Last year, I asked the manager, Jane, to roll over two CDs with a low interest rate into two new CDs with the current higher rate, keeping the funds with Grow and not withdrawing the money. I implored Jane to waive the penalty of $872.15, which she refused to do. On April 10, 2025, I had the same request for a CD with Suncoast Schools Credit Union—to obtain a higher rate while keeping the funds with them and without any penalty. After checking with her manager, I was charged no penalty. No fuss, no excuses, no penalty. According to the literature about the penalty, it says you may be charged, indicating that a credit union has a choice—but apparently not Grow.

This so-called Credit Union has to be the biggest joke. Save yourself the headache of dealing with staff so incompetent that it makes newborn babies seem more intelligent. It absolutely frustrates me the way they treat their members, with the slowest possible service. It's like they have no idea what they're doing, so they wing it daily. When you talk to them, it's only to hear, "Here is your deposit," four days later, and they never improve. They're always handling my paycheck as if it's a minor matter. They say one thing and do another. Once my funds clear, I'm going to another credit union or bank that takes their members seriously.

I have to say, please stay far away from this credit union. They make promises they cannot keep, hold your deposits for days, and cannot keep their stories straight about why your paychecks are not there days after deposit. They really put your life on hold. God forbid you are allowed to have your paycheck to pay bills. It's like asking, "Mommy, may I please have my allowance?" Run, run far away from Grow Financial!

Today is 01/04/25. My car loan from Grow Financial was paid off on 07/09/24. I just received a notice that they are going to charge me a "dormant account fee." I immediately contacted them and after being on hold for close to 27 minutes, I was required to take a photo of a handwritten letter requesting to close my account, to include an address, my signature, and a copy of my driver's license. After all of this, the agent wanted to send me a text to validate my identity. Was my driver's license not enough? Be cautious if you do business with this lender. I later found out that none of this is required by any Federal Credit Union. The agent's name was Stephanie. It was a terrible experience.

I had the very distinct pleasure of working with Cornelius Mathis refinancing two auto loans. Cornelius made the process very easy and transparent. His response times were quick, and he always answered any questions I had. If you are looking for super low rates and a seamless experience, ask for Cornelius!

I am 77 years old and have been with Grow Financial for around 10 years. A man I thought of as a friend, but who may have been a scammer, claimed he had sent $9,800 to my account. According to Grow's security team, the money was never deposited into my account but was returned to the originating bank. My 'friend' insists his bank never received the money back. He sent me a receipt showing the money was supposedly deposited into my account, but my account has been put on permanent lockdown, preventing me from checking it. I don't have a credit card, only a debit card, which 'fraud' has now deactivated. I have ample funds to pay my bills, and now I am cut off from my money to buy food and pay expenses. With $9,800 missing, I've been essentially blacklisted and am unable to function. This situation seems like a scam to me, and I suspect it might be from within the bank itself. Be very careful when dealing with Grow.

Tried multiple times to open a 5-year CD. Got the runaround over and over by people who had little knowledge. CD staff aren't allowed to talk to customers. Escalation to management wasn't allowed. I was told to submit a form to complain instead. Great rates, but it was impossible for me to open.

My family has banked at GF Federal Credit Union since the early '70s, when it was known as "MacDill Federal Credit Union," and even after the name change. Both my parents are gone, and I still continue to bank there. I feel very trusting and assured after all these years and am always treated kindly and respectfully. Thank you, GF! I have a grandson I will be initiating with an account there and three others also when they come of age.

After going in today to deposit a check today on Friday December 23rd 2022, I intended to deposit a check I had been given for $4,000. It was given to me as a gift from a customer of mine who travels to Florida to get away from the snow in his home of Ohio. He travels here with his wife, and recently discovered I had been kicked out from my home, totaled my car, and lost my job opportunity within a span of 3 weeks. Out of the kindness of his heart, he has given me 3 separate checks. The first two checks were a total of $500. This last check being $4,000. I would finally be able to get a place to stay, and possibly a car. That is, until, I went in today. I understand the worry of fraudulent activity, or illegal activity. But I answered the questions I was asked about the check, which were where did I meet this man whom gave me the check, what was it for, and has he asked for me to move it around for him. I answered no, and that it was a gift. I was met with snide remarks. I was treated like I was a criminal. Prior to being spoke to about the check, I was waiting with no information, completely confused for over 10 minutes. Then met with cold attitudes and still, no information. Asset protection was contacted, which were the ones to also ask a few questions. I was met with statements such as “you say that the sender of this check is a regular at your restaurant, yet he lives all the way in Ohio.” I stated that I knew he lives in Ohio…. Him and his wife are snowbirds. I got no response to my answer. I was being questioned about how I said the check was mailed to me, if the date said the 23rd of December on it. I didn’t know how to respond to this question. It didn’t make any sense. I sat there, being interrogated, only for it to end in them telling me they were holding the $500 from my account I had deposited previously, as well as not letting me deposit the $4,000 Check until a 7 day investigation took place. Although 7 days may not seem very long, that seven days surpasses the date I needed to pay my $850 rent at my new place after being kicked out of my other home. So now my security is threatened once again. The validity of the check was never questioned, only my intentions with the check. I asked many questions that I got no answer to. I am lost and confused, and scared. I honestly do not know what to do, but I do know I no longer want to bank with Grow Financial. They have now increased the hardships on my life just for someone trying to help me through those hardships with a large sum of money. My answers and explanations were not good enough for them. I am disappointed, outraged, and ashamed at what has happened. Me and my cat are now at jeopardy. I would not ever want to recommend Grow Financial to anyone, especially if they are going through rough times. I tried to call customer service and could not get a single live human on the phone. I have no vehicle to be able to take myself to the bank to speak to anyone. What a way to ruin an already sad Christmas for me…

I use GFFCU for all my business banking and have for a over five years. My experience with them has been really positive overall. The only reason I deducted a star is because their loan rates aren't as low as I'd expect from a FCU. One of the biggest benefits of being in a FCU/CU is supposed to be competitive, lower rates... Grow's rates aren't horrible, they just aren't nearly as competitive. I previously had 5/3 and I can say without a doubt: I'm much happier with Grow and I feel much more like a "member", versus an "account holder."
