Both Sunny and Scott claimed to be supervisors and could not have been more discourteous. Leaving a message for the president will likely go ignored. This is not the bank it once was!
1/2 hour before signing the loan they said we need the seller (lives in Mass) to come in with us. Do think I’m magic. They supplied us with a list of documents required at the signing. All was submitted 5 days prior, approved and signing scheduled. Then some distract managers came up with a new idea.
I feel bad for all there members.
We are going to DCU with our business
Customer service is terrible at getting back to you. I called them and went to the automatic service that lets you put in your name, telephone number, why you're calling and then they're supposed to call you back. Several days later no call back, so I have to call them again. I called them because my account had been locked after a couple of weeks of being newly opened, and the customer representative just says that something is being verified on my account and they don't have any details. Somebody else is going to have to talk to me. So I wait for this other person to call me back and several days later they do finally, but I was unable to pick up the phone. The voicemail they left me was very generic basically saying to just call them back. I had actually only missed the phone call by like 5 minutes, so I call them back to no answer and have to leave a voicemail for them. I asked if they can give me a bit more information on what is happening with my account and if there is anything I can do in order to solve this problem. Also that if I don't pick up please leave this information in the voicemail. Several days after that I still don't get a phone call but I do get an email from a different person from this bank. They say that my account has been closed and that all my money should be transferred to my originating financial account. They say it's closed due to some sort of lack of identity verification. Well, I was never told of any problems around this or I would have gladly tried to solve this issue, however they decided to just close my account. At this point, it's been such a pain dealing with them, that it's whatever - I just want my money back. It's been two weeks now since I got the email saying my account was closed however I still have yet to see the funds arrive in my account. Once again I'm going to have to reach out to them for their terrible process. This whole system is terrible and such a waste of time. I spent a lot of time signing up and sending proof of my identity multiple times and calling customer service multiple times, and in the end they just decide to close my account without any sort of notification. Then they can't even get the funds from that closed account to me in a timely manner. This has been my worst experience with any financial institution so far. I have several credit Union accounts as well as brokerage accounts ranging from big names to no names, and nothing has compared to how terrible this bank is, even with just transferring money, which is what a bank is supposed to excel at. I will never recommend this bank to anyone. The high savings rate of the rainy day fund is not worth the hassle of having your money basically locked away with them. If I needed the $1K still in my closed account for any emergency, I would have been screwed, as it has been out of my hands for a full month now.
I had always been intimidated talking to bank personnel with the big banks I had used previously, but the loan officer was friendly and responsive to even my dumbest questions. Several months later when it turned out that I would be leaving the New Hampshire area, I was able to pick up the phone and talk to her about my move and she reassured me it would be no problem -- I was just impressed that I had gotten a person on the phone and she even seemed to remember me. I continued to do my banking and keep my car loan with St. Mary's and have never regretted it -- they are helpful and responsive by phone, email and regular mail. After an inquiry via email about whether I could make a deposit through the mail without deposit slips (I was told you can) I received an envelope full of deposit slips several days later -- unsolicited.
St. Mary's is the only credit union I've ever banked with, but I would be confident to recommend them over any regular bank, particularly the big national banks.
