Empire ONE Federal Credit Union

I have had a savings account in this bank for almost 4 years. The woman who usually takes care of me, I think her name is Tina, is actually extremely friendly and caring. I have never really had a problem with this account, other than when I was trying to transfer funds from one account to another.

What a wonderful experience I have had at Buffalo Community Federal Credit Union. I didn't think it would be possible to replace my old credit union I was using at home on Long Island but these guys did it. The employees are always courteous and help with any type of problem I may have. They have some of the best interest rates around. I walk in frequently and they help me within a second. They are some of the nicest people I know. I feel like my money is always safe with these people. Thanks also BCFCU! If you have any doubts let me tell you these people are top notch, if you are looking for a credit union in the area these are the people to check out!

The ladies at the branch I frequented in Williamsville were always very kind and helpful. I looked forward to seeing them. Unfortunately, the computer system has a significant lag in updating your checking account when you use your debit card to make purchases. I had a really hard time keeping track of how much money was in my account for various reasons (disability being one of them).

At one point I contacted a different branch (William St) because it happened to be open to address a recurring fee issue problem that had resulted from my credit card. I was very upset about the fee (crying upset, not angry upset) because it had been “just one of those days”. The woman was incredibly rude - she hung up on me! I eventually contacted the manager of the branch who addressed my concerns about the fee, answered the questions that her employee didn't give me the opportunity to ask, but offered zero apology for the incident.

I closed my account and no longer recommend the credit union to others. Their online banking is “behind the times” and not easily accessible. Programs like Mint or LearnVest are not supported and they will nickle and dime you in fees. It was such a hassle having an account with them. I switched to USAA and that is the best decision I've made. I had NEVER had issues managing my finances prior to opening an account with this credit union and haven't had any problems since.

The Buffalo Community Federal Credit Union is a great institution for a variety of things. I used them to receive a personal loan in order to buy a new car. The APR on the loan was very low, which is one of the main benefits of using a Credit Union as opposed to a bank in the first place. The atmosphere at the Buffalo Community Federal Credit Union was made to be friendly and welcoming. It didn't seem like they were just out to get my money like some banks do. Another perk of using this Credit Union is that they offer dividends to their account holders. This is rare among banks these days and has inspired me to open an account there myself. Overall, this place is great. I highly recommend using it.

It’s a great institution with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. It has plenty of locations too, though I have not yet needed to use the Southtowns branch. The branches at William St and Williamsville are great though, with plenty of parking and all the services I've needed, the only downside being that the William St branch isn't open Saturdays which seems a little behind the times. I used their loan services in 2010 in order to get a car after my old one died on me and the rates they offered were pretty competitive when compared to the usual banking institutions or loan companies. I never had any problems worth reporting either.

Here is great idea that I used at this credit union. To start building credit for my daughter, I had her take out a personal loan to buy her car. Since I have a savings account at the credit union, they approved 'her' loan based on my savings account! This is her first loan and now she makes her payments monthly. The regular banks wanted to charge her over 9% but she is paying only 5.25% and the best part, I got a $25.00 bonus for having her open a new loan! Being my daughter, I did give the $25.00 as that's what dads do!
