Horrible bank. We became customers through the acquisition of Bremer. It was the worst thing to happen to us. There was inadequate communication on how they operate. They do not offer same-day deposits, except for cash. Paper checks, even if you deposit them first thing in the morning, are not available until the next day. This policy is totally different from Bremer's, and after being a customer of Bremer for more than 25 years, we are closing all of our accounts. Our banker, who has helped us for years, indicated there was nothing she could do. She apologized profusely and said this was not working for many customers, and that we are one of the many who are leaving.

This is not a good bank for small businesses. The customer service is poor, and the apps and processes are outdated. Everything is slow with them. Worst of all, they do not have a deal with Zelle for business accounts! At a time when everyone uses Zelle as a way to quickly receive funds and avoid credit card processing fees, it's unfathomable to me how you can have a commercial account with a bank that can't accept Zelle payments. I had a horrible experience with them; I should have never left Chase.

I have never had so many problems in my life with a bank. I can't transfer money from my savings account to my checking account unless I go to a branch because I don't do it often enough. This is unacceptable. I am nowhere near a branch; the closest one is an hour away. I never had problems with First Midwest Bank. I do not recommend trusting them with your money.

Good morning, my name is Jason Martinez, and unfortunately, I would like to share a horror story with the public today. My wife, Mary Martinez (recently deceased), was a customer of First Midwest Bank before Old National Bank bought them out. My wife's membership transferred over when Old National Bank took over. My wife Mary Martinez passed away on 3/15/25. When I went to close her account, I presented the bank with a death certificate and was referred to the manager of the Gary, Indiana Branch. From the moment I began my interaction with the manager, I was met with judgment, lack of concern, and a malicious attitude. I was not an authorized user on my wife's account, nor she on mine. I was informed, due to this fact, that there would be a 45-day waiting period before I was able to close her account. My wife had zero recurring charges in her account history and this fact was made clear. After I mentioned getting my lawyer involved, the manager became highly upset. She informed me I had half an hour to get off the bank property or she would call the police and have me arrested. I presented myself as a respectful man throughout all of this. I waited outside, recording and informing the public of my interaction with the manager at this location. The police never arrived on the scene. After this, I tried to reach out to various branches and managers of other locations and was met with the same lack of concern. With the exception of a few people I got a hold of after multiple messages and phone calls, the majority of the bank's customer service was horrendous and showed a lack of concern! I was informed by a representative that the manager at the Gary, Indiana location had informed her that I had cursed her out and was screaming at her. In light of this, I informed the representative that all interactions inside the bank are recorded and asked that they review the tapes. Such actions never occurred, and I tried to make her aware of the lies told by the manager at the Gary, Indiana location. On the 44th day of waiting to close my wife's account, I presented the bank with a requested affidavit and was making sure that everything was in order for the 45th day. At this time, the manager decided that their policy was no longer important and allowed me to close out the account. I requested a printout of my wife's account in order to ensure that she had received her last paycheck and was refused per the manager due to yet another policy she said was in place. I only hope that any future customers of Old National Bank read this review and consider the professionalism or lack thereof, before investing their money with such an entity. The lack of concern, malicious attitude, and deceitful lies presented by the manager of the Gary, Indiana branch have compounded more grief on an already very difficult time, with very little concern for my wife, their customer! The fact that the bank would collect 45 more days of interest on one of their customers brings me a feeling of disgust. I ask that all other customers who have experienced similar interactions with Old National Bank write their review to make future customers aware of the bank's policies and people placed in management. The truth will always prevail, and without it, change will not come. Be blessed and have a wonderful day!

My bank in St. John, Indiana, changed the checking account routing number without informing me or my wife and claimed they had sent snail mail (USPS) to inform us of the change, even though they had our email addresses and phone numbers as means of contact. They've been unreliable since taking over First Midwest Bank.

On Wednesday, February 19th, I had an extremely disappointing experience at Old National Bank on 130 S Main St #100 in South Bend with the branch manager Angelique Swartz. Her behavior was not only unprofessional but outright rude. Instead of providing quality customer service, she spoke to me in a condescending manner, constantly interrupting me when I was just asking for the company policy pertaining to their identification policies and offered completely inaccurate legal advice.
I got a ride just to stop in for a printout of my transactions over the past 60 days because I'm not the only one on the account, and for tax purposes, I needed this information. I came in with my account number but admittedly did not have my driver's license due to it being back at my office.
During our conversation, the branch manager insisted that I must have a driver's license even if I am simply walking down the street—an absurd and legally incorrect statement. I advised her that I'm a prior law enforcement officer and that what she said was absolutely inaccurate, and that company policy is not Indiana law. When I pointed this out, she dismissively responded that "as someone with prior law enforcement experience, you should know that."
Not only was this comment inappropriate and inaccurate, but it also showed a complete lack of professionalism and basic knowledge of the law.
A bank manager should be focused on assisting customers with their banking needs, not handing out false legal claims with a disrespectful attitude. I expected a higher level of competence and respect, but unfortunately, that was not the case. I strongly urge Old National Bank to provide proper training in both customer service and professionalism, as interactions like these reflect poorly on the institution as a whole. Indiana does not have a "stop and identify" law that requires pedestrians to present ID upon request by police unless they are reasonably suspected of committing a crime.
I would not recommend dealing with this individual if you expect courteous and knowledgeable service.

