Total waste of time. After submitting an application online for a HELOC loan with stellar qualifications, including full-time employment with high income (over $270,000/year), stellar credit history and score, high assets and low liabilities, they replied after 3 days, declined me, and said, "We can only place HELOCs on properties in New York or the following Pennsylvania counties: Bradford, Susquehanna, and Wyoming." I live in Southern California, and my home is there.
This information was not stated on their website or in their loan application process. Instead, they allow you to submit the application, get a hard hit on your credit inquiry automatically, and then they decline you. Totally unprofessional.

Terrible customer service. Management lacks the leadership to own a problem and work to find a solution. I'm no longer a member due to the high fees and transactional interactions. Why would you bank locally when there's no local relationship? The best decision was to move to a national bank.

Based on strong recommendations, I joined Broadview Federal Credit Union, but my experience has been deeply disappointing. The institution shows little empathy or flexibility for members who are trying to recover financially after difficult times.
Despite setting up protections and alerts, transactions still go through unchecked, leaving my account vulnerable. I've lost significant money due to this and the accompanying fees. It feels as though only wealthier members receive genuine support or understanding.
It's unfortunate because I had hoped a credit union would be more community-focused and compassionate. After this experience, I plan to move my accounts to one of the newer, modern online banks that seem to prioritize transparency and empathy for all customers, not just those in perfect financial standing.

Worst Bank Ever - Exorbitant hidden fees everywhere, extremely disorganized. If you need to borrow money, do not do it from here. Nearly $1400 in hidden fees to close my HELOC, they froze my funds for an "unpaid tax bill," which I had paid, and no one was able to tell me where they had gathered that incorrect information from. AND their lending process is a nightmare… they flagged me as fraudulent during the underwriting process because they thought I was lying about which church I attended. ALSO, currently trying to close my account. I was told to transfer my balance first, so I did, but there is a FEE, so they charged me $3 for the transfer, but my account was now, of course, empty, so they charged me a $28 overdraft fee. NOW they are telling me I need to pay them $31 before they will close the account! Unbelievable!

Since the merger, they have been absolutely terrible to deal with. I called to ask for help with my loan due to a loss of income, and they were arrogant and had no interest in even trying to help. The first representative sounded like a robot when I explained I couldn't guarantee the payment for my loan next week due to the fact that I have lost almost $1,200 a month, causing me to be financially overdrawn. The only response was, "Would you like to set up next week's payment?" I explained again the financial hardship and asked if there was something they could do to help with a lower payment or a deferment, just for this month. She transferred me to another department where a guy asked why I was paying other bills if I didn't have the money. He proceeded to tell me to not pay them so I could be on time with my personal loan with Broadview instead. Never once have I had an overdraft fee with CapCom; now it's a constant $28 fee. Since they merged, somehow my ex, whom I added to my account, is now the primary, and the account is no longer mine. Their only solution is telling me to close the account and start a new one, even though I had this account long before I met her. They are rude, charge astronomical fees, and won't help unless you have money in hand. Stay away from Broadview. I will be looking for another bank. Over 15 years with the same account, and all my financing and loans have always been through CapCom. They let their arrogance and greed take over.

Their debit and credit cards are really terrible. Often times, I've had an issue where the chip would not read properly, and clerks at stores would say, "Yeah, that happens with Broadview (SEFCU)." The tech support is terrible.

I read a lot of the reviews since this merger took place, and I'm glad I'm not the only one saying the exact same thing. It's clearly obvious that customer complaints are ignored, as I too have escalated my concerns and have gotten nowhere. It's time to search for a new credit union or possibly another bank. CAPCOMFCU was for the upstate community, and now that this merger has taken place, I guess this is not the priority anymore. Sad!

Ever since Capcom merged with Broadview, their services have declined; the cards never work. The people are rude. It's just disgusting. I am so sorry. I am considering looking for a new bank.

