They will charge NSF fees for PENDING transactions even though your account is positive and they won't refund those fees. If you send a message in their message center, they never look at them. Don't go to this bank if you live paycheck to paycheck. You'll never get ahead with them
We took our trust documentation in to the branch to have our checking and savings accounts put into our Trust ... but they dropped the ball and apparently didn't complete the process. Tried to make a substantial deposit more than a month later, but couldn't do it because the name wasn't correct. Was told by a "relationship specialist" (ha!) that she would check into it and call me on the next business day. She never called, and never returned my phone calls to her over the next 10 days. Finally reached someone else, who informed me that it was now (finally) in the name of our trust. No acknowledgement or apology for this mishandling and inconvenience. Very disappointed so far, although hoping they'll do additional customer service training for their staff so relationships can become more professional, courteous, and efficient.
I have been a bank member for 6 years and they mistakenly charged 2 NSF fees because their app was not working correctly. They stole $70 and after talking to them on the phone they still wouldnt return the money. They do not honor customer service. I would definitely go to another bank where they value their customers.
It's certainly not a good idea to co-sign for a loan, but it's a horrible idea through Desert Financial. I co-signed for a family member and he got behind on a payment. I reached out to Desert Financial to see if I could have access to notifications. They said I would have to create a log-in to see any activity but "a lot of times it doesn't work". Mine did not. I called back and asked what my alternatives were and they said I needed to call in every month and see if the payment was late. I spoke with the family member who lied and said he was caught up. I called back to Desert Financial and they told me the car might have been repossessed but they will check with the repo dept. and promised they would let me know. I told them I will pay whatever is owed and to please get back to me. They never bothered to call me back or give me a chance to pay. Now my credit is destroyed.
I don't blame them for the guy not making his payment and I don't blame them that I was stupid enough to co-sign, but I do blame them that they offer zero support for the co-signer and no way to check on the loan unless you create a log-in that "a lot of times doesn't work". If you value your credit as I did, please learn from my mistake.
If you are barely making any money and less than a billionaire, STAY WAY FROM THIS BANK!!! It’s better having your money in your pocket than depositing it into this bank. I say this because they will charge you fees and reschedule charges to figure ways to charge you overdraft fees and live you at a negative balance
After 21 years with this credit union, I have left and chosen Copper State CU Desert Financial is not for less than millionaires as they treat you substandard, I applied for a car loan and approved if I wished 14 % interest rate..Copper State approved same vehicle loan for 4 %...what does this tell you as Americans
Recently applied for a desert financial credit card. Was instantly approved for 11,5k. I'll take it! Been with the them for 10 years and the wife double that.
After banking with DFCU for nearly 20 years, i have now been denied both a business loan and a home Mortage loan. When I went to DFCU for a business loan they told me that it was too risky, now that business has a revenue of nearly 1 million per year. When I went to them recently for a home loan, they came back with a purchase price of $125k less than I asked for, essentially taking me out of the market. Their lending team is disrespectful and rude. My credit score is in the 800s, and I have a long-standing relationship with them, yet they treat me like I’m just starting to build up my credit.

I have been a Desert Financial customer for years-credit cards, checking and HELOC. I recently found out via letter that they closed a credit card due to inactivity, which was a pretty significant hit to my FICO due to 18k no longer being weighted as available credit. Calls to customer service made no difference. I understand they are a business and businesses want to make money, but leaving this account active wasn't costing them any money. Desert Financial is only interested in 'helping' their members when they make money from them. A simple heads-up would have been the right thing to do to give the consumer the opportunity to be part of the decision to either let the account close due to inactivity or to use it to keep it active.
Very happy with the customer service at desert financial. Look forward to a establishing a long relationship with them as my experience with big banks in the past has been less that pleasant.
