Connecticut State Employees' Credit Union

Imagine having a credit score of 775, no late payments, a house you owe $208,000 on which is worth $340,000, and getting denied for a home equity loan of $30,000 to consolidate higher interest debt. My payments would have gone from $860 a month to $400 a month. But no, I "couldn't afford it" according to them. These people lack intelligence. I got approved through other companies with no problem. These people do nothing but waste your time. Avoid at all costs.

To start off the staff is rude and will ignore any concerns that you have about your money or their service. When you attempt to get in touch with a manager you will be transferred to voicemail or dead phone lines. The credit union is very difficult to deal with on every level from depositing money electronically, to the many antiquated forms that you have to fill out. They are a pseudo-state agency that is caught in the stone age. If you want problems with missing and rejected deposits, go ahead and use them. if you want your money to be safe use another intuition.

I had been banking through CSE for more than 20 years, never had a problem until this month. In all of my years I've had maybe three times in which I had unauthorized charges to my account and my money was credited immediately. A few weeks ago I had an unauthorized charge of more than $150. The problem was almost a year ago I helped a friend pay a bill and for whatever reason this cable company saved my card number when I called to pay the bill, well there was a mix up recently and somehow my debit card was charged without my consent and I am fighting with CSE's third party card services to credit my money still (several weeks later). I am very upset that CSE has outsourced this service because the company has horrible customer service and truly do no care about CSE's customers. Most people go to credit unions because they do like the way the Bank of Americas do business. I have always raved about how CSE had wonderful service; however, now they have outsourced to these card services people I wonder what else is down the road, I might as well go to a Bank of America at least with them I can deposit money in their ATM which was the only other thing that bothered me about CSE they don't have ATMs for which you can make deposits.

I was a student working in New Haven and eventually started working so I wanted a checking account separate from the one back home that wouldn't freeze my card anytime I went out of the country. Connecticut State Employees' Credit Union gets a lot of students (surprisingly) and they understand that we travel a lot so I never have to worry about my card getting frozen! All I do is give them a ring and that's it! Before them I had TD Bank and it's the worst bank in the country. This is why I went to a union bank.

They're customer service is great, they're really friendly, and they sound like they are having a good day everyday unlike other employees of anything really. I also get direct deposit and I haven't gotten a credit card with them yet but I have friends who do and they say they like it better than highly rated cards. Anyway, if you're thinking about a union bank this is your last stop. They're great with pretty much everything and they won't treat you like crap. Oh almost forgot to mention!

They're online banking is a little ehh so I recommend having another bank on the side if you really need all that stuff, but honestly it's just a distraction you can always call to get your balance!

After finally gaining some job security and accumulating some savings, I decided to buy my first new car! I researched the one I wanted and went to buy it. I was very excited. The car sales man got me the best rate he could and I do believe it was very fair. My car payments are to the Connecticut State Employees' Credit Union, an option not everyone has but I am sure lucky I got. I haven't had a single problem with this credit union. I had one question once and when I called they were able to answer it right away.
