I'm giving Bankwell the highest score possible for having one of the last 5% plus CD interest rates available during the continued downturn in interest rates. My ACH transfer went in without any problems. The bank returned the matured CD funds to the account I funded the CD with quickly and without any hassle at all. They have a clunky, old-school website and app that was simple enough to navigate. I just set and forget CDs, never having much interaction with banking staff. Customer service powered by AI seems to work smoothly, but I admittedly didn't do much business with them except when I requested to close out my CD when it matured, and my interest was posted. Yes, I would recommend Bankwell CDs to a friend, as long as their rates remain competitive.

Can you talk about lack of communication and transparency? My CD matured and I wanted to close my account. There was no communication. I called the bank and sent them all the documentation they requested, but got no response. I called them again and this time they said they needed a video call to get a picture of me with my driver's license. I did that. Seven days later, still nothing. I called them again and they said they need a video call. I informed them I had already done that and now they're looking into it. I would not ever trust this bank with my money.

opened a business checking and saving acct. WORSE BANK EXPERIENCE EVER. DO NOT USE THIS BANK. their IT and atm machines are from the dawn of technology, they "upgraded" their online banking which was tied to my Quickbooks online account which caused my book-keeping to need to be all re-entered at a hefty fee from a consultant. Their banking hours were changed unilaterally and shortened with just an e-mail from the bank, tellers at many of their branches are difficult to work with (particularly the Wilton branch) and I could go on from here. There is not a single positive thing I can say about this bank; run from it.

How can I transfer my Bankwell CD funds after maturity?

You can transfer your Bankwell CD funds after maturity through an internal transfer if you have another account with Bankwell or through an external transfer.

To make an external transfer, you need to link your account. Log in to your Bankwell online banking account and click the "Link Account" button to connect an external bank account. Once linked, use the "Transfer Money Now" option to move funds from your CD to the external account.
