After being denied a HYSA at a local bank (Evergreen Bank Group, 5.25% APY), I wanted to test another bank to see if I would get denied. Just 10 minutes after receiving the denial email from Evergreen Bank Group, I applied and was approved through Forbright Bank, with a 5.30% APY. Both banks had identical questions and the same requirements to meet when completing the application. I have no overdraft, credit scores at the three credit bureaus are over 820, no credit freeze or security freeze, I pay bills on time, and have a $0 balance on two credit cards and an overpayment on one credit card, etc.
I'm loving Forbright Bank. For me, it takes 4 days out of the 5-day window for my money to be transferred between my regular savings account and Forbright Bank's HYSA. Both financial institutions ensure the security of the money being transferred; it is from a real person, from a real account, and is not fraudulent, which is why it can take up to 5 days for an ACH transfer.
Calling Customer Service and speaking to Suki, Cat, and Rhea has been awesome. These ladies provided answers to my questions and more. They have provided me with an update, including the date when the money will be available in my Forbright Bank account. The mobile app is easy to use and navigate.
Forbright Bank is a win. I am very happy with my Growth Savings Account. Since I applied and have been approved, Forbright Bank does not have buckets yet, but after calling customer service and speaking to Rhea, I was informed that Forbright Bank will be looking into having buckets within the Growth Savings Accounts in the future.
Other features that I love with Forbright's HYSA Growth Savings account include the ability to add more than one external account. You can have up to 5 Growth Savings accounts. Since I now have two Growth Savings Accounts, I have linked three external accounts from two different banks for transferring money in and out. There are no fees, no minimum amount to open the account, but an amount must be transferred within 21 days after opening the account to avoid closure due to no deposit. Forbright Bank has an automatic deposit feature. The website is easy to navigate, and you can see all approved Growth Savings accounts on one page. You can edit the Growth Savings names; for example, one account is "Growth Savings - Bills," another is "Growth Savings - Emergency Funds."
In the end, everything happens for a reason. I am a happy customer of Forbright Bank, a bank that focuses on sustainability, coming from a licensed architect, LEED BD+C.
