The woman who spoke with me about opening an IRA was VERY condescending. She acted the entire time as if she was just humoring me, the way you do when you are internally rolling your eyes at someone. I think perhaps what I was attempting to do was not possible given this bank's particular policies, but there was a better way to convey this to me than how she chose to. She tried to argue with me about a tax situation I have personally experienced, giving me wrong information, and when I pressed her about it, it turns out that what she was representing as tax law was actually just a First Citizens policy. I believe she had me pegged for younger than I am, since I have a young looking face and get mistaken for a teen when I am almost middle aged. Still, that is no excuse, since every customer's inquiry should be taken seriously. She also had to call another person at another department about my inquiry, and I could tell that the two women were laughing together about my situation. I really should have given her a piece of my mind, but I was so upset in the moment that I was just trying to keep my emotions together. This is not my only complaint about First Citizens, but I had to choose one category for this review. I have banked here for years, but I am looking around at other banks now.

This branch is the absolute PITS. The branch manager and several of the associates are racist and biased. I have been discriminated against, treated unfairly, disrespected and nothing has been done as of yet about it. Since this all begin they have purposely closed two of my accounts just to be spiteful. One a week ago and the other today after I filed yet another report against her for closing the first. I have had a check pending now for almost a week for no reason at all for work I performed at a job site. I have received absolutely no help from them and my accounts were set up wrong for over a year. When they finally got them fixed and realized it was their fault instead of correcting it they begin to close them one by one back to back. I have filed four or five complaints against this branch prior to coming here and leaving a review. Worst banking experience ever and I would not recommend this bank to anyone.

Worst banking experience ever - how are these guys still in business? Simply asked Randolph Road Charlotte branch to sell me a roll of quarters and they said they could not unless I was a customer. Avoid this terrible institution at all costs!!!
If I could give them zero stars, I would. My husband and I are both physicians and are relocating after fellowship. We are in a good financial position where my husband has worked a lot of overtime and saved so that we would be able to afford a down payment on a home in a more expensive area than where we are currently living. We had specific criteria we wanted to meet with a mortgage, so had to leave our current lender, Arvest Bank (they are AMAZING, just didn't have what we were looking for). I did a lot of research and found a handful of banks that offered what we were looking for with physician mortgages. I then filled out contact forms for each of those specific to physician mortgages. I was contacted almost immediately by multiple lenders. After talking to everyone, it seemed that First Citizens had the best terms and best rate. SCORE! Or so I thought. Unfortunately, the person who had contacted me was not trained in, nor did he typically handle, out of state physician mortgages. Everything he told us was a LIE. As we were working to close on our house, it became apparent he was entirely incompetent. Multiple deadlines were promised and missed. Multiple phone calls for myself and my realtor went unanswered. A rate lock was promised in the midst of rising interest rates (which I have in writing) and yet was not put into place. Eventually, the rate that was actually quoted to us was 1.5 points higher than the promised "locked" rate.
In the midst of this, this employee ignored requests for contact information for his superiors. Eventually, I just started calling people. It took a few days, but this agent was removed from our case. His manager was nice and tried her best, but the leadership at the bank would do nothing to help us. They basically said sorry for your luck, despite their entirely incompetent employee who should have never contacted us in the first place. We eventually went on to use Key Bank for our mortgage. The difference was ASTOUNDING. Everything was done incredibly professionally and in 1/3 of the time.
Love this product. Gives you the flexibility to pay only accrued interest if you want. Best HELIC product in the community. Used to have a HELIC with another lender that required principal reduction each month
It wont take you long to figure out you have made a mistake.

First Citizens Bank took HALF of my deposit in fees that were not disclosed to me. Their explanation was that I had closed the account too soon. But this was certainly not explained to me when I closed the account. When I got the check in the mail for the account, this is when I learned that I had be robbed of half of my deposit. I phoned, but got very poor service. The two reps I spoke with had no clue. They refused to re-instate the account or assist me in any satisfactory way. I have excalated my concerns to the Federal Government.
I had to close my account with first citizens bank bc they let hackers take my life savings for almost 6 months straight, over $20,000 gone, they don't care one bit. I was with the Batesburg-Leesville branch and I have been treated like I have leprosy or live under a bridge. I have filed several complaints about this and still No one cares. I was sent a check for $72 from first citizens bank and went into m local l branch yesterday to try and cash it, bank manager Tonya said I couldn't cash it there bc I didn't have an account, I told them that it was written by them and that she was gonna cash it, so she did, and then I had over $80 in change( ALL ROLLLED UP) AND SHE REFUSED TO CASH IT CAUSING MORE HUMILIATION AND INSULT TO ME PERSONALLY. Idk how an institution that is supposed to protect your assets can let all of your money just up and leave without an apology, an offer for loaf of bread to geek my hungry child, but they did this with no alerts or phone calls, they have ruined my life, this is another insult to Injury, another slap in the face, and more salt in my wound. Pathetic excuse for a business and still yet NO ONR CARES....I'm about to slap them back in the face with a law suit, bc as an American citizen, I do have rights and I'm going to use them accordingly. Tonya at Batesburg-Leesville SC branch is an evil human and so is this whole institution!!
The WORST Bank to request a loan at is, First Citizens Freedom Drive Allegany St. We applied well before Christmas 2021. Cleaned my credit up, GREAT SCORE.
Then, got approval approx late Jan 2022 give or rake. After several calls, visits, attempted vm's (always full), no other option but to visit.
We finally get an official document confirming the loan. Only to be told over another month later that they are withdrawing their approval b/c William owes First Citizens money of which, he's NEVER done business with them.
90 days in, I get a frustrated call from Jack, saying that they are withdrawing the offer. He knew this weeks back when I visited him at the bank, but was taking a different approach to see if he could help????
WHAT ABOUT THE INQUIRIES THAT YOU PUT ON MY CREDIT REPORT?????
I WILL not rest until this has been properly addressed. I've been a customer since 2012 or or later. Well over a 700 credit score?
You can get a First Citizens Bank personal credit card credit limit increase from your online account or through the mobile app. You can also give customer service a call at (800) 543-9000. Requesting a credit limit increase for a First Citizens Bank business credit card can only be done by calling customer service.
To raise your chances of being approved for a higher credit limit, pay your bill on time for at least six straight months, reduce your outstanding debt, and update the income that the issuer has on file. You will be more likely to receive a credit limit increase if the revised income clearly shows that you can afford a higher limit.
Impact of a First Citizens Bank Credit Card Credit Limit Increase on Your Credit Score
When you request a First Citizens Bank Credit Card credit limit increase, the issuer will conduct a hard pull of your credit report, which will cause a short-term dip in your credit score. First Citizens Bank cannot do a hard pull without your permission, though.
Alternatively, you could be eligible for a credit limit increase without even requesting one. First Citizens Bank Credit Cards may offer an automatic credit limit increase if the issuer's regular review of your account shows a history of on-time payments and low debt. An automatic credit limit increase involves a soft pull, which does not affect your credit score.
