Think of it this way, if seven people are taken advantage of in a similar scenario as mine, that would be close to $100K in excess payments to the bank, in addition to the regular payments. PLEASE THINK THROUGH THIS AND GET QUOTES FROM MULTIPLE BANKS, I WOULD SUGGEST.
Unable to reach customer service quickly and unable to find my prior checking and savings account records! I waited almost an hour to get someone on the phone, which shouldn't be the case when a company is handling your money. They also don't advertise the fact that you are going to have to go into a branch to get your account completely set up. They should. I set up an account while I was out of state. I have a residence in Philly, but I was traveling for work. They took my money to open the account, gave me account numbers for the products I opened, then flagged the account and said I needed to come in with a social security card, birth certificate and utility bill. Then, they contacted me through some sort of third party service via email - ZIX. They never communicated that they would be communicating with me through this service, which is a security concern! I opened the email because I was on a protected system, only to discover they wanted me to come into the branch! I explained that I was a prior customer. They couldn't find my prior accounts! I tried calling to talk to someone and had to spend almost an hour on hold waiting to reach someone. The person I spoke to was nice, but couldn't find me in the system. I asked her if she could contact someone who could verify my prior account since her current active system clearly does not go back far enough. My account may have been archived. She said she could, but I would still have to come into a branch with my social and birth certificate. That's OK. I'm not even in the state right now. I had them send me the money I put in to initially fund the account back to me. Guess what? They took my money instantly, but somehow returning it will take 7 to 10 business days! No thank you. I'll take my business somewhere it is wanted and appreciated.
They called me about $400 in fraudulent charges on my card. I called them back. On hold for a while. They closed my card but told me I couldn’t dispute the $400 because the charges were pending. Makes no sense. Now I have to find an extra $400 to keep in my account to cover the fraudulent charges. And I have to be inconvenienced I call them back another day to dispute the charges. The new card is to arrive in 7-10 business days. I asked if they could expedite. They said no. 10 days to get a new card?!! I had a fraudulent charge call from Bank of America. They immediately took off the charges even though they were pending and agreed to expedite my new card to 1-3 business days without charge since it was a fraudulent case. Simple. It’s like PFCU is still in the Stone Age.
To put a travel notice on your card you have to send them an email as opposed to just calling and having an automated service do it 30 seconds like my other cards. And when I did send the email up until the day of my flight I still didn’t hear from them or have a travel notice on my card. The last minute before my flight I had the stressful experience
Once lost my card in a foreign country and was basically stranded because the credit union had no back up plan. The rep literally told me they could not help me.
