Tower Federal Credit Union

My husband and I have been attempting to refinance our car through here. It was the bank selected for us by Tresl, a company I connected with through Credit Karma to assist with the process. They have taken so long with everything that they requested ANOTHER hard inquiry to confirm we can still move forward. They would not budge on this, no matter how much we explained the issue was on their end, and we had provided all the documents requested, some multiple times even, within their allotted timeframe. We really had no other option than to just allow the second hard inquiry, as this bank was going to provide the best rate supposedly.

We are now at a standstill again in the process where they are asking for documents we already provided them all over again, including proof of address, which they will not accept a letter FROM THEM sent to our address with both our names on it. The Tresl specialist has only been able to give us so many updates on the process, so we tried calling Tower Federal themselves, and customer service insisted there has not been any activity on our account in over 10 days, despite being told by our loan specialist that it's currently going through underwriting. When we inquired further, the customer service person would not say any more unless we made a savings account with them and stated that they do not provide refinance loans without a savings account with them. This is the first we heard of this, so we immediately called our loan specialist back, who said that is not true, and that they see different things on their end than we can.

I'm just so fed up and disappointed, incredibly frustrated, with this process. If anyone sees this before making a decision, go in the opposite direction. If you're working with Tresl, I would request it not be this bank before they run the hard inquiries. I hope and pray this works out at some point. The economy is awful and I'm just trying to help our financial situation. All this has caused is a headache and some tears.

So slow! It takes them a week to set up an external transfer! Ridiculous! I can't believe in this modern age that it takes so long to be able to send money to someone outside the bank. Terrible bank. Go anywhere else and you will be better off!

If I could give this institution zero stars, I would. I have now had issues with them double-charging my loan in the same month to an account I made them aware I had closed, and they confirmed the payment would not come from that account, but then it did. And now I am having issues with the titling department because they haven't responded to me about the transfer of my title to CTRMV, and now I run the risk of my registration being revoked in my originating state. Their lack of accountability and communication is evident.

I would avoid Tower as a lender. The first reason is that the customer service people like to talk down to you and are not up to date on the Tower processes. If I had had a conversation with them before signing my loan through Caribou, I would have chosen a different lender. Please do your homework and ask a lot of questions; they are trying to squeeze every dime out of the customer.

It's a small boomer institution, and the members' services can be rude and condescending. Everything is automated, including unexpected fees, which they may reverse after walking you through ten prompts, including a "verbal password" and other such complications. Their auto loan application took so many weeks that we had to pay in cash and use their loan for a refinance later. It would be difficult to recommend this bank, even if the rates are low. They told me the only way to close my account to avoid inactive fees was to "send a handwritten note."

I wish I had read some of these reviews before I got involved with this credit union, more specifically Beth Morse. In order to give them my information, I needed to fill out an application. I had several questions which this woman ignored and submitted my application anyway. Having questions about something does not equal being ready to apply. Completely unprofessional. I will go out of my way to make sure people are aware of the unprofessional way they handle business. Fortunately, I got what I needed from a completely different institution.

2 car loans, 5 star service. From my MERCEDES-BENZ to my 911, they come through. I have No payments missed on my credit and I have some debt but they know I'm a client who won't default. For my 911 I had a 709 credit rating, enough to funded not just what I asked for but for everything tax and license.
I will always be with Tower Financial CU.

All team members were really helpful in the entire process. Nicole was especially helpful in working with her management team to get my loan amount approved, even though the appraiser listed a note about declining markets in California. I know I can count on Tower Federal's solid, but intelligently flexible lending standards to be around and able to support my business in any economic condition and I appreciate the jurisprudence. Above all that, they have one of the best HELOC rates (Prime -.5) and they are the only lender that will do that rate above a $200K credit line. In addition, they got the HELOC done in about 35 days from application to closing, which is pretty incredible for a HELOC over $200K.

FCU had help me to build my credit,I'm so happy to be financial with my car so far I've been able to make my payments responsible for 8 months now thanks FCU to helping me achieve my gold.!!

Absolutely horrible Customer Service. Non responsive when sending message and they are impossible get an agent on the Phone. I tried calling, leaving voicemails and leaving messages on web portal, but they never responded. After waited 45 min I did get a hold of the an agent but they couldn't help me they got my phone number and said they will call me back. 2 day pass still no call back. They don't like to help with your loan approval, they just let the approval expire and they will tell you to just reapply and resubmit the docs online. unprofessional... just terrible!

This company is absolutely horrible. I would never recommend them for anything EVER. They gave me 1 week to provide a bunch of documents for an auto loan. I live across the nation and they are impossible to get a hold of. My loan was approved for 2.9% but because they didnt get all my documents in time they are offering a rate of 6.9%. I spend hours on hold trying to get an answer on what documents they needed. I tried calling, leaving voicemails and emailing my account manager and she never responded once. I never got an account number for my account or log in information. Just absolutely terrible! When I did get a hold of the company they were always so unprofessional... just terrible!

Terrible credit union. Very unprofessional and I could not get a reply from my loan processor or his supervisor the whole time of during 30 days of my application. They got my donation to the foundation and basically left me in the dark the whole time even after submitting all the required documents. I highly suggest avoiding this credit union as they don't value customers. Total waste of time and money.

I keep trying to change my address with them, but it feels impossible. I don’t have my account number and can’t get customer service to give it to me. They want me to write a hand written letter with my social security number and signature in order to receive it. I honestly regret refinancing my car with this company. I originally signed up with a different company and they transferred my loan here. I wish I never signed up with them. I can’t wait until I can refinance my car with a different company.

I have a car payment and sent $3,000 they took the payment will not credit back account. Actually the third time this has happened with this Compay. They don’t answer the phone. No response from emails. If someone could start a class action lawsuit that would be amazing I’m sure they skimming accounts.. please contact [email protected]

ABYSMAL SERVICE! I refinanced my vehicle with them and every aspect of this experience has been extremely frustrating. Aside from the long wait times to speak to a representative and the tossing around from department to department, their website and online banking is NOT user friendly and extremely confusing even for simply setting up automatic payment. Plus, when you finally get around jumping through different pages jus to set up automatic payments, they double charge your car payment and give you the run around just to get your money. I am currently having to experience trying get my money back the double charge they took from my account and it’s been 2 weeks. Stay away from the company it will be a headache the entire time!
