Kitsap Credit Union

Their ATM ate my check. I was attempting to make a deposit at the ATM after business hours, it took my check then had an error and spat my card back out with a receipt saying the transaction could not be processed. It wouldn't return my check. I panicked and went home and called Kitsap Credit Union's 1-800 number and I was assured that I'd be able to go into the branch during business hours and they'd retrieve my check for me. I did just that, but as soon as they found out I wasn't a member (I use BECU and they just partner together to allow us to use networked ATMs) they refused to help me. They told me I'd have to call BECU. I was so upset, I considered calling the police and demanding my check back (after all, it's sitting not 15 feet away in that ATM!). It feels unfair to be willing to help but only if it's one of your own members. They retained my check and refuse to return it. Now I'm stuck going through a "dispute" that is going to take 45 business days to resolve. Unacceptable behavior. Shame on them. I'm never going back and telling everyone I know to avoid them. They could have done the right thing, but they chose not to.

Not professional! No one knows anything. Tony from the call center is incompetent and appears to dislike his job. He blames all departments at the credit union and refuses to get a manager to help. Horrible experience.

I had one of the worst experiences because life happens, but Terrance and Katie really helped me. I was quite annoyed with this bank and was considering closing my account, but with the help of these two awesome people who truly helped me in a time of need, I have changed my mind. I've been trying to help my mom close out my deceased father's account for months, and this has been an extremely frustrating process. Despite repeated assurances that documents were being mailed, nothing has arrived—we are now on day 12 with no documents.

At one point, someone from the credit union called and told me they could cut a check, so I rearranged my day to be available with my mom. They never called back. Later I was told that actually, they couldn't issue a check without documents—the same documents we were told would have arrived over a week earlier. When I asked if they could expedite them, the response was simply, "I'm not authorized to do that."

Since my father passed away in March, we have received no emails, no callbacks, nothing unless I reach out first. It's now September, and the estate has been completely held up due to their lack of follow-through. Meanwhile, I've closed multiple other bank and IRA accounts elsewhere without issue.

The entire experience has been unnecessarily difficult, unresponsive, and discouraging. I would strongly caution others to avoid banking here.

I have had nothing but troubles since my wife passed away. I'm the primary on the car loan, trying to get her removed. I've submitted death certificates and received bogus claims about not having proper insurance. I had to have the insurance company contact them. I also received an email stating that they wanted a copy of the back of the death certificate. They are very misguided; there's nothing on the back of the death certificate. It's just been dragging on now for 2 months. Each and every time they bring this up, I go through the loss of my wife all over again. They're heartless, and I am extremely disappointed with the company. As far as I'm concerned, they can have the car back. I am done with dealing with them. It shouldn't be that hard to remove my wife from the title and the loan, but they're making it that way.

Any positive reviews about this financial institution are very likely from employees of the company. Probably the worst financial institution I have had the displeasure of working with. Rude, smug phone agents, and nonexistent customer service. This company also donates to far-left-leaning political candidates using the money you deposit. Be careful when doing business with this company.

My experience with Kitsap Credit Union has been absolutely terrible. The customer service is a joke—either the representatives have zero experience dealing with people, or they know exactly what they're doing but completely lack basic sympathy.

Beyond that, Kitsap Credit Union blatantly takes advantage of its customers with predatory overdraft fees—fees that, in some cases, seem downright unfair. It makes me wonder if they're scrambling to get every last dollar out of people before the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's new overdraft fee limits take effect in October 2025.

Either way, I'll be closing my account soon, and I'll make sure to warn everyone I know to steer clear of dubious institutions like Kitsap Credit Union. If you value your money, take it elsewhere.

Banking with Kitsap is a nightmare. Every system they have does not work, their banking app is clunky and incompatible with my bank, and every form of loan payment incurs a fee, other than online banking, which is not possible because it will not connect my bank. Their representatives are great, but everything else about this company is lecherous. If you have any ability to, I recommend you get your loan serviced literally anywhere else but here. You will face fees, wait times, technical difficulties, and no way to get around a single one of them. If you like coughing up way more money than you promised to when signing a loan, then this is the bank for you.

I was paired with Kitsap by SunLight Financial Services for a solar loan. I was approved for $100k but only needed $31k; the reason for the amounts will come later. I made a down payment of $7k with a monthly of $204 and another payment of $7459.00 due in 15 months, January 2025. I have been trying to make this payment early (August 7, 2024) to save a bit on interest. I called a number listed as Kitsap (877-212-7370) which is not listed on this website as a valid number, and there is a reason for that. A valid phone number is 800-422-5852 or 622-2000. The bogus numbers are 877-212-7370 and 877-354-2629. These numbers are for Launch Servicing, a collection agency. And, like all collection agencies, they do not answer the phone. As noted at the beginning of this review, I was approved for $100k and my FICO score is 809. My payment notice comes from Kitsap Credit Union and is automatically debited from my account, and I have never missed a payment. So, what is going on? Kitsap opened and wrote the loan with no intention of keeping it. They sold it as outstanding debt to a collection agency, Launch Servicing. A male representative from Kitsap tried to deny that Launch Servicing is a collection agency. I suggest that he go to the Launch Servicing website and check their disclosures where you will find the following statement: "Some states require that we inform you Launch Servicing, LLC is a debt collector attempting to collect a debt, and any information obtained will be used for that purpose." As a debt collection agency, they will never answer the phone. I will point out that if you call 877-212-7370, the automated voice will say you have contacted Kitsap, but this is a lie. You will get the exact same message in the exact same voice when you call the official Launch Services number (877-354-2629). I guess the best thing you can say about Kitsap is that they are really deceitful. I did not receive a notice that my loan had been transferred to Launch Servicing. In fact, Kitsap continues to portray themselves as the loan provider, i.e., the notice of payment in their name, but if you call them they will tell you that they cannot process any solar loan payments.

Incredibly rude customer service agent hung up on me when I was just trying to find out information about my billing. I was treated as though I'm a liar even though I have bank account records showing that I have made my payments. I was told that the KSCU app information is incorrect when I pointed out that all my payments have been made. I absolutely do not recommend working with this company if this is how they treat their customers, especially when the customer is trying to make sure all payments are made on time.

The app is very confusing and makes it difficult to set up transfers from my bank to my auto loan. I even called them, and they couldn't help me.

Theypened a fraudulent account. I did not open this account with them. When contacted shown proof, refused to close it. Will not help you if your identity gets stolen. I would never do business with them.

I am very impressed over the years of banking with Kitsap Credit Union. They offer a checking account that gives me interest, and I'm very impressed with the 12-month-no-interest visas they offer. I have always been greeted with the most outstanding customer service than any other financial institution I've banked with.

Can you give negative stars? Downright terrible. Tried to cosign a loan for a friend, KCU couldn't even verify my income correctly. Approved my friends loan 3 different times and then kept asking for more information after "supposed" approval. Couldn't figure out our earned income from our taxes. Wouldn't respond to offers to send them quarterly earnings statements, that we are required to send to Washington State tax office, to help them out. Stopped answering any e-mails. I definitely will NOT ever try to deal with them again

My money is not being applied correctly to my loan and I can't make a principal only payment on the app. I have tried to call the bank, but the branches do not have a phone line going in. You have to contact the call center in some other country and get frustrated with non-English speaking people. This is so wrong for a small community bank. This isn't Bank of America, and they shouldn't try to act like it. I will be moving my accounts.
