Communication is a mess. Accountability is nonexistent. Every interaction feels like starting from scratch, with no one willing to actually resolve anything—just pass you along or tell you to call someone else. I've spent more time chasing answers than I ever should have with a financial institution.
Mistakes happen. What's unacceptable is how poorly they're handled. No ownership, no urgency, and absolutely no customer care. For a bank, trust is everything—and this place manages to erode it at every turn.
There are plenty of banks out there that don't make you feel stressed, dismissed, or inconvenienced for expecting basic professionalism. I'd strongly recommend choosing literally any of them instead.
The second complaint is that my account, while still using the FCB debit card, has been hacked twice since the merger, resulting in minor charges pending. Both times the attacks happened over the weekend, so I was not able to reach customer service until the following Monday. The first time the charges fell off before I was able to contact them, and they were not able to see them at all so just kind of gave me the brush-off. The second time, the charges stuck around for almost a week. I made sure to take pictures of my screen and print out an online statement. I actually went into the physical bank this time and they were able to pull it up on their end as well. They had me cancel my debit card and order a new one. Since the charges had not actually posted they were not able to back-trace them, but they were much more helpful this time around. I also happen to know at least one more person this happened to, so it may just be something to do with the way the merger happened since nothing's happened after receiving my EB debit card.
All in all, I like Equity Bank and have no intentions of leaving them anytime soon. Just make sure to keep an eye on your accounts and keep on them if anything weird pops up if still using your old FCB card.