Peotone Branch: I have never experienced such unprofessionalism, rudeness, and a complete lack of customer service skills in a bank as I did with the tellers at Old National Bank in Peotone. The management must be consistently absent or unaware that customers are leaving for the competition due to the horrendous behavior towards customers. The tellers I witnessed should not be on the front line. They displayed zero customer service skills. It was outrageous. I wouldn't trust my money to be handled by a bank that hires rude, unkempt appearances, and angry people.

By far the worst banking experience for a myriad of reasons. The morbidly obese branch manager made a very bad first impression when they acquired First Midwest by attempting to charge for various services that are typically free at other banks. The teller asks for my SSN even though she addresses me by name before I show her anything at the window, which shows she knows who I am and is being unnecessarily difficult, so I reply in kind, "You know who I am, and my SSN is on your computer screen." The personal bankers lack knowledge about bank rules, regulations and products plus are not trustworthy. I will not get a debit card at ONB because they require a PIN to be given during card issuance. I only conduct business here that leaves a paper trail and avoid getting a debit card because the branch manager and some personal bankers are unprofessional. The only reason I do any banking here is due to their proximity to my home. The next nearest branch has inconvenient hours and is not open on Saturdays. The biggest problem is a disrespectful branch manager who hired similarly disrespectful employees without realizing that I have significantly more money in accounts at other banks. Hence, I do not want their debit card; I have one from a much larger national bank. I bank here for convenience but generally try to avoid my closest branch, although corporate does offer competitive CD and savings rates. Banking should not be difficult but it is at this branch, so I try to limit my visits to 3-4 times a year in person. The closest branch is convenient for simple transactions such as cashing checks plus is very close to Microcenter where I buy a lot of computer parts and equipment.

Bank makes no effort to notify you of the maturity of CDs. They then automatically enroll you in new products at lower rates without your authorization. Then, when you attempt to withdraw your money, they impose a massive penalty. Never bank with an institution that doesn't provide customer service and doesn't work with its customers when products mature.

Not flexible with transfers to trusts and other higher-end financial transactions that can only benefit the bank. So short-sighted. Now we will just work with another bank and move our assets, a hassle for us, but really bad for Old National.

I had a personal loan from another bank that was turned over to ONB when the original bank was bought out. Today, I tried to get a payoff for my loan, but you have to call and then, according to the website, you will get a payoff quote valid for 10 days. After two dropped calls and three calls informing me "your information isn't available at this time," I finally connected to a person who was obviously working from a call center. How do I know this for certain? Well, I could hear the other people sharing information, including login details with their customers. I'm sure a certain individual—which will remain unnamed for privacy—would be thrilled to know their information was being overheard by other callers. After waiting almost 10 minutes for a really simple request, I was given the amount and told it was only valid for today. Seriously? I've wasted over an hour trying to get this information, and now I'm going to have to call again? The moral of the story: There are clearly better choices out there. If you are looking for good customer service, look elsewhere. I know I will.

Typical lender banks love their gimmicks: overcharges, harsh penalties for honest mistakes—you name it. But this one takes the cake. Their escrow calculation? Completely off. I had to pay a hefty amount myself just to clean up their mess and avoid complications. Then, they still charged me for the same thing I had already paid for, despite my explicit instructions not to. On top of that, they threw in some mystery charges for good measure.
To make matters worse, they delayed the payment schedule, making me late for the county and threatening even more penalties. If I hadn't stepped in and paid myself, it would've been a disaster. And here's the kicker: they made nearly $10,000 worth of mistakes that I had to untangle by contacting each party myself.
Why can't banks be held accountable for their errors the way they hold us accountable for ours? It's infuriatingly one-sided.

Worst customer service, unprofessional, and lack of service and knowledge. They simply disconnected my call after asking me to be on hold for 45 minutes. The representative did it intentionally. Pathetic and unacceptable behavior. No callbacks or resolution to my complaint even after 30 days.

This bank is horrible. Twice in one month, you can't access your account, ATM funds, nothing. Customer service is not available during off hours. Ever since this bank bought out First Midwest, it has been problem after problem. Nothing is more embarrassing than trying to check out at the grocery store and being declined. Then asking them to wait to take cash out of the ATM and being denied again. This is the last straw. I'm moving multiple accounts out of this unreliable bank. It doesn't even deserve one star.

Can't tell you how sick I am of this bank. Of all the banks that we use, Old National Bank is by far the worst. Over the years, they have managed to nickel-and-dime me for just about everything. They've also frozen my accounts due to inactivity and then acted as if I was a criminal when I came in and tried to access MY money. I wouldn't trust this bank any further than I could throw it. I'm finally completely over them and will be moving all my money there come Monday. I just noticed that they began charging a $15/month fee on one of my accounts, a charge that was never there before. I can't see why anyone would want to do business with this organization that is rotten to the core.