I just sent in my second text two weeks ago. On Thursday, we had over $400 taken out by an unknown person who used it to buy sneakers. I've asked the branch that we go to please refund the money. Every time we ask, they say it's going to be 24 hours, or they don't work on the weekends. There's always some excuse for why we haven't gotten our money back. They aren't doing their job, and I'm getting the feeling that nobody really cares whether we get our money.
I have had my car put on hold for money that I spent out of state. This money was taken with no red flags raised on your end.

Hard to believe how "Best Of" becomes "Worst Experience in Banking," but CapCom and SEFCU have somehow managed the smooth transition to the bottom in less than 2 years! I have been a CapCom member for 40 years and a reluctant SEFCU member for at least two decades. I find the merger highlights all of SEFCU's terrible old customer service habits and technological incompetencies while leaving the best of CapCom in the waste bin. So much for economies of scale and better service—not with this merger!

They have been charging me for an in-house auto pay from a closed in-house account I once had. They tell me it was my fault that they didn't close the auto payment when they closed the account. They are dishonest! I have called multiple times to resolve this. Notes come up missing and then they reappear, depending on who you talk to. Phone calls are not returned. The service is very poor!

Stay away if you can... maybe find a place that actually sees you as a person rather than their bottom line. I was a customer of Capcom for over 17 years... never really a problem. I got scammed for about $1400 and receive social security. Capcom was understanding and allowed me time to pay it back knowing that I did not get any of the money I lost. I was able to pay back over three-quarters of it but ran into financial issues as most do on SSD. A week ago, I received a bad check for over $800. It went through the bank verification system and posted to my account. I learned a week later it was a bad check and my account was deducted, ending up negative that amount. Fine, my bad for trusting people. I called, told them I would cover that amount even though it would be an insane hardship for my daughter and me when my SS was deposited. I was told my SS would not be touched at any point without my permission. But without notice, they took an extra almost $500 out of my account on top of the $800, a day before Thanksgiving and a couple of weeks before Christmas. I could hear the indifference in all of their voices. They could have given me notice. They could have waited until the next month, especially after realizing I had just lost $800 from a bad check. They did not care. I pleaded but they just dismissed me. There were other options. These people will smile to your face while caring nothing for you or your well-being. They are there only for your money, and I get that it's a business. But at some point, you have to see people as human and act accordingly. Seriously, if you expect them to support you when things go wrong... find a different place to bank. If you want a bank that cares about your family's well-being... find a different place. If you need a bank that you can trust with your money... find a different place. If something goes wrong and you expect your bank to do their job and not violate any federal laws... you may want to find a different place to bank.

We were customers of CapCom FCU for more than 35 years and extremely pleased with the services and especially the 5-star customer service. Since the merger, the level of customer service has declined drastically. Hold times are long, service is terrible with numerous issues, and no one is on the same page. Talking with two people yields two completely different answers. We are all about change for the right reasons but have yet to find one positive thing with this merger.

Previously, SEFCU bank, now known as Broadview, has reported that I closed all my accounts to Equifax when in fact nothing was closed. This caused a drop of 39 points in my credit score. Nothing but a runaround from them. Horrible service with little understanding of how to correct their mistake.

Slow service, people aren't friendly, and they act like we're bothering them. This merger was not a good move. Capcom was awesome and so efficient! It is making us think about going to another credit union.

Finally, keep in mind that lenders might use a different score when deciding whether to approve you for a financial product and approval is never guaranteed.
SEFCU doesn't make their home equity loan credit score requirement public. However, ss a general rule, lenders typically want borrowers with a credit score of at least 700 and whose total debt amounts to about 40% or less of their total income.

The starting credit limit for the CAP COM Classic Credit Card is $500 or more. Everyone who gets approved for this card is guaranteed a credit limit of at least $500, and particularly creditworthy applicants could get limits a lot higher than that. Yes, the CAP COM Classic Credit Card does a hard pull on your credit report when you apply for the card. A hard pull usually results in a slight decrease in an applicant's credit score, but only for a short period of time. The hard inquiry allows the issuer to determine your credit risk and ultimately decide whether you'll be approved for an account.
