punishing customers for being ahead of the curve. This is another reason why so many people are growing frustrated with centralized banking. Decentralization is the future and crypto is leading the charge. If you believe your money should be yours to move freely and responsibly, do yourself a favor and bank somewhere else.

They placed a forced insurance policy on my property. It has not been removed three months later, even though I emailed them proof of insurance and followed up weekly at my local branch. I finally went to the main branch in town, where I was given a website to upload the documents myself after three months of asking why the charges had not been reversed. Absolute incompetence. Getting a straight answer from them on anything is like playing a game with a 5-year-old. They just make up rules as they go.

One of the many reasons we closed our Cadence Bank business accounts was that they didn't provide good customer service, were difficult to manage technologically, and lacked ease of banking. Today reaffirmed that decision. A vendor mistakenly wired a payment to our old account a month ago. I called a branch today and was told I needed to speak to a different department to see when or if the payment was sent back. That was no big deal; I totally understand. However, the number he transferred me to was a non-working extension. It could have been an honest mistake. I then looked up the business banking information line and called. The lady I spoke with said she couldn't help me or transfer me to someone who could. I would have to email customer service because they send all wires back. I mentioned that since it had been a month, if it was sent back, the vendor would have received it by now. I asked if the customer service email could tell me when the money was sent back or provide proof so I could show the vendor and request a reissue of the payment. She became angry and reiterated that I needed to email customer service. I tried to explain my situation and the urgency of needing proof, but she hung up on me.
Although individual employees within Cadence Bank may be kind and offer a different level of service, the general customer service is severely lacking, and the business banking is far behind in technology, ease of banking, app functionality, and the ability to work from anywhere in the country, or when traveling OCONUS. I give 0 out of 5 stars and do not recommend using Cadence Bank.

Cadence is a joke! They want to ensure you have at least $250 in your checking account "every day", yet when you make deposits or transfer money over, it takes days to appear in your account. This delay occurs even on non-weekend and non-holiday days. It's ridiculous, and they shouldn't be able to hold your money in limbo. If you deposit money and attempt to use it while it's still "pending" for days, I'm sure they would penalize you for that, even though the money is there. I'd give negative five stars if I could.

Total piece of junk bank. They took $500 from our checking account little by little with "service" and "dormant" fees that they never bothered to send us any notification about until finally, when there was no money left in the account, they then had the audacity to finally mail us a notice that we owed them another $8 on top of the $500 they took. Worst bank ever. Avoid at all costs.

Avoid their credit cards. Had my son's card updated for Bahamas travel last week. The ship said the card was declined. This is the third time this has happened (shame on me). Called back and they still couldn't get it fixed. I quit using their card 10 years ago and got a Discover, and it works great. Can't select zero.

Do not bank with Cadence Bank! They make it extremely difficult to withdraw your money. My mother began banking with Cadence Bank when they took over her original financial institution. She passed away in June 2024 and had several accounts with Cadence Bank, which included checking, savings, IRA, and CDs for her grandchildren and two daughters, all designated as payable on death. They would only allow us to withdraw the money in person if both parties, my sister and I, were present. The issue is that we do not live near a Cadence Bank branch, and they know this. Each time an account matured and needed withdrawal, my sister and I had to plan trips from two different cities to facilitate the transaction, which was highly inconvenient and time-consuming, causing a loss of wages from our jobs and incurring travel expenses. One grandchild lives in another state, and to receive his beneficiary funds from the account in his name, he must appear at the branch my mother used for her investments. Finally, the bank demands that my 11-year-old son, a named beneficiary on a CD, be present so I, his mother and legal guardian, can withdraw his funds, causing him to miss school. Every other financial institution my mother utilized (two others) was accommodating and helpful with this process; Cadence, not so much. I understand the policy and regulations, but the inconvenience this bank has caused and the difficulty in withdrawing money has been stressful and prolonged, especially as our family continues to grieve the loss of my mother. Nine months later, the bank still has four accounts we cannot close for the above reasons. Warning! Do not use this bank!

BEWARE! There is something going on with this bank, particularly the branch in Sherman, Texas. I noticed discrepancies in my account balance. An $8,000 unauthorized withdrawal was deducted from my account. Luckily, I caught this; it had gone unnoticed for three weeks. The bank said it was an oversight on their part. The money was deposited back into my account. Now I'm on high alert. I noticed that three weeks before the $8,000 incident, there was another withdrawal of $3,000 made at the bank. It had another customer's name on it, with supposedly my signature and account number, deducted from my account. A back office somewhere will look into it, I was told. There is also a $1,000 withdrawal that has come into question. All withdrawals were made at the bank. The bank said this happened because another customer had visited the bank prior. Another oversight on their part. The bank said the amount, date, and account number were correct; only the name was incorrect. I called the customer whose name appeared in question on the withdrawal. The customer states his banking routine does not consist of withdrawals, only checks or deposits. There is no reason the bank would have had a prepared withdrawal slip with this customer's name for two reasons: 1. He fills out forms entirely. 2. His normal banking routine does not consist of withdrawals. The bank's response was simple—oversight on their part, and they didn't catch the conflicting information on the withdrawal, and they had also made an error when they prepared the slip ahead of time. It should have been a deposit slip. All that being said, I was called and notified a cashier's check was waiting for me. My account had been closed. WHAT!?

So the bank is down; they change policy on overdraft regularly and make up rules. You are supposed to be able to deposit same-day cash, but they charge you anyway when you do. And now we have no access to our money for three days. But we are supposed to be patient! Worst bank ever.

Supposedly, this bank has locked all our account activities and isn't explaining what's happening with our money. Just wait for them to get around to depositing your hard-earned money, which is supposed to be automatically deposited from my job. The bank can't provide any information; therefore, the bank does not operate independently; someone else makes the calls for this bank. So, your money is not really your money. Do not trust any banks with your money ever, especially this bank. I've had nothing but problems with fraud, which a bank should be able to prevent from being taken fraudulently. However, no bank can guarantee this; therefore, it's unreliable. Don't bank with Cadence; they are disappointing.

I wish I had read reviews sooner. I needed a new debit card due to puppy issues on November 27th, 2024. I went in, and the agent changed my address to ship my new card. I went back on December 17th, 2024, and learned the original agent in November never ordered my card. This agent said that with the holidays, it could take longer. It is now January 17th, 2025, and I still haven't received my card. When I emailed, there was no answer. Chatting on the app was not possible as their system was down. When I called, no one answered.
