Worst mortgage refinance experience ever! They even took our escrow money at closing and then neglected to pay our home insurance.
Bank has inactivity fees. Not only that, but having your bank deny overdrafts, (if the purchase is above 2-5$) will charge an overdraft fee of $34, despite having declined the purchase. That's terrible, and has genuinely screwed me over in combination with a mistake on PayPal's end. I've been paying $120+ in overdraft fees and they keep coming. This bank is genuinely not worth it unless you have a good source of income to either never overdraft regardless of any mistakes of yours or a company's. Or your income is good enough to cover the abhorrent fees.
My husband and I recently refinanced and we received a check from an escrow balance, but the new loan still has a large escrow balance, so I called to figure out who was responsible for paying taxes and was told I was not listed on the new loan, so I was logging into the old account to give the loan number and was forwarded to the survey. I tried calling back and after being asked for loan number, phone number to spell my name and the entire address then I was told she could not talk to me. I explained that I knew that regarding the new loan, but all of a sudden she couldn’t hear me and I had to hang up. Called back a third time and was out on hold without even being spoken to. My question pertains to the old loan and I am listed on that loan not sure I’m why I’m be in f treated like I’m a scammer calling in about something that has nothing to do with me and given the run around.
Go somewhere else. Rude and arrogant staff that think they are so high and mighty when their interest is an absolute joke. Go to Ally and make 15x what you would at Firstbank.
Oscar, is Awesome. Excellent customer service skills. If he leaves my wife and I will be leaving as well. We've never had this kind of kindness with a financial institute. If he's not a Branch Manager, he should be trained for it. Keep up the Awesome work Oscar.
Here's a lesson I've recently learned about corporations. When one uses a tagline such as "banking for good," it is a pretty safe bet that tagline is meant to whitewash their less-than-good behavior. Make no mistake, FirstBank is no different than just about any other bank. They make money by screwing their customers.

We liked that we were called within 10 minutes of applying via Costco and their low interest rate. Almost all documents could be uploaded on-line, except at closing. We have excellent credit, and all of our documents were uploaded the first day. Over the next three months, we had to unfreeze our credit 6 times (three agencies, two applicants, twice) in case we " incurred other debt". We had to upload 4 additional documents saying that we had no interest in our previous homes over 20 years ago, and a non-existent address on our street. Their appraiser showed up over an hour late, and gave us the worst appraisal we have had in 20 years, forcing us to pay private mortgage insurance to just pay our current loan off, with no cash out. We had to have a conference call with our mortgage company on a Friday night holiday weekend to get a pay off balance, and they still didn't set a closing date. When they finally set the date, the closing agent and we both wanted to close before rush hour traffic, but they could not get the documents to him. At closing, we were surprised to be informed that we were responsible for our village taxes, which we had requested to be escrowed. We emailed our original agent, who told us they were escrowed. We called our village and township 4 times around the due dates to make sure our taxes were paid. Six months later, we got a letter that our payment was "short", because the village taxes had not been escrowed. We dealt with 4 different people: the intake agent, someone working from home who left unintelligible messages requesting additional documents, someone who set up the closing, and another person who wanted to hear how great the process was. Not.
Best bank I've ever banked at. I've had a US Bank account, PayPal, and some other local bank accounts here in Colorado, and this one amazed me! Amazing customer service, they're always happy to assist you with any problem and it's a simplistic bank that works great. All I can say is that I'm very happy with this bank and I highly recommend it!
Nothing worse than their online banking and BillPay applications. The general online banking pages are cumbersome and some of the functions, if you can find them, do not all work on major browsers. FirstBank subcontracts its online BillPay functions to a third party (not First Bank - this third party group handles many banking institutions besides FB). Compared to other banking institutions I use, their particular application is redundant and poorly implemented. And forget about customer support - aside for terrible wait times, they have difficulty communicating the difference between what they (the third party concern) versus the banking institution do. I pulled 5 accounts from First Bank during its last transition because of their poor performance. I'm getting ready to pull the last of the accounts. Go elsewhere.
