I have been a member for over 5 years. I had two personal loans, paid off one completely, and always paid more, never being late with any payment. They don't return calls if you opt for that—I was 120th in queue!—and no one would talk to me about an IRA. I applied for a personal loan to lower one with a higher interest rate, but I was denied. They say my DTI is too high, but they are incorrect. I am applying for mortgages at other companies, so I know exactly what my DTI is. It's fine. I belong to a bigger, better credit union, and I will watch this one fade away.

Freedom credit union is HORRIBLE as a checking account. When travelling out of state for the weekend, not only did i have to dosclose i was in another state for my card to WORK, but when i deposited money - the branch stated it wont be available until I leave on MONDAY. How can you advertise "24/7 Banking" when simple thongs as depositd aren't instantly available to use? After this instance I am cancelling my account.

I have banked with freedom credit union for over 20 years and have been very satisfied. My local branch knows me and treat me with the personal touch lost ages ago by big banks. I like that my money helps working class people like myself. But with the recent move to Jack Henry and Associates, the personal touch seems to be suffering. Wait times have increased and telephone help seems more stressed and less personal. My daughter used them for years making transfers easy when I needed to help her. In the end though, she will put her money else where because of fees she incurs because of living on a shoe string budget while in school. I dont expect things to change for the better but hope that this is just a transitional period and that i can happily give them the 4 to 5 stars they once deserved.

I opened a savings and checking account with Freedom Credit Union during college because I originally had an account with a credit union back home that was not in the area. The set up was fairly simple and hassle free, but my complaint would be with customer service. The tellers at the credit union aren't friendly and are very annoyed when you have more than one transaction. I overdrafted my checking account and the woman was extremely rude when I asked to have the fee removed since it was my first time. I also had an incident where I cashed a check and the money never showed up in my account. Thankfully I saved my slip so I had proof of the check and could have the issue fixed. After I graduated from college I closed the accounts because I really was not a fan of the credit union. I would much rather do business with a place that is more responsible and has friendly workers.

I have been a customer of Freedom Credit Union for 11 years now, and I have always been happy my savings accounts. They require a very low minimum balance, and there are no extra fees. A lot of banks tack on extra fees for different services, but Freedom Credit Union does not. They made it easy for us to have multiple savings accounts for different purposes. The on-line banking services associated with the account are great. The site is very easy to use compared to that of other banks. It is easy to monitor you savings account and to transfer money between accounts, reducing the need to go into the branch in person.

I am a longtime customer of Freedom Credit Union. They offer an interest bearing checking account with no monthly fees and a low balance minimum ($20). They are very helpful and have excellent customer service. I have never had any problems with them or with this account, and they go out of their way to help. They have several branches in convenient locations, and the wait is never long. The tellers are lovely, friendly and helpful. The on-line banking site is very user friendly, and most banking is easily done from home. The on-line bill pay service is great and is a huge time saver. I would not consider having my checking account with another bank.

I tried Freedom Credit Union for investment advice on a whim to try something new from my normal relationship with Franklin First Federal Credit Union. The experience was normal, but I did not feel as welcome there as I did at Franklin First. The man who helped me was very competent and nice. He gave me some great advice that I feel will help me make some money and be safe for retirement. However, if I had to choose one of the credit unions in the Greenfield, Massachusetts area, it would be Franklin First. Freedom Credit Union is good as well and definitely to be preferred over the Bank of America or Peoples United Banks in town. I think that you can't go wrong with Freedom in terms of customer service and the application easiness. Its a good institution.

When I moved to Western Massachusetts from New York City, I needed a local bank, but due to an outstanding dispute with Bank of America, I wasn't able to get an account at a traditional commercial bank. I was, however, able to get an account with Freedom, which was the nearest credit union I could find. My relationship with this bank has been completely different from what I experienced with my previous bank. I have never felt like I was being sold anything, or marketed to, or anything other than a customer they care a lot about. Maybe it's due to the company's small size and local base, but it seems much friendlier than larger banks, especially to a customer who probably doesn't bring all that much to the table. It was simple to apply and get approved, and their tellers have done a great job every time I've had a question, which has been rare. Everything is explained really well in the company's literature, and it's hard to misinterpret what they're telling you. I'm putting together a business proposal for an online product I'm developing, and I'm going to apply for a business loan with Freedom. I've already spoken with an advisor there, and I feel like I may actually qualify, despite a spotty financial and credit history, which wouldn't get me a five minute sit-down at another bank. I love this bank, and even if I am turned down for my loan, I have no intention of changing back to a regular commercial bank.
