After researching local HELOC providers, I chose Florida Central Credit Union for their 5% teaser rate and no closing costs. I applied online and spoke with Alicia Trottier, who requested standard financial documents. As a retiree with no debt, excellent credit, and substantial marketable assets, I sought the HELOC solely as a tax strategy—to avoid triggering capital gains. My application was passed to underwriter Melissa Villanueva, whose questions made it clear she didn't understand how our finances work. Despite multiple attempts, she refused to speak with me. Alicia eventually confirmed Melissa would not communicate further. FCCU's handling was unprofessional and inefficient. Another lender approved us within days. Save yourself the hassle—avoid FCCU.

This bank is such a disappointment. They charge account fees and paper statement fees, even if paper statements were canceled months ago, whether you have money to cover it in the account or not. We have been with another credit union before, and they would deposit $10 back into our account for using their bank. Florida Central will charge their nonsensical fees when your account is empty, causing overdraft fees. What? That is how they care for their customers.

My wife and I visited Floridacentral credit union on 8202 113th st Seminole FL 33772 we were going thru some financial challenges and at a road block but during our visit we met with the financial agent Laurie DeCresie she was 100% excellent at what she does. very efficient and had an answer or solution for every blockage we came too we left relieved and ? keep up the great work Laurie .

Florida Central really had much better rates for loans and interest on accounts than any commercial bank. When Southtrust got bought by Wachovia, then they got bought by Wells Fargo, I really had enough of ordering new checks each time. I qualified for an account with them and couldn't be happier. One nice bonus is being able to get to know everyone there instead of the banks which are just closing branches and firing people like crazy when they buy someone out. They actually pay interest on accounts so it's a good reason to leave money on deposit compared with the joke interest from the big banks. I think the people are nicer here because they have more job security.

I’ve been searching for a savings account for some time now, and I wasn’t really happy with the interest rates at bigger banks so I decided to check out some online banks (like Ally) and a few credit unions (like Florida Central Credit Union). I was going to go with a bigger online bank like Ally, but when I saw Florida Central’s interest rate (0.15%) I was pretty impressed! I decided to take a chance on the account and I haven’t looked back since!
I can’t say enough great things about the account and the credit union, first I was able to apply for the account online and fund it online, then I found out that I got free online banking, free eStatements, the customer service is great, and there’s only a monthly fee if I don’t have a balance of $500 or more (which is really a small amount). I’m so happy I found this credit union, and I’ll soon be switching all my accounts over from Bank of America to Florida Central!

Florida Central is a great credit union that still pays high interest on your checking account. You can earn up to 3.25% interest on balances up to $10,000, which is a complete rarity in today's economy. However, I was unable to open up my account online due to some discrepancy with the credit database and what I entered. This meant going in to physically open my account. The account opening process was straightforward like with any other bank. However, I was unable to get the advertised rate. Instead I received a 3% rate due to not having any loans or other accounts with the bank. This was a bit frustrating, but did not kill the deal. Since then, I have had no problems with anything and customer service is great. Standard features such as fraud protection and low fees are included with the account. The low fees are great, there is no monthly minimum balance requirement and direct deposit is not required.
