Worst Bank! Tried to set up an account online. They don't send you your account number which you need to be able to setup online banking. When I tried to setup online profile it said congrats your online setup was successful. When I went to sign in a security code had to be sent, but all the numbers were not mine. So I must have used someone's username and their system did not say that the name was used. Had to call and they said my online application had failed but I would not know about it for 3 business days. An email could of quickly been sent out. Then once I did get setup online I tried setting up their app and it said invalid username and then my account was locked. Had to call back and found out that you can't use the app until the following day. Again a quick email or that stated online when signing up. The call center said that if I went into a bank to setup the account the banker would of told me everything. Who goes into a bank anymore??? Also their forms that they use online are so dated, probably early 2000's. When you type in your phone number you have to hit tab after the first 3 numbers. Really...find another website that still has that. I thought Bank of America was bad. This place should not be in business!
Horrible Experience - Not because I was denied. It was the way they go about it. As soon as you submit your app, there's a hard it on your credit. Then they ask for documents. Then more documents. Then, yep, more documents. Then, uploading the documents you need a special transfer grade for your PDF files otherwise they won't transmit. Then, you don't hear anything one way or the other. The only way you find out is by going online and looking up your app. Classless way to do business. I tried to be a customer and even opened a checking and savings account. It's a blessing they denied me based on these reviews. It would have been the road of distress for a lousy personal loan that I got elsewhere without jumping through every hoop imaginable.

Horrible customer service. Went there on a Friday to order foreign currency for vacation. Was told they had only one person who could help me and she had already left. So I went back on Saturday just to be told that this particular person does not work Saturdays and was referred to another branch. After I drove across town I found out that this other branch is closed on Saturdays. Back to the first branch where they told me that I could just call on Monday and everything could be done over the phone. Called Monday to find out that this particular person I needed had called in sick. When I called Tuesday she was too busy to take my call and when I explained the reason for my call I was informed that this transaction could NOT be done over the phone and that I would have to come to the bank in person. I replied that I can only come on Saturdays due to my work schedule and that this lady did not work Saturdays. Again, they tried to get me to go to the branch across town which I now know is closed on Saturdays. Aaaarrrggghhhh! Time to switch to another bank. Working on it.
7 months ago my car loan was paid in full and yet, they have continued to pull money from my account monthly. EVERY time I call and they promise it will be the last time it is taken and that there has been some mistake. As soon as the money is refunded to my account, they withdraw it again. RIDICULOUS, the experience has been awful and I would never do business with them again.
Worst bank EVER!! Horrible customer service! No one does their job! They have close to $2000 of my money from my escrow account. My loan is paid in full! Give me my money back. I have called at least 10 times and each time someone claims my check is being mailed. The latest phone call said it could take 60 days for my check to be issued! Are you kidding me? You are playing with MY money! Every day I’m aggravated because everyday is a new story with them. GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!! I received my check from my second mortgage holder in less than 7 days from time of payoff! GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!! You should be ashamed of yourselves! Stay clear away from Berkshire Bank.
Customer service is nasty and they lie! I was told for 5 days straight "its in Process" Only to be told today that no they will not pay the property taxes early out of my escrow! There is never is supervisor or someone higher up to speak with. They will continue to earn money on my money! And that's part of the reason I am refinancing to another bank!
TERRIBLE - STEER CLEAR! This bank tries to rope you in with specials and marketing that looks good on the service, but there are fees everywhere. For example, with my supposedly "free" checking account, they charge a $3.00 fee for EVERY outgoing external transfer. Just about every electronic/online transfer has a fee attached. To make matters worse, customer service is atrocious - incompetent AND rude. Their website is also very outdated and their phone app is clunky.
Wish I had read this before I got involved with their online personal loan processing. I had an easier time getting a mortgage than a small personal loan. Then, they never notify you of their decision. You have to go looking for their decision. What a s+++ show.

I have never encountered customer serve this awful!!!! Trying to help an elderly customer with a problem they caused and I have been on hold for 1hour 28 minutes just To speak to someone. This bank is the worst
I really would like to express my disappointment about the online banking system that is currently offered to Customers of Berkshire Bank. I cant see what transaction applies to (when you send out bill payments and then you see transactions on your statement - there is nothing to figure out who did you paid), also, instead of WHEN to deliver the bill (what date), you have "received by" date - that is another outrageous thing as I can't control how much balance I should have at any given point; I also cant sort transactions by "DESCRIPTION" by clicking on the work "DESCRIPTION". It is a very inconvenient system and I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY you making your customers go through hell with this. I used to be a customer at people's bank and I see you "borrowing" their online banking system, but at some very "basic" level of features there. I would like to stay with your company, but you have to do something about this. This online system is NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY.
P.S. and these are only a few “inconveniences” I mentioned here (as per Online Banking System) – there are more and I am ready to speak about them.
Berkshire Bank offers absolutely no help to individuals suffering from all the horrible things that COVID has brought us. I have been unemployed, but still trying to pay the car loan. They offer a one month payment extension AFTER you PAY them $50!! I have asked/begged them to excuse some of my $88/month late payment fees, but they would not. So I am struggling to pay the loan every month and have acquired late payment fees that are more than my loan amount. This bank is a monster!!!
