I was helped by a nice lady named Jasmine. Professional and kind. Jasmine handled my checking business quickly and with a smile. I always enjoy coming to this branch.

Avoid these individuals like the plague! They will take your money but will find every way to avoid returning it to you. When they do, you have to raise almighty he!! to get anything done. Very easy to put money in, darn near impossible to get it out. They get 1 star because there is not a zero.

I have banked with GUCU for over 30 years. I have always enjoyed dealing with this branch in Dalton, GA. Especially recently, Elizabeth Winfrey helped us understand what was best for our family as far as a home equity line of credit goes. I always suggest to anyone looking for a local bank to consider GUCU for all their financial needs.

Longest transfer times of any bank I've used. They're so long that even though my current balance can cover all of my expenses, my available balance drops to negative, and then they charge me for overdraft. How are my funds stuck in limbo for over a week?

PSA: Please do not support Georgia United Credit Union. What they did to me is wrong on every level. So, this tenant of mine moved out, owing me money as she only paid partial rent when she moved. She also left the room a mess. It cost me over $1000 to restore the room and eliminate the roach infestation she caused. It took forever to get rid of the horrible smell as well. She destroyed my new flooring. On September 1st, she sent a member-to-member payment of $994.38. I thought she was settling her debt because she owed me for past rent and other debts. I immediately used the unexpected money to pay bills. On Tuesday, the ex-tenant calls me and says she sent me the $994.38 by mistake and asked if I could send it back. I told her I thought she was paying her past debt and I had spent some of it already. She evidently called the bank to request the funds be returned on the grounds that it was not authorized, which is a lie, and they actually gave her funds back without even calling me to investigate.
The branch manager, Mr. Wayne Zimmerman, outright lied to me today, claiming she came into the branch a while ago asking to do a stop payment, and the bank erred and let it go through. That is a complete lie. A member-to-member transfer is immediate, like Zelle and Cash App. There is no way she went into the branch to request a stop payment when she sent it on a Sunday. Monday was a holiday, so the bank was closed that day as well. I am fighting this with top management, and as for McNasty, I am taking her to small claims court as soon as possible.

Closed my account for inactivity and kept my money claiming it was applied toward fees for account inactivity .hmmm very interesting. They claim they sent out letters, yet never sent any emails informing me if the matter. They do however send way too much spam mail in the mail in the form of various insurance offers that get tossed in the trash,so much so that it becomes a habit to toss any mail with Georgia United credit union on the trash, therefore I wouldn't know I supposedly received a letter about my account being closed for inactivity.
After doing some research ,it was very interesting to discover credit unions can close an account for any reason whatsoever and are protected by law because they're not a bank. I was told by Teresa a Georgia united credit union employee in Dalton Georgia that my account was closed due to inactivity and told me that my money in my account was used to pay inactivity fees. Very I discovered all of this when I tried to activate the new debit card I received in the mail.Guess they couldn't bother to mention account inactivity then
Yet I also still receive tons of garbage mail through Georgia United credit union for exclusive offers for Georgia United credit union members, even though I'm apparently no longer and a member and haven't been for several months due my account mysteriously being closed and my money stolen by then for inactivity .Sounds like a scam to me. If my bank tried that bs I'd file a lawsuit.
Lesson learned NEVER EVER open a credit union account and deposit money, but never spend any of it and stop depositing money for awhile then watch your account get closed and all your money taken for inactivity fees.Sounds like theft to me.
I wouldn't suggest never opening an account at Georgia United credit union and deposit money into your account to just leave there for safe keeping, cause your money isn't safe there and it will disappear if you don't continue depositing more money or empty your account before the credit union does.

