Isabella Bank

Good rate for the times, easy to deal with. Have had several loans through Isabella Bank and were very helpful throughout the entire process.

the last straw today when i stood in line for 10 minutes with only 2 tellers open 20 minutes before closing. i had somewhere i needed to be with a cash withdrawl , meanwhile they had 1-2 people counting and binding bills shows their customers are not important. this is the fourth issue with them rheir customers are last

I have been a customer for over a decade at Isabella but no longer. I have had small issues in the past such as asking for a voided check for direct deposit and tellers looking at me like I'm speaking a different language, moving and changing my address with the bank but then them issuing my rent check using my old address. The real issue that broke the camel's back happened just recently regarding their Bill Pay system. I have been using that since 2019 to issue my rent check to pay my landlord. Not once have I ever been charged a Bill Pay fee. I just happened to log in to my account and noticed it was $0.50 short with a bill pay fee listed in my transactions. I only use this account to pay my rent so I put just enough money to pay my rent and then the check is issued and mailed directly to my landlord. Had I not logged in to my account I could have had an NSF fee and my landlord would not have received the money on time plus would have been charged a fee also. I called Isabella to ask why all of a sudden I am being charged a fee and they tried to claim that they suspended fees due to the COVID pandemic but had started charging fees again. I asked why then did I not have a fee going all the way back to 2019 well before the pandemic started. They did not have an answer. I tried calling twice to see if I could get a better answer but to no avail. I then also asked why no notice was given that they would start charging a fee for Bill Pay. The lady told me that they did send notice but I received no letter or email. I receive plenty of mail regarding their upgraded checking account and wanting me to upgrade. One of the ladies I talked to also tried to sell me the upgraded checking account but I told her I don't want to pay a fee. She said there isn't any fee and I said yes if you have direct deposit then there is no fee. Then she said oh yeah I guess I have direct deposit in mine. Honestly it seems like they did not want to notify people so that some would get NSF fees or overdraft fees so that they would make more money. Isabella is a greedy bank that will just screw you over even if you have been a customer for years. I recommend going somewhere else for your banking needs.

Isabella bank has approved 2 loans one unsecured the other unsecured. The secured loan is paid for as of November 2019!
The unsecured loan will be paid in full February 3, 2020

They are awesome. They will help you even with bad credit. The staff is very friendly. The hours are okay. Multiple locations. Every branch I've been to has been awesome.

Extremely poor customer service. Inability to solve basic account problems. The entire debit network has gone down in the past. Continue to send junk mail amd paper statements after multiple opt outs and continue to charge me monthly for a 'paper statement' fee. Have had numerous missed payments to bills due to the failure of their autodraft system. Hidden fees and charges that they will not waive and cannot be opted out of.
After numerous attempts to correct problems I threatened to take my business elsewhere. The response from the teller, " yeah its probably time for you to go." So that's how you treat customers?
Do not use this chain of banks EVER! I have this bank in my home town, they are as crooked as a bank can get.

This is honestly the worst bank I've ever used. I signed up for overdraft protection, and ran a couple of charges over the actual amount I had in my bank, believing that I was protected from overdraft. The next day I found that not only did they not activate my overdraft protection but also gave me no time to put the 8 dollars I owed them back in before giving me a massive $185 overdraft charge. When I went to get the problem resolved at the bank I was informed that even though I had signed up for overdraft protection, they wouldn't take off the charges. Avoid this bank like the plague, they are criminals.
