I signed up with Columbia Credit Union because they offered me a good interest rate on my car loan. I also opened a checking account and a credit card. My experience with their customer service regarding my credit card has been atrocious. It is very obvious that they have outsourced to a call center that serves many different banks. These people do not actually have the power to help you. You will spend an hour proving your identity numerous times as they pass you from one representative to another. Trying to book a vacation in a non-US country was a nightmare. No matter what, every transaction would be declined, and I would have to navigate their customer service obstacle course. Half the time, they would say it should work now, and it still fails when I try again. Many people will tell you that credit unions are great. However, Columbia Credit Union is not that type of credit union. No other bank, credit union or national bank chain, has been more miserable to work with than Columbia Credit Union in my experience.

Love my Bank seems to be the only one who has my back because they want to see me succeed, unlike everyone else, it seems. So I'll forever be loyal to them. I'll retire one day, and I'll still have them—great people. When I got hacked a few months back, they were quick to stop it before it got worse and even sent me to a tech to prevent further issues. I deeply love these guys.

I opened a Columbia Credit Union income checking account, attracted by the 6% interest rate, then found their website and the direct deposit transfer process way over my head. Seeking in-person support, the very young representative seemed bewildered and only asked, "Do you have the phone app?" "No," I said, "I don't use my phone for banking," and then he was even more bewildered. When I went to the branch to deposit a check into my account, the very young teller also seemed bewildered about how to do that. So I closed my account, and all the young teller who issued me the cashier's check had to say was, "Sorry you had that experience," then returned her attention to her computer screen. End of story.

This bank has the worst online/mobile banking I have ever encountered, and I have been on Earth for 48 years! I was enticed into choosing this bank by the dealership when I purchased a truck. They offered an appealing interest rate, but the way the interest accrues is terrible.
I put $30,000 down via debit card. I then made normal monthly payments until I paid $7,500 on their mobile site, which only allows you to pay $2,500 a day. At this point, the truck should have been paid off. Of course not, though; they still stated that I owed $2,026.
This company charges interest by the second! I paid off the $2,026 and then checked online 30 seconds later to find that the new payoff balance was $2,261.13 as the $2,026 hadn't cleared yet, but there was 13 cents in interest in less than a minute.
And this is with my 836 credit score!

I appreciate that every December they send a notice letting you know you can sign up to skip that month. Yes, it means an extra month on your loan, but it's very nice for people who might be a little tight. I personally never used that, so can't speak to the ease of the process. As for my car loan, it's been easy to pay and people I've spoken to at credit union have been nice.

Poor service at the Camas/Washougal branch. I usually do my banking downtown Vancouver and decided to stop out here out of convenience. I won't do that again EVER!

Great experience with Jeff in Mortgage loans. A very smooth process, he provided excellent customer service and was great to work with all the way through the process. We have recommended Jeff to many of our church friends who are looking to refinance!

Columbia credit union is a joke. My dad bought a jeep and used Columbia credit union to finance it. They sold him a warranty for $2600 and fixed his jeep not long after he got it and now the transmission went out and they claim “ cause you have a modified jeep your warranty is void” when they knew from day one that his Jeep was already modified when bought and he even put smaller tires on it to keep his warranty and now they won’t refund him any money when they only did $900 of work 2 years ago. Just want to warn people they are thieves and don’t buy a warranty from them they just steal your money and don’t help you when you need it. Use a different credit union if your looking to buy a vehicle or get a loan. They screw people over it’s ridiculous and fraud for selling him a warranty that is uselesss. Now they’re saying they aren’t gonna refund him any money for it so he’s out $2600 all because they didn’t want to fix his transmission.

This is the worst bank I've ever experienced, in terms of car loans. First, their website interface is not user friendly at all. You can't see your full account information and the only way to know your full account number is by calling and giving 5 pieces of personal information. The reason you need this is because in order to pay over the phone or online, you need to enter your full account number.
You can't see any of your statements from previous months on your auto loan. Again, you have to call in order to receive a statement prior to 30 days.
When you pay by phone, each time is at least 8 - 12 minutes because of the amount of menus you have to listen to in order to submit information.
Their customer service personnel are nice, but they aren't the brightest. I had to send notarized documents 3 different times because they had incorrect information on the forms, not to mention that the 3rd time was 120 day out of the blue phone call after the 2nd time I had sent the documents in. And because I didn't do the 3rd time in a timely manner, they increased my vehicle APR by 15%.
You can't pay over the phone from your bank debit card. You need to enter your checking routing and account number.
I paid off both of my vehicles and closed my account. I will never used this credit union again.
