She was also appointed by Mayor Barry to serve on a metro board.
Gabriela learned the value of hard work and tenacity at an early age. Her single mother’s example inspired her. In order to help lighten the load at home, Gabriela obtained a job at the age of 14. She was the first in her family to attend college and paid her own way through one of the best schools in the world.
