What's Your Rating?
Aetna shows zero concern for its members' time, health, or well-being—only its bottom line. The executive leadership, including CVS Health's new CEO, J. David Joyner, pulled in $17.8 million in total compensation in 2024, despite CVS consistently prioritizing profit over patient care.
When billions are at stake—and top executives are earning lavish compensation—it's clear who really holds the power in this company.
Here's what happened to me: Aetna denied my necessary prescription, not for medical reasons, but because they wanted me to switch to a 90-day supply. Rather than processing the prescription, I had to make multiple calls while working, wasting time and causing stress. This wasn't a medical decision—it was an administrative power play to save the company money while costing members hours.
Then, they refused to cover my $400 brand-name medication. Instead, they're forcing me onto a generic that makes me ill. This isn't policy; it's playing doctor without a license—and without a conscience.
This isn't just poor customer service. It's a calculated system of denial and delay—and it's harming real people like me.
But here's the part they don't want: when you treat people like this, they learn how to fight back—and fight smart. There are completely legal, legitimate ways to cost a profit-driven insurer real money, and I'm on a mission to help more people use them.
I'm not organizing anything illicit—I'm encouraging others to be informed, proactive members of their own health care.
I've started using every covered, no-cost benefit provided by POS II, such as:
• Preventive screenings and immunizations
• Diagnostic imaging and lab tests billed as preventive
• Speech, occupational, or physical therapy (habilitative services)
• Medically necessary home health visits
• Initial skilled nursing facility stays
• Durable medical equipment and hospice care when covered by the plan
These are all zero out-of-pocket services for members—yet they cost Aetna substantially in provider fees, facility costs, therapy sessions, and staffing.
I'm also appealing every denial, filing official complaints with state insurance commissioners, the Department of Labor, and federal regulators, which triggers costly internal investigations and oversight. I'm demanding manual medical reviews, not automated denials. I'm scrutinizing billing line by line, exposing mistakes, forcing corrections, and costing your administrative resources with the same delays and red tape you've inflicted on others.
I'm sharing my story publicly—on the Better Business Bureau, Google, Trustpilot, and social media. I'm raising awareness, advocating for others, and building pressure so that when employers hear from enough dissatisfied employees, they may drop Aetna altogether.
If needed, I'll pursue legal action or join class-action litigation. We're done being manipulated and ignored. Aetna doesn't manage care—you manage shareholder profits at the expense of human lives.
But we've had enough. The days of quietly accepting this abuse are over.
Sincerely,
All of your customers
Consider acquiring insurance from a different provider. The service we experienced was disappointing. DO NOT USE AETNA – GO GET INSURANCE ELSEWHERE. They are horrible
I called Aetna to see if I would be approved for what my doctor wanted to do, and they said I was covered. They walked me through what needed to be done. Now they are saying I am not covered after I did everything.
I called to get the transcripts of the conversation, and they said that I cannot have it without a lawyer contacting their legal team.
Aetna does not want to help their clients; they just want our money. I'm going to write and contact every department, the news outlets, and local government officials, including the Attorney General, because I am tired of paying exorbitant monthly costs, never using insurance, and then getting told I cannot use it.
I suggest everyone write to the Attorney General at the very least so they can look into their practices.

What plan pays for laundry detergent, toilet paper, shampoo& conditioner, body wash, bar soaps?
It's a Medicare Supplement benefit identified as “Over the Counter (OTC) benefits”. Aetna's benefit is called OTC Health Solutions BUT I wouldn't recommend Aetna. If you need to order online Aetna only allows you to shop at their over priced CVS stores & delivery can take up to 14 days! You'll want to be sure & understand how each company handles their OTC benefits & what restriction apply to each plan. Good luck

You'll need to visit their website & select their Find A Doctor option then fill in the blank spaces to help it identify what you are looking for. For Aetna their website is
https://www.aetna.com/individuals-families.html then click Guests (unless you have a plan already) then select the applicable option. I don't like Aetna's Medicare website, I don't find it to be user friendly for the elderly, at all. Hope this helps
IS aetnas plan g medicare insurance any good
I've had experience with both Aetna and United Healthcare (UHC) and liked UHC better. After CVS bought Aetna we've noticed more problems with them. I hear good things about BCBS too but have not had any experience with their Medicare plans. Call an insurance agent and request a quote be mailed or e-mailed to you with a plan outlines for each insurance company then compare them. It doesn't cost you any more money to have...
I have health insurance with Aetna and I live in Maine. Can they make me do blood work? If I don’t do it, can they drop me?
