Service almost impossible to obtain. Why use HVCU, anyway? If you open a checking account at a brokerage firm like Fidelity, you get (now 3.77%) interest on your balance. You lose almost $400 a year if you keep a ten-thousand-dollar balance, four thousand if your funds in savings are one hundred thousand.

Long story. I applied for a credit card so I could initiate a balance transfer. I applied over the phone and the representative assured me that all was good and I was approved for $25,000. "When you receive your card in the mail, you can then initiate a balance transfer," they said. So, a week later, I received a card, but it was a debit card for the bank account you set up when joining. I called up and asked, "Where's my credit card? This is a debit card." They informed me that my application was incomplete and they needed more paperwork and documentation to approve the credit card. I explained that I had completed the process over the phone. However, the underwriting team required tax forms and bank statements. I noted that no one had informed me of these requirements during my application. I have an 810 credit score and own a strictly cash business. I was told that they would call me back in two days, which never happened. The bottom line was they never disclosed what was required, they never completed the application, and I would have never known unless they had sent me that debit card by mistake. I eventually received a call back from a supervisor who apologized and offered to expedite the card through underwriting without the additional documents, based solely on my credit report and score, which is perfect, by the way. I told them not to bother, as this is not the kind of financial institution I want to deal with. They are very unorganized and deceptive. I requested that they not call me anymore.

Do not use this credit union. They said they would work with me, then never called or followed up. I have two accounts on my credit that are being removed as they are not mine. They said they would take that into consideration. Two days later, I received a letter stating denial due to too much debt. They do not work with people. So, I went to another credit union, and they listened and helped me get a loan approval. Very dissatisfied with HVCU.

I have a car lease on autopay with Hudson Valley. I pay every month, as you would expect. Then I get this call saying I'm in default and my vehicle is about to be repossessed. It turns out it's because I did not log into my online account. Really? The customer service agent said I should have seen it in the terms and conditions when I first took the lease. First, who can read them with their legal jargon? Second, who would spot that note and put it on a calendar? "Must log in or car will be repossessed." The only reason is they get their fees. Let's be honest, it's about fees.

I have a car lease with HVCU and I have been paying monthly bills through automatic bill pay without missing a single payment for 24 straight months. It was difficult to set up the monthly bill pay to begin with, but once it was finally set up, they were taking their money as expected. Exactly 2 years after I set this up, they stopped taking my money. I called to see what the problem was, and they told me that I needed to frequently look at my account or the bill pay would be terminated and that I would have to set it up again. Why? Why do I need to log in and look at my lease account to prevent you from deleting my autopay setup? The woman on the phone couldn't provide a good reason. I then tried to set it up again, and the system could not find me using my social security number or my account number. I gave up and set up bill pay through my personal bank. In 30 years of leasing cars, I have never had to do this. From the other reviews that I am reading, it sounds like HVCU is not a serious lender and they have inadequate technology. This will be the last time I do business with them.

We apologize that your automatic bill payment for your lease was stopped as a result of this action. We understand this is a frustrating situation, but do want to note that any late fees you were assessed have been returned. There is also no impact to your credit report. It's our understanding that in speaking with our team, they offered automatic ACH payments as an alternative to bill payments through online banking. @HudValleyCU, the fraud story makes no sense. What is the concern if the account is clicking away on auto-pay, the same amount, same everything? If it jumped in the amount or if the account numbers changed then maybe but not for what you stated above.

We entered into a mortgage with Hudson Valley Credit Union on May 6th, 2023. We opted for Hudson Valley to open an escrow account and for them to pay the property, school, and other taxes on the property. We had to pay the first year's taxes upfront at closing. We began receiving tax bills for our property and ignored them, thinking Hudson Valley was paying them as they had agreed, using our escrow account. After receiving a tax bill with late penalties of over $700 for the school tax, $185 for the township tax, and $70 for the school real estate tax, I called Hudson Valley. They informed me that they wouldn't pay the first tax bill; that was my responsibility even though they were holding the first year's taxes I had paid upfront at closing. They had never informed me of this at any time before, during, or after closing. Where did my first year's tax escrow money that I paid upfront go? I reached out to a lawyer and was informed that the legal fees would cost more than what I could potentially recover from Hudson Valley. Consider taking your business elsewhere.

Some of the reps are helpful for simple things, but for other tasks, like applying extra payments I made on a car loan towards future months is like pulling teeth. Wouldn’t recommend for anything other than the most basic tasks.

They're fantastic if you have the simplest of transactions to accomplish such as direct deposit and bill pay. Anything more intricate than that and you run into issues due to their small size, and lower level employees being clueless. Any interaction requires a member of management which always requires a wait up to days or a call back on a different day that often never comes.
I have had multiple brokerage accounts affected by this and all I've ever received are Bank letterhead and fees returned that shouldn't have been issued in the first place.
Choose wisely often the first bank we use we stay with for more than 10 years and many their entire lives.

I had an IRA cd come due on 04/05/2021, I decided to move it to another financial institution, I started the process on the 5th of April. Today is the 4th of May, the other financial institution has sent 2 requests to move the money from hvcu, yet they tell me that they have not received the request. I understand the request went snail mail, I find it difficult to believe that hvcu has not received the request. How desperate is hvcu that needs to hold onto $7400 for over a month, we all need to think about this, is hvcu financially secure if they need to postpone a transfer of such a small amount.