These are some of the rudest people I have ever dealt with in banking. I chose to take a second mortgage out with a local credit union thinking that I would have a local contact for my needs, and they might actually get to know my needs and my businesses. That is the furthest thing from the truth. I have spoken with them at least 3 times not on information I needed (they never sent me a 1098 for my loan interest for my taxes which is I think illegal) and every single time I have politely called to ask for help, they make excuses for why they can't help me, they correct me on things they are not understanding and if they would just stop and listen to what I was saying they would actually understand, they cut me off mid-sentence to state their excuse again, and are dismissive and outright arrogant and rude. I thought the first employee I had treat me that way was a possible fluke, so I let it go. The second one happened, and I wanted to leave a review or call a manager, but I was way too busy. Now this last time (while trying to do my taxes and they never sent my 1098 for the 2nd year in a row) I can't be silent anymore. It is pervasive in the organization, and I would never recommend this bank to a soul. If you want to be treated like you are an interruption and a huge inconvenience to their day, then by all means, bank with Georgia United Credit Union.

I would never recommend this bank service to nobody, I filled out the online application never received a phone call. I had to call up to follow up with my application to have them redo my application over the phone for them to give me a preapproval letter and then drag their feet on process in my loan. Once I went to go select my vehicle and called the loan officer multiple times and never return my phone calls making me jump through circles with a credit score that’s above 750. A poor financial decision to do business with banks that do not know how to take care of business. Not all banks know what they’re doing this is one of them. And for food for thought on numerous occasions I have shown up to local branches and they were closed without notification that just like your local doctors office or hospital taking the day off without communications to it's community.

I have been with them for over 30 years. Unfortunately, they have decided to do business like a common bank. The only way any of us can get a loan is a secure loan. Our credit ratings are all well into the 730's -800's. My son tried to do a small 3k loan for furniture. He has a steady full time job for 3years and little to no expenses. They told him he didn't have enough credit record and that only a secure loan could be approved. He has already taken 3 secure loans with them which now they say this don't count. They won't approve him for a credit card either his credit score is 750-780. My mother has always relied on them for small quick personal loans she made one for $500.00 since about 7 months ago;she now only owes 180.00. She chose to pay on monthly instead so that she could re-establish her credit. She has a 750 credit score with some issues. Still, they gave her the loan. She was very happy to have an opportunity to increase her credit rating. Yesterday, she went with the intention to payoff the loan and take out another personal loan for 1k (500 more than the last loan with the payments only goings up a few dollars 43to46. She said the staff at Sugarloaf branch was mostly new and that they did not approve it. Again, only a secure loan. She said she felt insulted since they were aware of the negative items on her credit history. The representative went further and questioned her why she had such a good credit score; she said he was using a tone that made her feel belittled and stupid.Like since is it a bad thing to have a good credit score. If we can't do any business with a bank that is willing to work with us whom are part of the community than we will all be closing our accounts that is. 5 accounts closed because we have nothing productive to look forward when we are doing business with this company. Shame on you Likey mother says they used us giving us loans during needed times and now that they have become more popular they betray those members that have been with them since before they were known as GA United Credit Union. Shame, shame, on you!!!

The worst company ever to deal with pertaining to a car loan. This company refused to make concessions of physical drivers licenses due to DDS COVID issues. Yet once the loan period they set expired, you were required to start the process over yet again. While the only changes from the 1st application to the 2nd application was the fact that Georgia United Credit Union pulled our credit multiple times, that is now used against us too many credit inquiries, when they were the only ones that pulled the inquiries since the loan process started. They lead you on coming up with every excuse, well they have sent everything to the underwriters, the underwriters are reviewing the validity of the paystubs, their representatives didn't have the guts to simply say, you are not approved (when we were the 1st time) nothing financially had changed since the 1st application to the 2nd one. Sad for the dealership because they had used this bank referring many customers to and to have this happen to 5 of their existing pending purchases - The dealership will no longer refer their business to this bank.

Imagine your debit card being declined for a $329 purchase when you have $22,000 in the account...that’s banking at Georgia United Credit Union. It wasn’t a fraud thing, they just told me I had a $310 daily max on my debit card. Bonus, since it was after 5 I couldn’t call and get it taken care of.

You can have up to two Georgia United Credit Union credit cards. That's because the credit union currently offers only two cards, and you can get approved for both of them as long as you meet the eligibility requirements.
If you plan on getting both Georgia United Credit Union credit cards, it's important to wait at least six months before submitting your second application. This way, you allow more time for your credit score to rebound after the first hard inquiry, and it will...
