McCoy Federal Credit Union

Went to the Apopka location and met with manager Claude regarding a car loan that we had already secured at two other locations for $15,000. We simply wanted to explore a local banking option near our house since we’re relatively new to the area. Claude was impersonal and failed to inform us prior to running our credit that they only finance cars that are 5 years old or newer. We had previously secured two loans for a 2015 Challenger, so by not informing us beforehand, our application was essentially pointless. There was not even an apology, just a cold farewell from Claude, and their finance team called requesting W-4s and six months of paystubs even though we were well qualified and only requesting $15,000. It felt as though they didn’t care about our business and perhaps took advantage of people with less than satisfactory qualifications. The customer service, particularly from the manager, was not welcoming. Needless to say, we declined their loan offer and are continuing to bank with our credit union in Oregon, which despite the distance, provides great service and makes us feel valued.

Been with the bank for over 9 years - worst experience I have ever had. No customer service available after hours, no matter how serious the issue. No help from management, very unprofessional, outdated systems at all levels. I'm closing my account today and moving forward. Please save your money and go somewhere else.

Unacceptable customer service, no matter how high up in the organization you go. It has now been 10 days since I have been unable to send funds via Zelle. No one can solve the problem or even show interest in solving the problem. Their operating system is archaic. They seem to have very few employees, and the ones there don't help!

I have been a member for over 35 years, initially with Gulf States Credit Union and subsequently with McCoy following their merger. I called regarding an account issue—one of many—and was on hold for 10 minutes before reaching a representative. Then, I was informed I would be transferred to another representative who could assist me. This led to another 10-minute wait, listening to a recording stating all representatives were busy. The customer service is poor, and I find myself missing Gulf States where you could always reach a human and have your issues addressed swiftly. McCoy has been deducting $5.00 from my two children's joint accounts for inactivity. These funds were earmarked for incremental college expenses, and upon attempting to access them, we realized they had been chipping away with monthly $5.00 fees. I appreciate credit unions for their personal touch compared to banks. However, McCoy has proven to be no different; you're just a number to them. My disappointment is profound, and as I write this, I am still on hold, awaiting a resolution.

Would give them a zero if I could. Do not get involved. They will not call or email you back. I bought a car and the loan office got me a loan through McCoy. Didn't realize he had opened a savings account with $5 until I received a letter saying they were going to charge me a monthly service fee for an inactive account. I've been trying to get them to close the account, but I get no response from them. So, I guess I have to drive to the closest branch, which is 50 miles away, to close a $5 savings account.

I have been with mcCoy since 1993. This credit union has slowly ruined themselves over the past 15 or so years. I use to love them and have nothing but good things to say but they have just completely lost my respect at this point. The customer service is non existent unless you go in person or wait on hold for a very long time. Most of their people are rude or just dont care about the level of service you receive. There aren’t individual phone number for each individual branch. There is just one main number you call. I have frequent issues with my debit card. I have to get a new one about 3 times per year on average and every time its a hassle. Every time i go to take out more then a couple thousand dollars its some major ordeal regardless of how much money is in your account. If there is anything that will make someone want to avoid a bank its complications with access to your own money. Thats how banks loose trust and mccoy has lost my trust after 30 years. No one at mccoy cares about the level of service their customers receive. You would think you were dealing with a government entity like the irs or something. Its just all way to complicated and way to much of a hassle and no one cares. If you call and finally get someone after waiting for 45 min and then the person is rude and you ask to talk to a manager, good luck with that. They tell you the call is being recorded and i say good i hope someone listens to it. But they wont.

Why it take weeks to get a replacement card and they don’t have an expedited delivery service for their customers. Other institutions will provide you with a digital card until your card arrives

With such a low rate I was able to pay it off in no time this was my fourth time getting a loan from them, with that, I think the next time I ask for a loan it would be with them

Normally I am with USAA, I recently bought a new car and McCoy gave the best rate. For 3 weeks now I have been trying to set up my online account just to make my car payments. After keeping me in Queues for 40 minutes, then they transfer you around and then when they say they are going to call back they don't. This is the worst service I have had from any lender. Once rates change I am refinancing and I am out. Let's hope I can make a payment without having to find a location and doing it the old fashioned way. Get it together!

Not willing to extend credit when you have already proven yourself. Therefore you are forced to continue to pull credit and apply other places. Credit unions are supposed to help. Not here.

If you enjoy banks that sell your info to sketchy life insurance and extended warranty contract vendors - the ones that try to trick your grandparents, then McCoy Federal is for you.

PLEASE READ! Please research before going w this bank. The service is the worst I’ve ever had w banks in 30 years. They don’t care about customers. I’ve had many bad experiences so I said enough. I was told they couldn’t help me w an auto loan by a rep for no reason. After being refused to speak to a manager, she finally got on the phone and told me I could get an auto loan like we all can. Bad business. Oh this was after they wouldn’t release my funds while at my closing. They should not be in business. No positive feedback except for the one angel Jennifer who did try. I guess they don’t need the business although the economy is as is. By the way, my last auto loan was w McCoy paid in full. Will be closing my account of course

This was a secured card I used to rebuild my credit. I have since been approved for an unsecured card. The only negative is they didn't change the card so I have to keep it open to maintain the tradeline date

This is my WORST ever experience. Have an account for several years. Got call today from rep. and stated that my account was overdraft in the past 4 months and nobody called or send an email. I kept an account for very minor things with partial direct deposit. Rep. told me that Sprint took the money and I don’t even have an account with them and it is since December 2019. About 700$ plus and she said it is to late to charge it back. WTF. I will contact my legal representative to address this matter.
