Deseret First Credit Union

I have been with Deseret First Credit Union for about 20 years. They have been mostly good, up until now. I recently moved, and AFCU is a credit union that is much closer to me. So, in order to transfer my account balance from DFCU to AFCU, I made a payment to myself within the DFCU app, that would go to my AFCU account. The first time I tried to put the payment through, I got an error message of some sort. So, I tried to put the payment through again, and it seemed to go through. A few days later, I received a bank fee in the amount of $28 because, apparently, both payments to myself had been processed, even the initial payment that showed an error had occurred. I ended up sending a message via the app to try to get my $28 back and was told that the $28 fee was valid. So, I called and explained the situation to a phone representative, and was told again that they would not reverse the fee. They even checked with the bank manager, and still, they would not budge.

$28 is not a large amount, but the principle of the matter is what bothers me. I am glad to be moving my finances to America First Credit Union. I will not refer anyone to DFCU ever again. They have lost their integrity.

They take an excessive amount of time to post direct deposits to your account. The only reason I think they do this is to earn interest on the money somehow. I would not recommend this bank to anyone. They seem very dishonest and do not follow rules and regulations.

Very Good Credit Union!!! Would do another car or truck loan with them. Also, I have had IRA’S with this credit union. Had a very good rate last year when I financed a car with them

The branch manager of the Deseret First Credit Union located on North Main in Logan, UT is extremely rude. Our daughter had some questions about her auto loan and he was dismissive, curt and sarcastic with her. We are disappointed in his lack of professionalism.

I've had a car loan with Deseret First for two years. I appreciated the quick application and approval process. Everyone was friendly and helpful, from the local branch in South Jordan to the corporate offices (who I had to interact with because of a missing title). I've had car loans with multiple banks and credit unions over the years and I highly recommend Deseret First. Great rates and great people.

I have been loyal to this credit union for multiple years now and out of no where I got charged a $588 fee because my savings account money was in “the wrong savings account”. They are horrible to work with and greedy. They are quick to take your money and don’t give it back! They hang up on you and they don’t call you back when they say they will. Also, it’s always your fault when they mess up... apparently every member has to have a savings account, so my husband that has been a member for two years that shared mine all the sudden has a mysterious savings account we never signed up for plus they transferred all of our savings to it so this mess could happen! But it’s not their fault that they let us have 1 savings account for years, and it’s not their fault they opened up another without permission, not their fault that they switched our funds to it so that we could get charged for having our other account empty!
I am done with them and moving all of my accounts and loans to someone else!!! I’ll never work with them again!!! Nothing Christlike about this group!

Zero stars if I could. Hates the military. We have been hung up on time after time after time trying to get the interest rate dropped (as it legally has to for active duty military) FOR THREE YEARS. Such a joke, nobody knows what they are doing and we are constantly given the run around. Good thing active duty has access to free lawyers to ensure all and any military clauses and laws, because we WILL be contacting one to get this taken care of.

Great checking services, good products associated with the service always there if you need something and willing to help with your needs, with a smile! Moving my business away from banks, I consider to be a smart move.

I purchased a new vehicle through Deseret First Credit Union at the suggestion of my friend who works in the car business. This credit union is so far the best I've done business with on a car loan. The application process was very easy and totally transparent. Quick approval with a very low interest rate. The one time I've had to call into customer service I was met with a very friendly representative who was able to quickly and easily answer my questions. I highly recommend giving these guys a go when your'e in the market for a vehicle.

This credit union is the only thing that I miss about living in Salt Lake City! It was my first ever 'bank' or credit union and it is the credit union by which I compare every other place I've kept my money in since then. They had fairly standard policies regarding the money in my checking account, but the most refreshing thing was the absence of fees. These days there are fees for everything but I don't recall being charged a fee for absolutely anything I did with Deseret. The one time I lost my checks and had an issue with that, it was resolved promptly and with an appropriate amount of concern and empathy. My money didn't grow very fast because I didn't keep a very high balance, but I understand their interest rates are very fair also. I would definitely recommend Deseret Credit Union if you have a chance to do business with them.

Deseret First Credit Union was really helpful and easy to work with when we bought our car and when we sold our car. The credit union offered low interest rates on the car loan, and they did not charge us endless fees just for trying to make payments.

I would definitely recommend this credit union to anyone looking for a car loan. The staff at the credit union are very helpful, and they even provide little activities and suckers for my children when I have to come in.

I feel like I am a part of a family because of the way we are treated.
